The Time Bubble #2

Global Cooling

Rate this book
Ten years after the events of The Time Bubble, the team battle for survival after an apocalyptic weather event.

In 2029, Earth is hit by a major climate catastrophe. An asteroid strike blankets the globe in dust and ash, blocking out the sunlight. Soon temperatures begin to fall. As weather conditions worsen, the residents of a small market town in southern England must make a decision - flee south or wait for the worst to pass.

With power supplies failing and food scarce, survival is at stake as those with darker motives seek to take advantage of the situation. For those heading south, can the discovery of a new Time Bubble provide a way out?

This story is the second part of an epic series exploring the time travel genre in original and innovative ways. The novels follow the main characters from youth to middle age as they jump forwards, backwards, and sideways into alternate worlds.

What I love about this series so far, is that it is so easy to read. Not meaning that in a way that takes anything from the content. But it is quickly into the action, not over-complicated or convoluted. They are addictive - you just want to carry on reading the story - and then it ends. They are easy to follow and it's easy to get to know his characters and his world. You feel that you live the period with the characters that it's set in. They are clear science fiction, that is as true to real life as can be. And I intend to work my way through the whole series.

This continues to be absorbing and unusual time travel. This kept me entertained and hooked until the end. The character of Dan disturbingly reminds me of someone I know.

Interesting mix

A time travel basis to the story, yes - but also global warming, global cooling along with a descent into partial anarchy.

Yet another entertaining book by Jason Ayes. Very fast paced that deals both with time travelling and natural disaster. Almost all the major characters from the first book are here but 10 years older. I love his characters development (not extremely deep yet affable people) and story telling. Biggest disappointment was just as the action was getting exciting, he cuts the book short. I can't wait to read the conclusion to the series.

A great quick read to fill in some gaps from book one in the series

This was an enjoyable short(ish) update from book one, filling in some blanks, not all of them pleasant.
The characters develop, or don't, depending on your point of view.
There were some disturbing, if not unsurprising, insights into the effect on the Earth of a change in climate - albeit this not entirely our fault.
Onto book three.

Having stumbled on the first book in the Time Bubble series, and really enjoying it, I had to try the next in the series. I'm certainly glad that I did. It continues the adventures of the cast of the first book and sees how they do through a catastrophic incident. The incident itself was mentioned briefly in the first book and is really interesting to actually find out what happened.

I don't really want to go into too much of the plot as it's really good discovering it when reading it yourself. What I would say though, is if you enjoyed the first in the series, you have to read this. I'm about to get the next one and I cannot wait.

This is a really cool series. In this Time Bubble installment, we revisit the characters from the first book during one of the time periods that was only briefly in the first book, Winter 2029-30.

A comet and an asteroid collide, asteroid hits earth, and sets off an event in the atmosphere that completely cools the world. London is totally buried in snow for months, along with much of the world. Some characters flee south, some take shelter, others take advantage of martial law, and some continue studying the existence of other time bubbles. In short, this is a really cool series about time travel that I highly recommend.

This is the second book in "The Time Bubble" series, and I love it. I just started the third, Man Out Of Time and will report on that soon. These books are short, which stirs the idea of a money grab, but I don't care. It's the new way of the world and I would be wise to learn from it. I'm happy to pay the man for good stories.

I love this mini series... really didnt expect much from it, but the story is great with different points of view. I read them all and sad that the story has come to an end. Absolutely brilliant, if you like time travel with a twist this ones for you. Love how the author has pieced it all together, you had me hooked from the start.

Only down side I noticed was there is a couple of errors with in the text. But doesn't affect the story at all, 5 stars from me

You won’t want to put it down!

This book is excellent. It is in the not too distant future. Has time leaped or is it strangely believable. I read this book quickly and eagerly. The characters from the 1st book Time Bubble continue to be earthy and interesting. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

Time: an elastic concept especially when warped

I liked this book. A very original concept concerning a 'time-bubble' in a market town in in SE England, and the ensuing chaos\adventures it causes.
Characters are very believable, they make mistakes left, right and centre. But somehow, it all comes out in the wash. Or should that be 'in the bubble?

This book was absolutely amazing and terrifying at the same time. It hit too close to home with the Covid-19 times! It was a really interesting read and I preferred it to the first book. This one felt more detailed and went more into the lives of the characters. I am amazed at how the author could keep up with the many various plotlines.

In short: I recommend this book and the series 100%

story time contd…

Ok, so the twists have begun with huge promise for the next 11+ books! Good times ahead :D

These are an easy read. I completed the first two in a day each and have not taken time off work :) This is a testament to the author’s writing style. Looking forward to the third instalment.

Great story

I loved this book! I highly recommend it. Ayres created an interesting and fun take on time travel. Both books in this series were very well written and enjoyable to read. The characters were relatable and well described. I can't wait to read the next book. I hope he continues to write more.

Like others, I find the series addictive. Clearly, Ayres must have mapped out the arcs in detail because he keeps all the balls and hoops in the air and drops them at the most opportune moment. The characters are well etched, but don't interrupt the fast moving action. The slow reveal of how this time travel system works intrigues me and I look forward to seeing how it evolves. On to book 3.

I always like to know how young character grows up. In this book we have the sequence of the characters of TIME BUBBLE. Good book, but I felt sorry for Lauren. And there are lots of unfinished threads. The next book should solve It.

Well, this was pretty exciting! Not perhaps to the level it could've been if all of the secrets hadn't been given away in the first book, but there were some interesting deaths, and there's a final title to tidy up the last set of loose ends, which now of course I have to consume.

The Story continues

Second in the series and just as intriguing. Hats off to the author for delivering another splendid take on time travel. Reads like a cross between The Time Machine and The Day After Tomorrow. Splendid.

Oh my.....

I think that this is going to get awfully complicated with stories intertwining all over the place. The author must have mapped it all out on a whiteboard the size of London. Great second part to the series. Looking forward to the rest.

Disappointing, I rather enjoyed the first book in the time travel series. But other than one "discovery" in this novel, there is very little reference to time travel, and we already know how one problem is resolved due to the events in the first book.

another cracking read

Just like book 1, it’s a page turner that I couldn’t put down.
Like that the characters you meet in book 1, become more familiar, and jumps in time in book 1 get filled.
Ready for book 3 now!

I think I liked this volume more than the original Time Bubble. But of course you need to read that one for this second novel to make sense. Seems that Ayres has taken on a gigantic project. So far, so good.

Another episode in this series of books excellent reading with flashbacks to book one clarifying some of the incidents featured while taking the main story forward, very well thought out making for a very interesting novel. I enjoyed it immensely and recommend very highly.

Time Travel and much more...

One of the best time travel novels I have read. The book also described a natural disaster that has a massive impact on the UK and elsewhere.
I strongly recommend reading this book. I am going to start reading the next book in the series today!

I just love these time travel books. Interesting food for thought in this one should there be an asteroid strike on Earth. The stories have all the characters, the goodies, the badies and a few well treated lab rats. Can't wait to get onto the next in the series 😁

I like this series because I love any books that have a time travel component to them. It’s a fairly quick read, but is very well thought through and clever.
