Is this a good idea, or will it be a catastrophe?A question Ellen Rosings can apply to multiple areas of her life. Revising the Wisteria Tearoom's inner spaces and advancing her investigation into Captain Dusenberry's murder are only a couple of the stops along the way as Ellen contemplates big life changes ahead. She and Tony are looking for a place where they can live together—but complications arise in the form of an unexpected visitor to the tearoom. Will Ellen lose her heart...again?
Patrice Greenwood was born and raised in New Mexico, and remembers when the Santa Fe Plaza was home to more dusty dogs than trendy art galleries. She has been writing fiction longer than she cares to admit, perpetrating over twenty published novels in various genres. She uses a different name for each genre, thus enabling her to pretend she is a Secret Agent.
She loves afternoon tea, old buildings, gourmet tailgating at the opera, ghost stories, costumes, and solving puzzles. Her popular Wisteria Tearoom Mysteries are colored by many of these interests. She is presently collapsed on her chaise longue, sipping Wisteria White tea and planning the next book in the series.
I'm not a fan of the Intermezzos since they aren't actually a mystery. Yet I feel compelled to read them to see what is happening with the characters when there is no mystery afoot. And at roughly 100 pages, it isn't a huge time investment. This was my least favorite of the Intermezzos since it felt like we were going through Ellen's To-Do list and trust me, I've got my own list to keep track of. Then I remembered the name, "Household Matters" so yes, getting things organized and checking off the list seemed more appropriate. The kitten storyline was distracting and although I am a major animal lover, I didn't want to read about that one. I love the Wisteria Tearoom series and I am really looking forward to Book 8, "A Valentine for One" whenever that is released.
It is almost Valentines day and Ellen and Tony are apartment hunting with no luck. Nothing in their price range even looks half decent. Ellen finds a kitty and of course is still trying to solve the murder of Captain Dusenberry. I love that Ellen and Tony though quite different love and care about each other and only want to make each other happy. Though sometimes Tony is a bit silent and grumpy his obvious love for Ellen is wonderful and hers for him. I love all the side characters from the tearoom but wish that we saw more of Tony's friends and family. A great story line and series.
This was a lovely little story. The author is providing little novelettes that don't have mysteries in them, but advance the chronological story. I am enjoying them.
Sadly, the information at the back of this book asks me to join a social media site. I did so and then was given a bunch of Fox News garbage. So THAT lasted less than 10 minutes. I will probably sign up for her newsletter though. I am enjoying the series.
Not my favorite book of the series. Too many pages wasted on the cat story line and I thought that Ellen acted out of character with the decision she made at the end of the book. This novella was not very interesting or enjoyable like the previous books. Waited so long for this and was disappointed.
Liked this one. Always liked the series, but one of the things I've found quite odd throughout is Ellen's attitude to her queer friends & colleagues - it's always been very early 90s, and the books aren't historicals. Somewhat dragged into the 2000s (if perhaps not the 2020s!) here in a nice idyll with friends and family.
Patrice Greenwood is a painter with works and a wonderful story teller. Her descriptive powers make you feel as if you are personally witnessing as the story unfolds. I have not been disappointed with any of her books!
As always, I couldn't put it down until halfway through. I can't wait until the next book comes even though genius can't be rushed. The only thing missing was The Bird Lady.
Ellen and Tony are engaged! Now, they need to concentrate on all the planning that needs to be done. One of the big decisions is where they will live when they start their new life together. Then, one bitter cold, snowy night Fate sends something to greatly complicate their choices...
A new small visitor enlivens a quest for new digs for Ellen and Tony in this pleasant novella amid more tantalizing gastronomic delicacies. Delightfully recommended read!!!
