We are not going to be a family!

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

This is going to be a short review but I really wanted to talk about this book for a bit.

I grabbed up this one, because one I am wanting to look for more alien romance to read and also I am wanting to read more indie authors and yeah this cover is interesting haha but I love a good fated mates but also my weakness is the whole "nanny" character type, with some fun little kiddies that drive the hero a bit crazy. Our hero, is king of his people, but when his brother and his wife are killed in a accident which leaves a set of triplets orphans, he takes in his brothers kids. But he has no clue how to handle them, so he then orders a human woman to take care of them. She does teach kids, so he feels like she would be perfect for the job never planning that this human female would be his fated mate....

It was quite an interesting story here and I found myself intrigued by the story and the series as a whole. Now it was only a three star, and let me explain why. I liked the story, I liked the characters, the plot was fun but it wasn't a story that just won me completely. I was frustrated with the first half of the story, I didn't care for the hero's arrogance and how he treats the heroine. I like my alpha males, but he just didn't have many redeemable qualities that I could truly enjoy. The story was likeable as a whole and a good palette cleanser. Just something fun to read in between the more serious books.

I’m always drawn towards books involving single moms or single dads because I love it when there are children involved. I just love children! Unfortunately, the children in this book were nothing but window dressings for our couple. They held no importance to the plot at all.

I felt sorry for them because they were stuck with a stuck-up for a father—an irresponsible father who did not give a single shit about them whatsoever. He wasn’t interested in getting to know them and he treated them like pests.

The only time he paid attention to the children was when he wanted to see the heroine. So yeah, the children were nothing but an excuse for him to get his dick wet. It was so annoying.

The hero was also, like I said. A stuck-up. And not that even in a hot~ way. He was just a giant douche. He was arrogant and was almost always rude to the heroine. But you know, it was all fine and dandy, because the heroine easily forgave him for everything he did anyway. So, whatever.

If you like to read entertaining slow-burn Sci-Fi alien romances with HEA’s then this is the book for you. Personally I found it quite riveting to read & it had me turning pages in great anticipation to where the story would lead to next. The plot is interesting & has good world building with some intriguing scene descriptions. The characters are likable with opposing personalities & at times they are inclined to be somewhat confrontational.
There is: a arrogant king (Kravath) orders a feisty human female teacher (Liara Zavier) to look after a three heartbroken triplets after their parents died, drama, twists & turns, intrigue, mystery, adventure, action, defiance, manipulations, threats, choices, challenges, jealousy, surprises, complications, steamy scenes, contentment & a happy ending.

I was not planning on doing a review. But after reading such descriptions and applause for this book, I feel the need to explain my 2 starts.

Needs editing. I'm bilingual and that have made me very easy going when dealing with errors, I make them and I can understand others making them too. In this book it was a shocking, it even made me stop a couple of times to wonder out loud "Que carajo fue eso?" lol

The kiddos...those poor fictional kiddos, I don't think anyone really loves them. They were just put there for excuses and cuteness but the King and Nanny(DIOSSS, PERO QUE MUCHO REPITIERON ESO) just had the same thoughts and feelings...lets bottom line this and say that for a short read, this felt eternal.

Also, the "King" was a abusivo de 💩, didn't liked him at all.

En fin...weird read. Very weird and very bad.

Boring

Other than being boring it was just ok. No sparks nothing really happened.small incidents two action scenes ..lackluster at best. Most of the book was them thinking about each other and repetitive thoughts of I can't love her or him I'm king or I'm a nanny .... Boring

Training the king
This was such a fantastic story! I really enjoyed the characters, especially those triplets, the authors made their interactions open and realistic and I loved the spark between the nanny and the king every time they were together. The story is full of moments where they each had to overcome a difference in upbringing and emotions were high throughout the book. And what’s a good romance without those defining moments of fear and danger when facing an enemy. The authors did a wonderful job with this story, keeping me glued to the edge of my seat from the beginning. I absolutely love this book and can’t wait to read the next story from these authors.

A lovely character-driven story and I enjoyed most of it! Lieria was wonderful, she was well developed, and it was easy to know where she was coming from. The triplets were adorable as well. It was the king that bugged me. His character was too bipolar to get attached to. I loved the emerging love story, and the plot was easy to follow. There are a few tastefully done love scenes and overall, the book was easy to read right through.

Yikes. This read like a modern romance that just happened to have an alien as the male lead. The dialogue felt off, the story was underdeveloped and pacing was poor.

Aliens and humans are my kink, not gonna lie. But this story was pretty bad.

Nanny for the Alien by Athena Storm and Tara Starr.
Intergalactic Fated Mates Book 12.
I’m a practical woman. Faced with a very impractical problem.
Absolutely brilliant read. Read in one sitting. Loved Qira and Ferryn. Not Brel or his wife. I do hope there is more to come. 5*.

I’m a fan of alien and human romances, this was a very nice read. Well written and thought out, the two lead characters certainly had chemistry, I liked the way the tension between them was built up.
I will certainly check out other books by these two authors.

Definitely needs and editor....incorrect words within sentences out of the blue. But I think the most glaring error was the ending of Chapter 19 had Kravath lying down in bed after having Liara care for his wounds, and it was as if it never happened, because in Chapters 20 & 21, Kravath is still getting his wounds bandaged and they end up in bed???? What the heck! Looks like the authors couldn't figure out how they wanted the scene to play out and provided both scenario's. And why is Chapter 38 considered the Epilogue? It is just Liara's perspective of their Wedding night??? I think the author's forgot what an Epilogue was. I agree with other reviewers, I was beginning to get bored at about 50%. Not very well written in my humble opinion.
I read this book via Kindle Unlimited and frankly it wasn't worth my time and $$. Was not impressed. Didn't like the story dynamics

Did not finish at 13%. I'm always looking for new authors and this was my first try with this one. But it has all the problems of the worst of alien romances... mainly an overly American view of the universe that emphasizes the worst of American stereotypes. Also, there's insta-lust where they are inexplicably drawn to each other but also talk to each other without respect.

We're on a different world here, with a monarch. The heroine immediately sasses the king and says "nope. not going to do what you just asked". What!? That makes no sense. At the least, ask "would you tell me more?" or "I would be willing to, but must closeout my other work". The response doesn't make sense. Such an American idea that you could sass a ruler with no provocation. It's irritating because it doesn't even make sense. And it's not plucky... it's just dumb and rude. Also, unkind to the poor kids right in front of you to say "I don't give a crap about these kids".

Also, the setup makes no sense. Why wouldn't royal children have attendants/nannies/nursemaids? What? Who used to take care of them? I don't care if their mother was involved... with triplets, she had to have help.

The heroine makes "one condition" which is to get her things? What!? First of all, that should be a basic expectation and second of all, I could think of a lot of conditions that I would ask for before that. Like a clear understanding of what duties are required and whether she would have any time off! Or being able to close out her business and let her friends know where she went. Or asking what her living arrangements would be, etc.

She approaches the king with her demands of what the triplets need. Uh. Wouldn't there be a ton of people to ask before she went back to this guy?

I have no patience for a book that doesn't make sense at all.

I enjoyed this story of an Alien King, Kravath who has become the guardian of his brother’s
3 young toddlers after the brother and wife’s untimely deaths.
This responsibility is not a position the stalwart, egotistical ruler of the Ocean Kingdom wants to be in.
He decides to find them a dedicated caretaker and human Liara who runs a school for human children becomes his choice. Liara isn’t given much of a say in the matter other than nanny or dungeon!
It’s obvious from their first antagonistic meeting there is a spark of something more simmering between these two.
The world building was interesting around the Kiphian race and the humans who reside as lower class citizens on their planet. I would have liked a little more insight and fleshing out of that situation but it doesn’t detract from the stories development.
The children are adorable and Liara soon comes to love them as they her.
Kravath learns a lot about himself as he tries to deny the mate bond he feels for Liara and
through a series of tense moments, sentimental and sensual encounters the story does reach an HEA.
Way too soon for me though as I have many unanswered questions!
All in all another good Athenaverse read!

This is an OK sci-fi alien romance, but the H was hard to like. It gets 3 stars from me.

I thought it was more lust than love, especially for Liara. They just didn't know each other well enough to fall in love so quickly. I get that Kravath realized Liara was his fated mate when she touched him, but Liara was human -- so she wouldn't have felt the mate bond.

One complaint is that the story needed more character development. I wanted more backstory on both Kravath and Liara.

Kravath was difficult to like. He was a king, and behaved with all the arrogance that was typical of that role. He treated Liara terribly, especially at first, when he forced her to be the nanny for his nieces and nephew. Even after he realized she was his mate, he still occasionally reverted to his "angry and commanding" king mode, even with Liara. I honestly didn't understand why Liara fell in love with him.

Liara was likable, and I liked that she was so good with Kravath's nieces and nephew. She seemed to instinctively know how to deal with children, even those from an alien race. I did think, though, that she was mostly in lust, not love, with Kravath -- why would she fall in love with him when he forced her to work for him, and then sometimes yelled at her, too? I just didn't buy it.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Very good story!

I loved this story! I love these types of books where the nanny hooks up with the king! 🤤😍 yeah, I know the king is always a huge 🍆🍆🍆 and there was no difference here although Kravath’s inner monologue was more understanding and sweet and he was quick to be more tender he did have his more unreasonable traits. Liara, well I can’t really blame her because look at the position she’s in. She’s the nanny for Pete’s sake lol. The king will have to totally set precedence here when it comes to expressing feelings and making moves. He’s in a position of power and in the ruling class. She’s a servant. The chemistry was hot between them. It was an interesting take on fated mates though. I haven’t seen a book before where it kinda takes time to discover ones fated mate. Most just know. Also it was an interesting read to discover the dual societal existence. I would have like it if the authors went further into the story by a chapter or two just to show us how they lived their HEA. It ended way to abruptly for me. To be honest that kind of upset me and if it was possible I would have taken off .5 stars but since it isn’t possible I won’t ding a complete star. That isn’t fair. But I think the authors should think more about that when ending their books. Give their readers just a little taste of the good life after the hook up. Since this story there was already an insta-family etc. I’m sure most of us would have love to seen how they faired. I know I sure would have. How is the first human queen holding up? How did the people accept her? That kind of thing. I hope this doesn’t put people off by reading the book. I really loved it. This is just my small gripe is all. I look forward to the others in the serious. I absolutely love these types of books 🤤😁 and I’m itching to start them! This 🐻 gave this book 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Athena always provides a good read. I’ve only read a couple from the duo and each time I’ve liked it. So it’s always a pleasurable read. Pick this one up!

This was a quick and a very enjoyable read, the main characters drew me in right from the start and wouldn’t let go till the end. King Kravath rules the ocean realm with an iron fist and has the respect of everyone in his kingdom but his world was shattered when his brother Balak and his wife Feerla are killed when a building collapses over them with just enough time to save the children by throwing them clear. And now in the throne room with these triplets screaming and crying is driving him crazy as one of the pages tries to settle them but to no use. We need a female for these kids but female Kiphians don’t look after kids only female humans do so so that’s what he needs and wants now, finding out that the human Liara Zavier is the best she is ordered to the palace. Wondering what she has done consumes her because there two races don’t mix at all in 25 yrs on there planet Kiphia but she will soon see what is wrong. The King Kravath is breathtaking gorgeous and Liara is shocked by her thoughts in that moment that are raw, lusty hot and heavy and when the King looks at her for the first time all time seems to stop for him while he catches his breath stunningly beautiful she is are his thoughts among other impure ones. Liara is ordered to look after 3 crying children in the room or go to the dungeons it’s her choice but is it really. Then everyone leaves the throne room and in that moment her heart breaks for the children sobbing and goes to comfort them and within a few minutes they are cuddling her back. Can one stubborn arrogant King get over himself enough and put the kids needs and hers above himself or will these two Liara and Kravath finally work out what they have both been looking for is in each other and are the allowed to be together and have a future. Loved this book

Liars and Kravath are from two entirely different backgrounds - she a human who teaches and cares for young children and he’s an alien king who rules his realm. He has Liara brought to the palace and tells her she is now responsible for his triplet nieces and nephew. They are 2 years old and newly orphaned.

Liara is extremely upset with Kravath and his high-handed and rude behavior towards her, and even though he is the king she lets loose with her temper and tells him off. The triplets are adorable and quickly pull at Liara’s heart. She has more than a few verbal battles with Kravath over what’s best for the children.

A slow burn romance starts to develop as each of them realize they are attracted to the other. As Kravath visits with the children each day he and Liara have an opportunity to slowly get to know each other a little better and begin to bond.

After she heard Kravath was hurt in a battle with a sea alien, Liara is overwhelmed with concern over Kravath. She invades his rooms which is where Kravath finds her when he gets back to his bedroom weary and hurting from the battle. Liara tends to his wounds and their chemistry takes over and they have a very steamy encounter. Neither share their feelings or show any hint of whether their night of passion meant anything. Misunderstandings and different cultural expectations need to be resolved.

This was a pretty entertaining read with a good storyline. I did have a little difficulty connecting with the Liara and Kravath as a couple. I wish the author would have given us a few more chapters before the epilogue to let us see what happened when Kravath announced his relationship to his advisors and his people.

Liara Zavier and King Kravath had a difficult start, but it didn’t take long for the reader to see how perfect they were for each other. Liara’s experience in teaching and providing daycare for children brought her to Kravath’s attention. He needed a nanny for his deceased brother’s “wild” children since he was now their guardian and had no idea what to do with them. Liara herself was feisty, stubborn, and totally not afraid to stand up for herself to the King. The children were now her responsibility. And when she told him “No”, he gave her the option of caring for the “brats”, as he called them, or going to the dungeon!

Their banter back and forth is very enjoyable. The pacing of the story line will keep the reader involved and entertained at the battle of wills going on. My favorite part was when the angry Liara is left in the room with the crying Kiphian toddlers that no one knew how to handle. Evidently their people are not nurturing types. But with everyone hurrying out of the room, her heart went out to the triplets and she sat on the floor with them, told them a rhyming story, and comforted them as they climbed into her lap. Almost immediately, they stopped crying and responded to the love they felt from her. If she was trying to get out of the job, that was probably not the best way to convince them to let her go. However, her fate was already laid out as Kravath, although he tried to ignore it, realized Liara was his mate. Would there be a HEA for them? Or were humans unacceptable mates, especially for the King?

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Laira Zavier and Kravath. Kravath has been given custody of his brother and sister-in-laws children after they were tragically killed. He knows nothing about toddlers and having the triplets under foot while he tries to handle business is just becoming to much. So as king he knows he can order anyone to take care of them. He realizes though no one around him know how to deal with the children either so he sends his people out to get a woman that he chooses from the human colony to be their new nanny. What he never expected was his reaction to this woman. Laira has been working with the human children in the colony as the only teacher. She really likes what she does but wishes for children of her own. So when she is summoned to the palace she doesn't know what she has done but knows she must go. When she learns what her new responsibilities are she pushes back because there is just something about the king that she's not so sure about. Will these two find a HEA or will the responsibilities they both have be more than they can handle?

This is a good story. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I have read several books in this series. And it's always the same in every book : The conversations between the lovers are superficial, stupid and naive. The stories themselves are good. But the communication and thoughts and actions of the main characters are so meager, it's not nice anymore! This ruined every single book for me!
Not to mention the " refusing the feelings for each other but jump in bed, so in love the next minute ". After that the dude avoids the female after having sex with her and for some stupid reason , she does not ask herself if he just used her... nope she waits all in love for him to show his face again , days later .. You can decide if the female is a slut or just stupid, same with the dude. The books could be very good and interesting if the Author would make them act like real people would. Even Aliens can not be that stupid! I noticed this "interaction" problem with all the books of this Author. Author is not capable it seems, to write a good conversation. Can not explain deep feeling or thoughts well at all. The Sex scenes are boring and rushed. It is all superficial and mostly meaningless and does not make sense what so ever. Like filling in pages so the book gets thicker... week character building and explanation. It bothers me that today it seems, there is no control and advice for book riders in place, so you buy books, waste your money on something , years ago, you would have never found in a book store.

Opening His ❤️ Up To Love
First off, I’d like to say that this is my 1st time reading a book in the Athenaverse. While there is a good bit of background information towards the beginning of the book, it was all paced well, and I never felt lost or confused. So I can safely say that even if this is your 1st book in the Athenaverse, you will thoroughly enjoy it. As for how the book was....AMAZING! Liara and Kravath were meant to be, even if she is simply in the palace as a nanny for his late brother’s children. She is stubborn, outspoken, and isn’t afraid to give the king a piece of her mind. Kravath it seems is an entitled brat, but it doesn’t take long for Liara to get to the bottom of who he really is because he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. I will admit to tearing up quite a bit towards the end of the book, and also laughing more than I expected due to their banter back and forth. This story took me through a whirlwind of emotions...laughter, frustration, tears, but mostly smiles at the beautiful interaction between a king, his nieces and nephews, and the nanny who would be queen ❤️

The children were the real stars of the story as their individual personalities are revealed. At times they seemed a bit mature for their age and then they'd be back to what you expect for a toddler. The romance part of the story was between the human nanny and King Kravath. Liara had been a teacher and day care provider in the human area of the planet. King Kravath is overwhelmed when he ends up caring for his orphaned nieces and nephews. He needs a nanny stat and since their women don't work, he sends someone to the human sector to fetch the human that is known as the best in caring for children. I admired Liara's personality and her strength in standing up for herself and the children. She was the only one who would stand up to him. She was kind, loving, protective and would do anything she could for the kids. The King cam across as rather gruff but had a really soft side he didn't want to show to others lest they consider him weak. When fate made itself known, he tried to ignore it but you can only fight fate for so long before you have to pay attention. Liara and Kravath were perfect together and got their HEA in spite of Kravath's missteps.

King Kraveth and Liara the nanny I wanted to really enjoy this book it had its moments and I did finish it the book started out well but both Kraveth and Liara spent way to much time in there heads or talking out loud to know one but themselves they need to communicate more and spend less time trying to figure the dynamics of there relationship it wasn't till the end of the book that they finally got it together and stopped all that head talk. Which is why I was disappointed the blurb was great Liara starts out all outspoken not caring that he's a king then she got all wishy-washy. Kraveth was just arrogant and stupid about the whole mate thing first he resist then decided to do something about it only to put his foot in his mouth later on after a particular moment there was some scary actin with and alien squid thing the triplets were funny and had personality this book just needed more secondary characters and less self talk moments and I could give it 4 stars as is 3.4 stars read.

Just Okay

This book tells the story of Liara, a human woman, and Kravath, King of the Ocean Realm on the planet Kiphia. Kravath’s brother and his wife have died and custody of their 3 children has fallen to Kravath. He knows nothing about children except that they are disrupting his peace.

Liara runs a school/day care center for the human children that Kravath’s advisors have told him about. He orders them to bring Liara to him. When she arrives, he informs her that she is now the nanny to his brother’s children. Even though she doesn’t want the job, King Kravath makes it clear that this is not a job offer, it’s a command!

In the meantime, Kravath is struck by her beauty, which he wasn’t expecting. And as he gets to know her further, he discovers something else he absolutely wasn’t expecting. To find out what, you need to read the book!

My biggest problem with the book is that it felt like the author was telling us the story instead of letting us live the story. I was unable to really connect with the characters although others may not have had that problem. My rating: 3 stars.

2.75 ⭐s for a Good Book with Some Glitches

Overall, I enjoyed the story. At first it kinda gave me "The King and I" vibes. However, Yul Brynner was a much more likeable character. The king in this book is a complete jack🐴! And the heroine's "fire" wasn't really consistent, which was a bit disappointing.

Also, I noticed some errors. No shade to the authors on this though. It could've been slips through cracks made by anyone in the editing process. Some errors even looked like they were made due to cut and pasted lines and change of view points. Meh, it happens. I just noticed because I'm a methodical reader rather than a skimmer, even when reading for pleasure.

Although it may not sound like it from my critiques, I did enjoy the story line and plot. But honestly, the best part of the whole book was the triplets. They were absolutely adorable and so well written. Every scene involving them made the book--in my humble opinion.

Overall, I give this one 2.75 Stars for a good book with some glitches. With another round of editing and a bit more growth from the king and the nanny, I'd easily bump my rating up to 3.25 Stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC
Kravath is royalty with the entitled attitude that goes with it. When he is left with his brothers 3 toddlers to raise he decides to bring a human woman to deal with the responsibility. Enter Liara. She is brought to the palace against her will and, even though, she and Kravath throw sparks from their first meeting she can't help but fall for the triplets and give them her all. When Kravath realizes she is his fated mate, a mate he doesn't want to have, their story explodes. The chemistry between these two is so intense it oozes from the pages. I loved how Kravath slowly realizes what has been missing from his life as Liara brings him and the toddlers together as a family. Because of the difference in their stations their story has definite hurdles they must overcome and oh what fun it was to watch Kravath grow into the man and not just the king. This is Athena Storm at her finest!
