Intriguing and sends your thoughts into all directions
Great use of time travelling options! The earlier books feel a little basic and aimed at YA but even then the story was interesting and the characters easy to get on with. It’s not a complex book like 11.22.63 but great to be immersed in the authors vision of the future, which I felt was treated with an air of potential authenticity rather than hover boards and instant transportation etc. Each book made you want to see what happened next and I really enjoyed the storylines, even if you needed to check in on the time zone every now and then. Fun to revert back to the past and integrate that with more current lifestyles. Have downloaded the next box set and can’t wait to get started!
The stories were simplistic but the time traveling complexities provided thought provoking entertainment. The novelty of time travel never got old as you move through each story line.
Outstanding, unique in the field of time travel, these are books both men and women of a certain age can deeply appreciate. As each song, or public performance was praised in the books, I would play them in the background, adding to an impressive playlist. From Pub to public, personal to social history, these are told from the personal perspective of each member of the Time Bubble Team (and a few of their antagonists). Worth reading for a lark, and for intense mystery, and historical triptych you'll see this series evolve from YA adventure to serious adult murder mystery. If you feel the current #CoronaCation looping you through quarantine Groundhog Day, then this is the perfect readers companion.
Fairly Amusing Once You Get 1/2 Way Thru 1st Book ...
The character development in Book #1 is horrible to go through, and The Reader will likely want to abandon the book/series quite early; there just doesn’t seem to be must correlation with Scifi. BUT — Hang in there! Books #1-#5 are much, much better than the beginning would leave you to believe, and the tales are mostly OK, except for Book #5 — THERE, The Author goes off on a set of wild reactions, and frankly — the last plot was not all that good, nor as well developed as the previous stories.
As science fiction this series may lack the edginess of other time travel books, but it does present some interesting comparisons between characters of different eras and how their choices lead to future circumstances. In that sense it reads more like a travel log and commentary on past, present, and future culture and events than a sci-fi adventure.
Nice clean time travel yarn with suspense, romance is heartache
I enjoyed reading this set of books. They dovetail together nicely. Bringing current world political intrigue into the plot along with real people from the past makes this come alive. Being a lifelong fan of sci-fi I loved seeing mention of a lot of my favorite authors, movies and television shows into the mix was big plus. I hope to see this in the big screen. Good job
Reminiscent of the Tardis in doctor Who with a smattering of Billnand Teds adventures,
This is a viable read slow in some places and eye opening in others, if only itwas true, I found myself rhinking at times. Beautifully written and fast flowing generally, an enjoyable read, dont plan on doing anything else as it is very hard to put down, once you start. Off two read 6-10 now. Thanks for filling my days.
Although the story does get a little convoluted at times, I found the series to be a thoroughly entertaining read. At times the ease in which characters seem willing to accept the possibility of time travel seems a little farfetched (unlike time travel itself of course), but otherwise great fun. I particularly enjoyed the twists in the alternate universes, when changing a historic event reverberates down the ages😁😁.
All 5 books are great, exploring various problems if time travel is possible. It's mostly set around Oxford in the UK. Google maps and nearly everything and every place is real and can be looked up, which makes the books far more fun. Even some of the pubs mentioned still exist. Anyway the book is superbly written and a joy to read, I would definitely recommend. Might visit Oxford just to see it.
review of The Time Bubble books 1-5 by Jason Ayres
This was an amazing read or me I love time travel books and this one was exceptionally good the author cleverly weaves his story line and characters thru out all 5 books it didn't take me too long to read I couldn't put it down our heroes accidentally discover a portal or bubble that can transport one person back in time and the fun starts there a very interesting read I highly recommend it
I can't believe I read the whole thing, like over 1,000 pages of meat and potatoes time travel shuffling the main characters through time and space with shifting stories and Various points of view. It takes a real writer to handle LONG series like this and and not drive you running for the hills. It's worth it.
I've read the first three of these novels before and I gave the first of them four stars, because the central idea was interesting, and the others three stars because they were easy and fun to read but not inspiring. Reading the whole set, I still feel the same way. This is a quick and light series, suitable for a holiday or in my case, COVID-19 lockdown.
Charlie and Josh noticed how a person could appear and disappear in a tunnel. First two seconds then four seconds so the time doubled. Later Josh found a way to time travel any where he wanted. He did get into some pretty bad problems but Jason Ayers has a way of writing as a mystery.
Fun introduction develops into multilayered series, with entertaining episodes of adventures and misadventures through time, alongside exploration of time travel and it's paradoxes, fitting seamlessly into the storyline. Well developed characters, enjoyable story and not a little whimsical (though some bitingly satirical) nostalgia.
Time travel story that doesn’t disappoint. The last book in the series has quite a bit of humor. The characters are well developed and interesting. Best time travel book I’ve read in a long time!
I really enjoyed this series and do recommend it if the reader has a science fiction appropriate imagination. It got very complicated to keep track of the characters and their happenings. Good ending.
I bought the Kindle version of this off of Amazon. Different take on the time travel genre. I really enjoyed being able to read all 5 books at once. I totally enjoyed how he veered off from time to time and highlighted a minor character from the first book. Pretty easy to read as well.
These books are somewhat clunkily written, the plot and conclusions are often hurried and extremely simplistic and there are typos galore, but there is something about getting to know different aspects of all the different characters' lives that is strangely addictive and makes you want to read on.
I found the writing sloppy and inconsistent, with at least one glaring continuity error. The plots varied - some of the five books were solid and enjoyable, hence the two stars. But the author spent too much time explaining the scenes, at times, creating a turgid telling of the tale.
I really enjoyed reading this 5 book boxset. It was really interesting reading about all that could go wrong if you changed the past while going back in time. The characters are really good too. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book series.
Interesting concept but clearly written by a man who can't imagine a society that might evolve beyond its current patriarchal limits. Women reading these books will quickly get bored.
I this author time travel adventures stories. I completed his 1st volume and now on to the next 2nd volume. I couldn't put it down as I throughly enjoy reading these books. Overall a great read of a book. Best wishes Sean
Absolutely astounding read. Very well written, pacy with brilliant characterisation and time travel, crime (almost) sci-fi and humour thrown in for good measure. I'm hooked.
Interesting idea but not a great delivery. The characters are shallow and the stories are not particularly interesting. I only made it to the end of the second book before I gave up
