Chip Zdarsky is a Canadian comic book artist and journalist. He was born Steve Murray but is known by his fan base as Chip Zdarsky, and occasionally Todd Diamond. He writes and illustrates an advice column called Extremely Bad Advice for the Canadian national newspaper National Post's The Ampersand, their pop culture section's online edition. He is also the creator of Prison Funnies and Monster Cops.

Not crazy about this arc. Venom type monsters invading NYC and Matt is trapped in prison and Electra (the new Daredevil) is dealing with the situation. Too big and global for a Daredevil type story . But I guess it is the price we pay for reading about characters in the Marvel universe. When something BIG happens to the city, it happens to EVERYONE. Just not my cup of tea.

So Matt is in prison serving his time and Elektra is out there acting as Daredevil. Then boom, symbiotes everywhere, even invading the prison. It’s a brawl with all parties fighting for their lives. Then that ending happened. Curious to see what Zdarsky does with that.

Haven't been the biggest fan of most of these King in Black tie-ins. I did like that this issue ventured from the standard "fighting Knull's dragon" and actually showed characters being consumed by Knull's symbiote. The ending poses some huge issues for Matt though... clearly.

I'm not following the King In Black event except where it happens to intersect with my regular reading titles. This is only the second instance of that happening. Marauders being the first. Similarly to that, the story was surprisingly good and accessible despite not having an exact understanding of the nature or purpose of the symbiotes. The usual strengths of the writing and artwork are still present. It will be interesting to see if this still holds true in the next issue considering where this one leaves off though.

This just keeps getting better and better! This King in Black event has me so intrigued I'm not reading the main book only Black Cat, Daredevil and Valkyries but still! Matt being corrupted by Knull was honestly a shock to me, his Venom design is great though!
