Memorable musings in the waters and woods of Maine, West of Rangeley. From the first "Although I am far from stream and bog, my map draws me to a place that remains wild, even dangerous, in an increasingly antiseptic world...."
Robert J. Romano, Jr. is the author of the Rangeley Lakes series of novels: "North of Easie," "West of Rangeley," and "Brook Trout Blues."
"North of Easie" won second place in the 2010 New England Outdoor Writer’s Best Book Contest.
Released in 2016, the tenth-anniversary edition of "Shadows in the Stream," Bob’s book of essays, is also set in the Rangeley Lakes Region.
Romano’s essays and short stories have appeared in various anthologies, including "Christmas in the Wild," "Fresh Fiction for Fresh Water Fishing," and "Wildbranch: An Anthology of Nature, Environmental, and Place-Based Writing."

Trish Romano often adds illustrations and photographs to her husband's books and essays. The couple have owned a camp in western Maine for more than thirty years. Sometimes referred to as "The Land of Fishing Legends," it is a region of the country where you can still find a moose around the next bend in the river and native brook trout sharing the pools with wild landlocked salmon.
