Only one woman can find this lost Hart…

A second chance, military, single mom, romantic suspense.

Stacey Saunders has had a less than stellar year. Until she met Chase, she wasn’t sure she’d make it through. Hired to protect her and her kids from a crime family, Chase quickly became more than just a bodyguard. He became her lifeline. Their one night of passion gave her hope for the future, for a new life. But then he disappeared.

Six months later, Chase is back. But Stacey’s not willing to just let sleeping dogs lie—or in this case, a green-eyed bodyguard. She deserves answers.

Chase Hart had to leave. He didn’t want to, but the pain, the secrets, the fears are all just too real. He wouldn’t be a good man if he brought his demons into Stacey’s world. But it becomes impossible for him to stay away from her when Stacey comes around demanding answers. Is this finally his chance for a normal, happy life. Not by a long shot it would seem. Stacey’s family is suddenly ripped apart, a piece of her heart taken, and it’s up to Chase to bring him back safely. With dangers lurking in every dark corner, the deeper he digs, the greater the risk of losing Stacey, possibly for good.

A Canadian West Coast baby born and raised, Whitley is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have two beautiful daughters and a fluffy dog. She spends her days making food that gets thrown on the floor, vacuuming Cheerios out from under the couch and making sure that the dog food doesn't end up in the air conditioner. But when the kids are at school and it's not quite wine o'clock, Whitley sits down, avoids the pile of laundry on the couch, and writes.

A lover of all things decadent; wine, cheese, chocolate and spicy erotic romance, Whitley brings the humorous side of sex, the ridiculous side of relationships and the suspense of everyday life into her stories. With single dads, firefighters, Navy SEALs, mommy wars, body issues, threesomes, bondage and role-playing, Whitley’s books have all the funny and fabulously filthy words you could hope for.

Oh boy... I'm about to read another book by this amazing author and I'm super excited.
Whitley Cox has this effect on me and I can't get enough of her books.
Her writing is sweet and intense, with a touch of darkness in between.
Each story is special in its own way and you'll love it. Trust me.
Have you seen this cover? Really look at it? Dayum... I want to lick it. Lol
Lost Hart is her latest release and it's the second book from the Harty Boys series.
This book explores the lives of Stacey and Chase.
Stacey has had an awful year. She's a single mom that will do everything to protect her kids.
And then she meets Chase.
Chase was hired to protect Stacey. But something in her called for him.
After a one-night stand, he disappears for a few months.
Now he's back but will they get back together?
OMG... OMG... This book... This book...
It was perfect, it was intense, it was beautiful with a touch of darkness
Perfect plot, very well written, super engaging, and intense.
I loved every single chapter.
There were parts of the book that I saw myself crying so hard that I had to stop reading.
It was raw at some parts and heartfelt at others.
I really loved these characters. I loved their chemistry, their love.
Connor and Thea stole my heart. They were wonderful.
This book is not for the faint of heart, because it's raw and will show you things that are happening just around the corner.
Be aware.
Whitley, woman... This book... Dayum. I loved it.
What's next? Another Hart boy?   I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Wow!!!! Stacey Saunders and Chase Hart’s second chance romance blew me away.....
Stacey is a single mum trying to do her best for her children and that means putting on a brave face whilst struggling to come to terms with loss. Chase is hired to protect her and the family and as soon as these two meet you just know life’s about to change for both of them but when Chase leaves without so much as a goodbye Stacey is left angry and wondering what she did wrong.
A few months later Chase us back and that’s when Stacey goes looking for answers, problem is will Chase be prepared to open up with the secrets and demons he hides.
This story ticked all my boxes, it blew me away and showed me a whole different side to Ms Cox’s writing. I feel hook, line and sinker for Chase, Stacey and her family and I was captivated by their emotional, entertaining read that had enough suspense to keep me on the edge of seat as I waited with baited breath to see if Chase could save the family I had fallen for. This book is so much more that a romance, it’s a story about family, love and fighting for what’s right, when it seems the odds are stacked against you. This is book 2 in a series of stand-alone’s and I haven’t read book 1, Hard Hart but that’s about to change because I need more from these swoon worthy Hart men.
This book really showed how diverse how very talented this author is.

Wow! What an emotional rollercoaster ride!

For Stacey Saunders, life’s been a struggle. A year ago Stacey found out that her husband has been living a double life and had another family. Then he goes and gets himself killed, leaving her alone with their two small children. Three months ago, Stacey spent the night with the most wonderful man. He made her feel loved and cherished and not so alone. Protected. But then he was gone without a word. Abandoned again. Stacey tries to pick up the pieces of her broken heart as her head fills with insecurities.

Chase Hart is a man filled with demons. Broken physically and emotionally. Spending that night with Stacey was beyond anything he could have imagined, but Chase knows Stacey deserves some whole. Someone not like him. When Chase comes back three months later, Stacey doesn’t stand idly by while Chase throws away their chance for unhappiness. She’s going to drag his uncommunicative @ss kicking and screaming to the happiness she knows they can find together. Just as everything is coming together, a piece of their happiness is ripped away and Chase vows to fix it, no matter the personal cost.

As usual, Whitley Cox writes a smart, funny, sexy read with great characters and witty dialogue. And wow! What an emotional roller coaster ride! Whitley does a fantastic job explaining how corrosive PTSD and trauma are to a person’s ability to keep their own self worth. We definitely got a good picture inside Chase’s head as how he rationalized The only difficulty I had with the book was that I felt like I had a bit of a hard time laying out exactly what had happened with Stacey's husband. It was eventually all explained, but definitely not enough of an issue to doc even a half of a star. Chase is a great character. Despite his misgivings over restarting their relationship, he stays steadfast in his role as a protector and willingness to do anything for the ones he loves and he loves Stacey - whether he feels worthy of her or not. Stacey is the ultimate survivor who continues to scrap her way to the happiness she knows they both deserve. This book had it all! Laugh out loud moments. Sobbing into your kindle moments. A great storyline and enough plot twists to keep you hooked till the end. Cameos from some of our favorite characters in previous books was nice too, despite the circumstances it was under. Lost Hart is a friends to lovers, stand alone, but is best read after Overall, a great read and I can’t wait to read the next book.

WOW.......Get ready to take an emotional roller-coaster ride!!!

Lost Hart is the second book int The Harty Boys series and all I can say is this is a story that turned out to be not what I was expecting but so much better. This is a very emotional story about Stacey Saunders and Chase Hart. They are two people who are dealing with a lot in their lives that was not of their making. For Stacey she not only has a broken heart but also a broken soul. Her husband was killed but not before she found out he had another family and was living a dual life. So now she is the single mother of two young children and just trying to start her life. Chase is an ex military man who owns and runs a private security company with his other brothers. But he is also a man who suffers from PTSD. There is a part of him that is broken both inside and out. But there are also really wonderful qualities about him as he loves his family deeply and would do anything for those that he cares about.
This story packs a wallop of a story-line. It is really well crafted as the story weaves together action, suspense, drama, dire circumstances, edge of your seat and nail biting situations, a lot of emotions, romance and a sizzling passion all with two characters that are both broken in their own way. The question is whether they will find that refuge is enough to heal them both and bring then into the light of a loving future together. Be prepared to be gripped by this story and clear your calendar because you will not be able to put it down once you start reading. Lost Hart is a definite RECOMMEND READ!!!

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I don't know what to say really this book was fantastic Chase & Stacey's story took me on a roller-coaster ride that I didn't want to get off dedperate to know what was going to happen next. What started out as him protecting Stacey & her children from people who were out to get them because of her dead husband who she found out was living a double life with another wife & family turned into a relationship neither expected but I miser standing put an immediate end to anything more when he left without saying a word. When he came back months later she was angry with him but she still loved him but just as they were rebuilding their relationship declaring their love for each other a mothers worst nightmare happened & Chase, his brothers together with characters from Whitley's other books were determined to get back what was taken from them leading them to a much deeper evil operation than they first thought, however although they succeed in part of their mission Chase remained in danger. This book had love in abundance, light hearted with the Hart brothers & little Conner which you couldn't help smile about, danger, hidden demons that brought out PTSD, tradedy, pain places where people should never be, tears, suspense, I couldn't put it down until I knew everyone was safe & but also the pieces of life that were put back together for the people who deserved to be together so much.
This is a truly amazing book & can't wait to read Rex's story just make sure you have tissues with you when reading this book as at times I had tears running down my face.

Chase & Stacey
In other great read from an author I absolutely love.
I did find it a bit frustrating that Chase let a misunderstanding go 6mth keeping the family adrift and then bang all is forgiven & forgotten.
Once I got over that ( lol ) I got into the story and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Chase has his demons and it broke my heart as he’s such a sweetie, he loves Stacey and her two munchkins. ( who are adorable)
Stacey's story was a roller-coaster of emotions.
This started as Chase protecting Stacey & her children from the people after her dut to her dead husband who she found out was living a double life with a totally other life including another wife & family.
When Chase and Stacey finally got together a misunderstanding on Chases side put an immediate end to anything more and he left without saying a goodbye.
When he came back 6 months later she was angry but she still loved him and they got back together with their connection still being so strong
He reconnected with one of his brothers and the Harty boys were back together again
However just as they began rebuilding their relationship the most unimaginable happened!!! ( no spoilers )
Chase and his brothers together with characters we got to know from other books from this author fight to get back what was taken. This opens up a huge evil operation, though they succeed inter rescue mission not all goes to plan and Chase’s life hangs in the balance, and Chases PTSD is triggered.A truly great read tho you may need to break out the tissues in parts..

'Lost Hart' is everything that Whitley Cox's title on her Facebook advocates, 'Funny', 'Fabulously' 'Filthy' romance, however, I would add 'fantastic'. Chase and Stacey's story was a little edgier and not so many of those classic one-liners we know and love but there are a few, my favorite being, 'dick, dip, and dasher'. I think the edginess is brought on by the great under pining suspense part of the book and with the demons that Chase is dealing with, just sealed it for me and made it worth all of the 5⭐️I have awarded it.

However, this story belongs as much to Connor, Stacy's 4-year-old son as it does to her and Chase. Connor stole the show on so many occasions. Be prepared, you will need tissues.

Although the first book in the series Hard Hart is about Krista and Brock, Chase's brother, we did meet Stacy there, as Chase was her bodyguard for a short time and where he fell in love with not only her but her 2 children, they had one night together, but when Chase's demons took a hold he left, now 6 months later he is back. The connection between the two hasn't gone away, the love between him and the kids as strong as ever, but it is the demons from his past and when tragedy strikes that may end this fragile relationship before it has a chance to begin. I loved that we got to catch up with some of the 'Single of Dad's of Seattle', even if it was not in the best of circumstances. It did, however, make me fall more and more in love with this series and the Hart men.

Chase & Stacy

The author is one of my favorites. However, if you are expecting a light rom-com, this is not the one. He has a history as a talented IT person who also fills in as a protector when needed. Protecting put him in an unforgettable situation--no matter how hard he tried to forget. Then he escaped when he thought he'd been betrayed by one of the few people he trusted. But now he's back. Was there a mistake?

Stacy hasn't had the best of life childhood or adult so far. However, she has two gems in her life, her children. They also love Chase who had become their protector a few months before until he left them without a word. Now he's back and she's demanding answers.

What man can resist a hot woman with sass and strength? Not Chase. Even if he could her two kids are the best, the cutest, friendliest, and adore him. His family adores them as well.

When things look like they might work out disaster strikes. Believe the rest is the worst. A family and people who have been through so much pain are stuck with even more.

Beware: putting this book down before you finish it may be a task too hard. There are old friends from previous stories by the author if you've read them. If not you'll meet new friends with skills and strengths as well as backgrounds that will be just what's needed. The characters are all unforgettable. The book offers great characters, plenty of steam will draw on the reader's emotions and, finally....well you'll need to read and come to your own conclusions. For me, I absolutely loved it and will have to read it again and probably again after that.

Omg! Creed is the scum of the earth for the things he does in this story.
Chase met Stacey when he was assigned to be her bodyguarding for her and her children while he live with them in their home. Over this period of time, the children became attached to him and he and Stacey developed not only friendship, she sees him as her hope to a happy feature . They had one night together at the end of his contract then Chase left without saying goodbye. Now Chase is back after a few months and he is avoiding Stacey and she can't understand why. She decided to confront him and demand answers. They talked, cleared up a few misunderstandings and they were back into each others harms. Just when everything seems to be going well, desaster strikes, Stacey's son was kidnapped and their whole world is turned upside down. Chase had been through the most horrible experiences that he has not recovered from but he was determined to find her son. The mission put Chase in a situation that took him back to a terrible place that brought his demons to the serface.
Now he has withdrawn from Stacey. She had her work cut out for her, trying to convince him that he deserved to be loved. Will he push pass his pain and embrace the ready made family he was given?
This story is a tear jerker but there are Lol moments too, especially, when you meet Stacey's son, he is such a sweet heart. I throughly enjoyed this story, it is so touching. I totally recommend it.

Holy smokes. Lost Hart is the second in the Harty Boys series by Lost Hart. Author Whitley Cox abandons much of her humor laced writing style for this book, instead taking us deep into the fractured soul of Chase Hart.

Being a former military operative makes Chase Hart a perfect fit for the Hart Brothers security team. After enduring unimaginable torture and captivity, Chase and his brothers are hopeful he can take cases that won't add to the demons that haunt him. But when he's required to play bodyguard to sweet Stacy and her beautiful children, their lightness makes Chase feel the darkness even more. He's faced the fact that he's a broken shell of a man and that makes him certain he doesn't deserve the love and light they have to give.

This book was...wow. I'm so used to Cox' good humor and light writing style so I was unprepared for this heavier, darker side but I loved it! Lost Hart does an awesome job of exploring PTS for our warfighters and the ravaged mind they have to live with to come out the other side. It's a constant battle on the most unknown of battlefields, the mind. I so appreciated the author being real about this struggle and not making it cutesy or depicting Chase as anything less than the hero he is. Stacy was also a beautiful revelation. She was a perfect depiction of silk over steel. After being betrayed, she learned to trust herself and fight the battle for the life she wants for herself and her children.

5 Star review of Lost Hart by Whitley Cox

Where do I start with this review? This is a side of Whitley Cox’s writing I have not read before and I have to save I was absolutely captivated. I love romantic suspense books and this was a great example of the genre.
Stacey Saunders is a single mum, trying to come to terms with loss and doing her best to keep her sanity and out on a brave face for her children. When Chase Hart is hired to protect her and her family she has no idea how her life is about to change again. However when Chase disappears without explanation Stacey is hurt, bewildered and angry.
There is so much danger hiding behind every corner that I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading. From start to finish Ms.Cox wove a story that I was fully invested in and I kept reading well into the night as I needed to know what was going to happen next.
The chemistry and connection between Stacey and Chase is soul deep but their road to a happily ever after will be rocky with twists and turns and mounting danger that will keep you guessing. Lost Hart is a story of love, family and determination to overcome the odds.
Will Chase be able to keep Stacey and her family safe? Will they come to terms with the past and in doing so create the happily ever after they both deserve? You’ll have to one click and find out.

To descibe what im feeling after finishing this book? I'm feeling lost but hopeful and sad but happy. I know that doesnt make any sense but this book had my emotions all over the place. Chase Hart is a very complicated man. His past has now defined how he lives in his present and his future. His strength is something that his family and those who love him can see for miles but all he sees is failures. He loves fiercely and protects even harder. Stacey Saunders has been through the wringer her whole life. She keeps going for her kids who are the light of her life. She was protected by Chase in the purest form of the word. She was being threatened by a mob who was after her dead husband. Chase was her 24/7 bodyguard. He was helping with the kids, doing everyday things until it became too much and he bailed. They have a rocky road and what they endure, i hope no one ever has to but it shows how far Chase will go to protect Stacey and her children. Chase is bullheaded through and through and Stacey is just as bullheaded but in a different way. Whitley Cox has found a family to write that has everything i look for. Teasing brothers, a mother who isnt shy about using their full names when they screw up, heroines who stand up to bullheadedness, and intrigue that brings them all together.

The next Hart brother falls! This book focuses on Chase and while I enjoyed the book, I do feel like I was missing out on a previous book detailing how Chase and Stacey met and what happened with Stacey. I think that would have been great to read before so I could understand Stacey and her character as well as the chemistry and feelings between these two characters. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book of Chase and Stacey finding their way back to each other and giving a relationship a chance. Stacey’s last relationship ended in lies and she’s sworn to never let that happen again. Chase fell in love with Stacey while protecting her, but because of his past he runs away to another job to get space between them, but the heart wants what it wants. When they finally give things a shot, Stacey and her son end up getting targeted by a trafficking group and her son is kidnapped, but thankfully Chase and his brothers have connections and are able to locate her son before things get too far, but in the crossfire, Chase ends up getting kidnapped. We really get to know Chase more and his past and how it’s shaped his adulthood, but overall, I was so happy that Stacey got the HEA she deserved with Chase and so did he. Can’t wait to see if we get more from the other Hart brothers!

Wow! Chase and Stacey’s story had me from page one. These two have a history and one night of passion that is until Chase misunderstands a situation and decides Stacey is better off without him and takes an assignment and leaves. Chase is complicated and he has deep seeded demons that take control over his thoughts when he’s in a dark place. He feels unworthy of love and compassion, he tries to push through, but he always loses.

When these two are thrown together again the feelings are at the forefront for both of them and it’s time to face them head on. These Harty boys are stubborn, bull headed and loyal to a fault and when tragedy strikes they all rally together, but the outcome may end up tearing her family apart in the end.

Can Stacey show Chase how much he’s loved, how much her kids love him and that he's worth it? I absolutely loved this story. It’s very rare for me to tear up while reading and I flat out freaking cried like a baby and to me that’s a great author, someone who gets you to open up and feel what’s going on in their story and you’re not just reading the words on a page. I enjoyed Rochelle and Liam and the others. I've missed them! Amazing read and now that we had a peak at Rex’s story I can’t wait for more.

This is the second book in The Harty Boys series and it is an artfully crafted work that will leave readers with a wide range of emotions when finished. I will caution those with triggers to proceed with care. Chase is a man with his own demons that he is doing his best to deal with the day to day. He is loyal to a fault to those he cares about and his family. Although most would see that as a strength, because of Chase’s past, he only sees it as one of his shortcomings. Stacey has not had an easy life. She has worked hard for everything that she has and her children are the lights of her life. Stacey met Chase when he was protecting her from a mob boss interested in recovering something from her deceased husband. The attraction between Chase and Stacey was off the charts and where she thought that they had something, he just up and disappeared. Life has a way of making wrongs right and Chase winds up in Stacey’s path again. Can these two have what was meant to be theirs? Once again, Ms. Cox has written a moving storyline with characters that feel like one’s own family. Enhancing the narrative is the inclusion of some returning characters to take their part in the action. Overall, this is one stellar read and just shows why this author is such a tour de force when it comes to storytelling. I highly recommend this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Stacey Saunders and Chase Hart. When this book opens we find that Chase has just come back from working a bodyguarding job. When the two of them meet up again the first time since he was Stacey and her children's bodyguard there is a lot of tension between them. We learn that before he left being with them they slept together and by morning he was gone. Stacey doesn't understand what happened and Chase he doesn't want to burden her by telling her. See Chase has some demons that he hasn't quite dealt with yet and because of that he doesn't feel like he is worth to be around others. There are so many things that happen in this book that will have you wondering will they get the HEA they both want or will the demons between them make that impossible?

This is an amazing story. There is so much more I want to tell you. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say though this book will take you on a roller-coaster you won't want to get off of. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone

First let me tell you that Whitley is one of my favourite authors she manages to write characters that are multi dimensional who almost become friends by the time you finish the read and I love how her women are as strong if not stronger than the men they fall in love with The are usually the emotionally strongest of the two and this book is no different

Stacey Saunders life went seriously off track when she discovered her husband was leading a double life and actually had a second family stashed away and then he went and got himself killed and she discovered he had mob ties Luckily she had a protector in Chase Hart as he went about protecting her and her two small children The only problem is after spending a wonderful night together he just disappeared What she doesn't know is that he believes he is to damaged to be good enough for her and the children he has grown to love So when they reconnect months later it will be up to Stacey to prove to Chase that he is more than enough for her and her children

* * I HAD BEEN GIVEN AN ADVANCED READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW * *

I loved this book, it was a bit more raw and amazing than I had been reading about lately so it was a nice change up.

I loved how strong and resilient Stacey is in this story, how she had been dealt shitty hand after shitty hand but still came out the other side.

She had now found life and love within the Heart family and Chase when this go side ways.

And really why would a good romance story be without some miscommunication. And there was a bit of that with our broken and Brooding Chase.

Seeing him in Brock and Krista's book I didn't expect him to be as broken and down as he was here. And I kinda love how it played so well with Stacey and her Trauma, Her children and their mild to sever trauma. It was a book about healing.

There are some mild triggers for a few of you, but it's still a beautiful read and a great and I highly recommend this to you!

10********** stars. WOW! This book is about Chase Hart, the brother who took a six month Peruvian prison sentence for someone else. Now he lives with constant demons. During a protection mission, he falls for the target, Stacey, and her two kids. He feels he’s not a whole man deserving of her love for him. When a crisis occurs, Chase is the leader of the mission and gets captured. Now he has some new demons to deal with. Can they overcome the obstacles and have a life together? This series is quite the departure from the fun Dad’s stories. She does not disappoint. Very well written. Captivates you into the story from the beginning to the very end. It’s so many things; action, intrigue, edge of your seat, cold knot in tour stomach, love and hotness!! Can’t wait for the next Hart brother’s book to come out. Amazing story!

This is the second book in the series and one I was looking forward to. Buckle up because this book is going to take you on one heck of a ride. This book ripped my heart a few times. This book had me on the edge of my seat as well. I'm not gonna lie there was one part I kind of read through my fingers because it was just hard to read what Chase was going through. This book also made my heart happy. Chase is so good with Stacey's kids and his niece and nephew. He reminds me of my cousin when all the kids always gravitate toward him. It broke my heart that Chase feels like he doesn't deserve happiness because he feels too damaged. Stacey is made a sterner stuff and won't let Chase go without a fight. After the journey this book took my heart on the end and epilogue were my reward. It put my heart back together and had my e of my heart happy sighing. This is book is so worth the read. Plus cameos from some of my favorite Whitley Cox characters!

Stacey Saunders hasn't had the best year, but with being a single mother she doesn't get to wallow in things. She was in danger which is how she ended up with Chase as her protection, and during that time, they hooked up but then he disappeared for several months. She truly believed it was her that he was running from, but little did she know that it was him & a lack of communication that torpedoed them. He comes home, and things are tense when she finally forces him to talk so things take a new turn. Lost Hart ticked off every box for me with the twists and/or secrets that don't make friends, the emotions that were pulled out of me, some very hysterically funny sword fighting (and other humorous situations) in the grocery store, heat, two tiny humans trying to steal the show, and the family aspect that fills the readers heart up with love! I have loved everything that Whitley Cox has released but this story leveled up from her normal brilliance so don't miss out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Oh wow, what an emotional rollercoaster this second chance romance will take you on.

Stacey is a single mum to two adorable little ones, she hasn't had it easy and when she found herself in danger and needed a bodyguard she met Chase. As they got to know each other their feelings grew but a misunderstanding lead to Chase walking away from her without a word. Now five months later and Chase is back in her life.
When Stacey once again finds herself in need of help Chase is there for her even if it means risking his own life but Chase also has demons and ones that will never leave him alone will he finally open up and realise that he is worthy of Stacey and her children before its to late.

I'm a massive fan of Whitley Cox and I know I have probably said this before about her other stories but this one totally blew me away. I cannot recommend it enough.

The second of the Hart boys to get a story, this starts out a bit... I don't want to say confusing but I was wondering if I had missed something. As the story goes on we do get the whole story about what had went on, and once we get that story, for me, it puts Chase in a bit of a bad light. Not giving any spoilers what so ever but I will say this triggered me in a way I didn't really know I had. This was my nightmare, heck every parent's nightmare, put into words; and it was done very well! The fact that even though I had to stop a few times and hug my babies, I went straight back in and continued to read until the very last word. In the end I give this 4 stars, not for the content that was disturbing but for the fact that I couldn't feel the chemistry between Chase and Stacey and how the ending worked out really irked me.

Time after time Stacey finds herself picking up the pieces of a broken heart. She first finds out her husband not only was into some shadddy sh**, he had a whole other life. To top it off he winds up dead.
Enter Chase, he is supposed to protect Stacey and her children, so she puts her faith in yet another man. Their connection is deeper than ever, she begins to see a light piering through the darkness, for it to be ripped away in an instant. Again Stacey finds herself picking up the pieces. Chase needed to leave, he had misguided intentions, thinking he was doing what was best for Stacey and the kids. Three months of silence. But when he returns Stacey is not the same sweet, kind hearted women he loved. No in her place was a broken shell of her. Then tragedy strikes again, this time Stacey doesn't think she can recover. Chase has a choice to make, put his demons aside and become the man she needs or walk away and leave someone else to save her family.

This story will grip you by the heartstrings and not let you go till the end. Chase owns a security business with his two brothers. Stacey is a young widow with two small children who needs protection from the mob who was after her deceased husband. Chase is there to protect her. These two have a great connection but Chase gets scared and takes off. After months he comes back. Chase and Stacey both have demons in their background and when fate throws them together again they find a way to face it together head on . Will these two stubborn people find the happiness that's waiting for them? This was an emotional roller coaster ride for me but I'm so glad that I read it. Oh my, this was a good story, it was full of so much pain, grief, anger, darkness, sorrow and self doubt, but was also overflowing with light, laughter, love, support and acceptance. The characters were strong and developed, the story was heartbreaking yet had sweet and sexy moments. There were lots of characters from previous series in this, and it showed the importance of family and friends, plus that there is nothing wrong in needing help, asking for it or letting someone else support you. The story took me on an emotional journey and held my interest, I love The Harty Boys and cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

Chase has had a tough year. After an op that left him in a Peruvian prison for months, he spent five months bodyguarding Stacey Saunders and her children. They finally gave in to their attraction and had a night together, but Chase's PTSD came back and he left during the night. When he came back he saw his shirtless brother hugging Stacey. He assumed they were together and immediately left on another job. Stacey couldn't understand why he had abandoned her and asked when he returned to the family base six months later. Can Chase accept that he misunderstood what he saw? What is going to happen when Stacey's son is kidnapped?

This is a hard to put down book. It does touch on the issue of child trafficking.

I haven't read a Whitley Cox book I haven't loved and this is no exception.
