The Scrimshaw Scriptures blends together the story of the 19th century whaling industry, the immigration of my wifeÕs maternal great-great-grandfather from Madeira, Portugal in 1846 as a twelve year old stowaway and antique whale tooth scrimshaw. While the story is written as historical fiction, a principal purpose of the book is to educate the reader on the folk art of antique whale tooth scrimshaw, including forensic study related thereto.
