Ara finds herself locked in the prince’s rooms and she wants answers. All of them. But when she doesn’t like what she hears, she storms out and begins another journey. Only this time, she’s got a prince and his lackeys on her tail and none of them know how to take no for an answer.

Temir is done. With the king. With the hatred. With it all. As the newest member of the rebellion, he has to prove himself useful, navigate a devastating loss, and somehow find a way to help Gaea through her own grief. But when King Autus sends him on a dangerous mission, all bets are off.

King Tolero has lived for thousands of years, but the last fifty have been the longest and hardest. Losing your mate, and thus half of your soul, can devour you from within. I feel like my review will never be able to do this book justice. It’s simply a work of art. The author weaves an intricate world including new povs, an adventure, love, spice, heartbreak, and a rebellion without you ever being able to predict what is coming. I was left craving the last installment of this series as well as sitting in silence trying to process the cliffhanger I was just left with! Well done! Again, this would be perfect for readers that enjoy JLA, SJM, and Holly Black!

I must say I liked the first book more and in general reading this series feels a lot like a repeat or maybe a merge of other books of the same genre. I find Ara annoying and her romance with Fen feels too rushed and I just don't get any chemistry between the two. I like Tolero, though, and of course Temir. Off to book 3 and I really hope it will be better.

I Absolutely love this series. I have been so lucky to receive both books as eArc’s by the author.
I recently finished book two and i must say it is even better then book one.
One of the main charachters Ara has many of the same traits as Aelin in ToG.
She is feisty, has good humor and has a destiny she wants to accept on her own terms.
In book two we also get a new POV from one of the royal families. And that was really good. To get to know a different side to the story.
Slowly the threads are woven together in book two and we can see how the different charachters story start to fold together.
We also get to meet a new magical creature.
I both cried and laughed hard in this book😍

Again a wonderful sequel and i highly recommend this series 😍😍

*I received an advanced readers copy for my honest review*

This series has captivated me with every page I turn. The world building and character development gets better and better. The first book left me on a huge cliff hangar and I was hungry for more. And boy did I get it! We finally figure out exactly why fen reacts to ara the way that he does. We learn more about the flame court king and what he has gone through and how he rules his kingdom. His POV were almost my favorite chapters. And temir and gaea find love but then it gets dampened with death. And that ending! Ugh, another cliff hangar! I can’t wait to read more. This series is quickly shaping up to be in my top favorites. Highly recommend.

After DEVOURING Blood and Honor I could not wait to read Chaos & Destiny... and let me tell you - this book DELIVERED.

Oftentimes sophomore books don't live up to the hype of the first book, but that is not the case with C&D. We pick right back up where we left off, AND there's a new POV. The new POV did take a little bit of getting used to for me because I really love Ara and Tem, but this new addition is integral for the story and I found myself fully on-board halfway through this book.

Ara is just as feisty as ever and we get to learn SO MUCH about her destiny. Tem really grows as a character and leader and meets someone important, but NO SPOILERS. Or at least I'm trying not to.

Such a solid second installment to the Fae Rising series and I seriously cannot wait to see where the ending takes me. Because so far, Miranda Lyn has taken me on an amazing fantastical ride and I AM HERE FOR IT.

“Whatever fate befalls you, I’ll be there. Your future is my future. It’s written in the stars, in our blood, in the very core of this world. Nothing about my commitment to you is fleeting, Ara. I would promise you, but I’d rather prove it to you.”

Ok, so I really enjoyed Blood and Honor but this book knocked it out of the park! It exceeded any expectation I had. It was hard to put down and I found myself just wanting to stay in their world. I fell in love with Alewyn all over again. There was character growth and heartache, scheming and plenty of adventure. Don’t forget the swoon! I easily fell in love with the new characters and cannot wait to read more of them in book 3. Seriously, this is a must-read!

This book swallowed me whole. It's probably the fastest I've ever read a sequel.

Epic, whirlwind, gut-wrenching, entertaining-are but a few words to describe it.

We have a new character's perspective in this book - King Tolero. I didn't expect to love him so much! I don't want to include spoilers so I'll only say the author portrays mourning and heartbreak so beautifully. He's what you want in a Fae King (I'm looking at you, Autus).

Ara is back with more of her sass and bad attitude - loved every minute of it!

Temir - oh Tem! He transformed into an alpha male badass and it was delicious!

My head was spinning after I finished. Cue book hangover! Totally worth it.

Thank you so very much to @authormirandalyn and @literaryboundtours for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Chaos & Destiny (Fae Rising Book 2) just solidified this series as one of my top fave Fae series of all time. Seriously SO GOOD y’all. Miranda Lynhas rapidly become one of my top fave indie authors and I’m SO READY for more of my literary faeries to fall in love with the world of Alewyn, Ara, Tem, Gaea, Fen, and so many other epic characters!

In this second installment, we rejoin Ara and Temir’s alternating POV chapters now joined with King Tolero and a few from the mysterious and beautiful Nadra. These multiple perspectives provided for a completely addictive and compelling overall pacing for the plot to the point where I found myself utterly devouring the book in virtually one sitting!

The Fae Rising series has proven to be a rich NA fantasy epic of passionate rebels fighting against evil injustices, magic wielders coming into their unfathomable powers, and intense but healing bonds between tortured and broken souls and their mates. The absolute BEST part about this book was witnessing Lyn’s genius intertwining of two polar opposite romance tropes; somehow this story wove together friends-to-lovers AND enemies-to-lovers/forbidden romance elements all into a few tumultuous love stories and I could not tear myself away from these pages for the life of me!

This picks up right where we left off in Blood & Honor and it was a rollercoaster.

We still have Ara and Temir’s POVs but we also get the added POV of King Tolero! Ara goes on a journey in this book, not that she didn’t before but it’s even more of a rollercoaster ride and she gets a fun cast of characters to journey with! We get Princey Poo (Prince Fenlas) and let me tell you, the interactions between Ara and Fen are some of my favorite. Temir has decided enough is enough and is doing what he can for the lesser Fae! Temir’s development is so wonderful in this book! King Tolero is a wonderful addition and I love learning about him and the southerners!

The drama, action and comedy in this book was amazing and I could not put it down! This series is amazing, it has become my favorite series and I highly recommend it to all of my Fae lovers out there!

I loved Blood and Honor, but Chaos and Destiny was definitely my favorite of the two! The romance is a lot more prominent in this book than it is in B&H. And lord—*fans self*—is it steamy! You’ll want to keep yourself hydrated for this one if you know what I mean. ;)

I was also pleasantly surprised to see there’s a third character’s POV in this book. I think you guys will enjoy said character as much as I did! It was fun seeing all the characters’ storylines line up in this. Do they all eventually meet? You’ll just have to read to find out!

Thank you Miranda for gifting me an ARC of this story after I devoured B&H. I’m so excited to see how it all comes to together in book 3!

What a sequel ... I wasn't prepared to love the new POV as much as I did, but I did. Ara and Tem are back and the PRESSURE IS ON! The stakes are HIGH and the danger is REAL.
There is so much to rave about in this book but I don't want to give any spoilers...
Fast paced.
Riveting.
Swoonworthy.
Hilarious.

I struggled to finish this book. I liked Ara in the first one, but she was a bit annoying in this series. I'm not sure how I feel about the "romance"- it felt forced and not a natural development between the characters. There was no tension or building of a relationship. Ara was just angry the entire time. I really liked Temir's character development and story. I'll continue the series for his story. Plot wise, it was lacking and I was frustrated with how characters would literally just pop out of thin air and appear to move the story along.

One thing about Miranda Lyn... I'm always going to love the character interactions she writes. The banter, flirting, and found family goes hard through all of her books.

The adventuring in this one was fun, too. What I'm really loving about this series are the unexpected perspectives it's written in. We get to see different sides of the state of the world... people with varying levels of "power" doing what they can to change it (and not just following one group the entire time).

Second books are generally not my favorite however I LOVED this one! I didn’t want to put it down! The plot is thickening! Miranda’s signature holds back no punches and plot twists are seen throughout this book- be prepared 💔

What you can expect:

I’m in love with Temir

Been anticipating this book since the first one Blood and Promise was released and it’s cliffhanger left me broken!
Chaos and Destiny didn’t disappoint! The book opens with King Tolero of the Flame Court and he finds that while he’s been grieving his mate, his kingdom is on the brink of collapse. Sea Court has been infiltrating and stirring the prejudice pot between high and lesser fae. Meanwhile, Ara has been captured by the Prince of Flame Court, while trying to research her prophecy. She can’t explain her attraction to Prince Fenlas but uses it to fuel her anger and escape.
Then we have our Temir. He’s a lesser fae with all the privileges of high fae because he has been collected by the King of the Wind Court Autus for his healing magic. Temir has had his eyes opened to the lesser fae rebellion and joined them while heartedly after his mentor dies and his girlfriend ends their relationship because of the mentors death. Here we pick up on Temir trying to make his own little world a better place by taking a lesser fae child under his wing, spying for the rebellion, and doing whatever he can to thwart Autus while staying alive.

In my opinion the writing seems rushed, hence the 4 stars. I think there could just be a sentence or two more explanation to characters thoughts and feeling to give the reader a better sense of their emotional journey. But I love the snarky Don’t-Have-Time-For-Your-Nonsense Ara. Everything she thinks basically has me the reader smirking. And Temir! He’s just such a hot, brooding, sensitive heartbreaker! Great book! Can’t wait for the 3rd installment next month!

EDIT : 3 stars down to 1.5 stars. I'm really pissed now.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE
Its difficult to become attached on the two main characters in book #1 as they have a totally different story though interconnected. And yet this book added more (though better than Termir and Ara's accomplishments).

Then while I can accept Ara's bit of arrogance in book #1, she transformed into a more arrogant bratty selfish teenager in book #2. The last chapter did it for me. She would meet an ancient very powerful fae in unknown mysterious place, sat down on a chair and placed her feet on the table!!!! Really?? And while she was told to behave, she still answers back with annoyance. She was brought up well-mannered so I cannot understand the author's mind on this particular scene. Last Chapter, and I couldn't finish because of her. No remorse no respect no self-preservation and thinks she's invincible just because she's the chosen one. Without the other powerful faes help, she would have had perished long time ago

For the bantering part, oh so cringy.

WHAT I LIKE:
Temir's new found courage and the new character's story made reading Ara's journey more bearable.

Not sure if I'm reading book 3 anymore though I can see on reviews that it has more substance than the first two books.
Oh when can I meet another Jude and Cardan type. Confident but not arrogant.

This is book 2 in The Fae Rising Series....

Author Miranda Lyn Continues to amaze me. She has built this world that I am absolutely enthralled with and the Characters are a continued delight. Not only are the main Characters wonderful, but she places as much emphasis on the side characters and makes you fall in love with them as well. I am so invested in this series and this is all due to the magical writing and storytelling of the author.

This story continues where book 1 , Blood and Promise left off. I also love that Miranda places a recap of the previous book at the beginning of the sequel. Not that I needed it. I tore right into book 2 and finished it in 2 sessions! This story continues following Ara and Temir on their journeys but in this book you also meet King Tolero of the Flame Court. His journey is full of heartbreak and determination and I fell in love with him. There is still adventure, chaos and magical creatures along the way as well as some witty banter among the characters. I am so excited to read the thrilling conclusion to this story in Fate and Flame. Congratulation Miranda, you again hit it out of the park! I will forever be a fan and continue to sing your praises.

This book gets another 5 well deserved stars

3.5 ⭐

I slogged through this one a little bit slower than the last. I think I've come to find that I'm just not built for heavy fantasy with low romance. It is a good series, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last. I enjoyed the addition of King Tolero's POV to add a facet to this conflict. But this book just didn't hit for me.

✅ Temir's character development gets top marks. His entire piece of the story is probably my favorite.
✅ Nadra twist and POV was intriguing.
✅ New characters are fun: River is a cutie pie. Rhogan was cool (glad he's not dead yet!). King Tolero is complex.

❌ We've thrown Ara in with Fenlas and co but the relationship building was weak.
❌ Casual misogyny is noted and not appreciated.
❌ Like what was that weak ass capture of Morwena? That was a bit of a letdown.
❌ Ara throwing a hissy when Fenlas admits that he's known that they were mates all along. Like come on, you knew this too Ara. Why are we getting pissy?
❌ When Temir and Ara finally meet I thought that there would be more to it. These two are the main voices of this story working for the same cause from opposite sides. And it was so lackluster and disappointing. It was barely a couple of pages long. Like what was that?

The story forward’s from the first book and true to the name it has alot of chaos, and destiny gets defined as the answers to the questions are revealed. I don’t think I have read a book with cliffhangers after every chapter, it was super amazing reading that. I highly appreciate the flawless writing. The first book was all about the base for a story to move ahead, the second book is all about the middle of the story where everyone is learning about themselves and reacting to the revelations made for a greater world. The second book is written with the POV of Ara, Temir along with King Tolero, and a few snippets of mysterious Nadra is also there.
Ara is as confident as she was in the first book, having new company in a dangerous journey to know the second part of the prophecy is so much fun. Alweyn’s promise goes to her defined path with her Gaurdian.
Temir learns his path and focuses on it. His character development is mind blowing. Fate is a mystery and all the roads taken lead to it. The writing is compelling, it’s hard to tear yourself from it. Now I’m eager to know what lays next after entire prophecy is known. War is coming.

Okay after the first book I wasn’t completely hooked. Definitely intrigued tho. Now after finishing the second book I have to say I’m obsessed with the characters.

This series not only has a great plot and world but a also large group of AMAZING characters.

If you don’t want spoilers then don’t continue reading.

I have to say I was heartbroken when they gave up River. Found family is one of my fav tropes and I adored their little family unit. I was absolutely sobbing when they had to say goodbye.

I’m sad Temir and Gaea didn’t work out. I didn’t really feel their chemistry in the first book but really started to love them this book only for it to be ripped away. Her goodbye letter completely ripped out my heart.

As of now I’m not really a fan of Temir and Nadra and I have to admit this is giving very much SJM switching up love interests.

Moving on to Ara and Fen! Their chemistry is simply unmatched. And I gasped at the end of the book!

Last but not least Kai is a king! I can’t wait to read more of his shenanigans in the next book.

I hope they all eventually unite and become one big group.

Another 3 stars from me for this series. I think I’ve realized that this book just doesn’t give me the feels like others do. Is it a bad book, definitely not just not what I had envisioned and wanted to happen. I’m still very curious how it will end since the writing and plot are solid.

Pros:
-we get more info on what Temir and Ara are going through and I liked the growth for both. Don’t get me wrong Ara still has some cons
-as much as I didn’t like the addition of a 3rd POV king Tolero’s story is important for the plot.
-the writing itself is solid, the plot is fun to follow
-the villains are good villains especially Autus
-Fenlas’ friend group is top notch, Kai made some great jokes

Cons:
-I’m really not a fan of all these POV’s. I’m not sure why, I like it in other books but it doesn’t match with me for this series. I think it’s because time jumps around a lot in this series so we really don’t get to know our MCs as well as I like
-no spice so if you want that, don’t look here 🥲
-Ara was annoying sometimes that it was too much but she had growth at that end
-I wish there had been more tension between Ara and Fenlas. I didn’t feel any chemistry

This series is definitely fantasy based if that’s what you want👍🏼

“But in this unfair world, with broken promises and unanswered prayers, we lived and they didn’t, and that was the most unjust thing I could imagine.”

This book is a gem ― a must read. And I can't even believe that the world has yet to discover how beautiful this is. It was totally something I never expected. The pacing is just quite right, the world building was spectacular and the different perspectives was intricately woven like a tapestry, as everything was starting to make some sense. It was able to build the tension and maintain it and gosh, the transitions was just strategical and I can't help but get to the next chapter.

Maybe the reason I'm enjoying this so much was that I see in each of their lives amidst the despair and brokenness of the world. And I think you would come to grow and love the characters as easily as I did. I need more of this and I can't wait to see how the story would unravel in the latter books. I'm diving to Book 3 right now.

(I haven't been able to read a good fantasy in a while and Miranda Lyn brought me back from craving it all over again. Yet again, another favorite author found.)

Chaos and Destiny overall has grown from Blood and Promise in both writing and development. For me, it stays firmly in the 3 star rating, but it is better writing. I think one of the differences between good writing and great writing is visualization. If the reader can visualize where characters are and not just their written actions, that’s great writing. So right off the bat the biggest drawbacks in Chaos and Destiny are that scenes and actions aren’t fully built, which often left me confused about character positions.

This particular story revolves more around Ara’s and Fen’s fates, and I think with fated plots it’s difficult to describe a clear and concise fate and then build a story around it. In this story, the plot seems to run because the author knows what will happen, but the characters don’t find things themselves.

Chaos and Destiny also gets some sexy time, which is always fun! But I had a really hard time believing Ara’s first reaction to pleasure would be to try to escape from it. There’s a foreplay scene that just doesn’t make sense to me with how Ara reacts!

I absolutely loved character development in the 2nd book, it was much faster paced than the Blood and Promise and I was absolutely there for it. It did feel a bit like every second chapter ended in a cliffhanger and I actually skipped two POVs to read what happened next before going back to continue reading where chapter ended. Nonetheless, all 3 POVs were equaly interesting and intense, I loved the characters and their growth. Even though, Ara reminded me of Aelin so much.

However, there is a good rule of thumb that female protagonist is bound to be extremely angry at the mating bond revelation even though it is clear as day for everyone else. This is what annoys me every time, I knew they were mates from their first encounter on the balcony in the first book, and it was so much more obvious every time they described their feelings.

Despite the above, this book was an very entertaining read and a total fae fix I didn't know I needed.
