Midnight Men: The Supernatural Adventures of Earl and Dale

Rate this book
Midnight. The Witching Hour. But the creatures of darkness are not confined to the shadows of the night. Lonely stretches of highways…Bustling college campuses…Quiet suburban neighborhoods…Pricey, upscale day spas...They're everywhere. Earl and Dale, a pair of burly truckers, seem to be drawn to those that dwell in the darkness. Monster hunters by default, they confront the evil fearlessly—and with just a bit of humor. Vampires, werewolves, half-human spider demons, and those that prey on the innocent… All will realize they've met their match when they go head to head with… The Midnight Men

Yeehaw! Grab a six-pack, some greasy sliders, your favorite John Deere cap, and maybe a few stakes (not the eatin' kind), and truck on over to read Anderson's Midnight Men: The Supernatural Adventures of Earl and Dale! It's a rootin-tootin' good time with two hefty, redneck truck drivers fighting the supernatural forces of evil. Think Sam and Dean gone to root. The tales in this collection are well-written, lots of fun, action-packed, and at times, laugh-out-loud, spew your beer all over your Kindle funny. While never really scary, Anderson doesn't skimp on the monsters. A perfect book for Halloween reading. Comic horror is a tough genre, often tipping into the unwelcome territory of spoofery. Anderson straddles the fence beautifully. Very recommended.

A genuinely hilarious collection of horror stories. Earl and Dale are a fun monster-hunting duo. I loved traveling the dark American highway with these two friends. LOVED their dialogue!

Anderson delivers truly unique takes on vampires, werewolves, and zombies. All while delivering interesting commentary on the ills of modern society.

The collection's second tale, NIGHT OF THE SPIDER, is my personal favorite. A story that caught me in its twisted web!

An excellent read!

Fun, fantastic, and full of laughs

I went into this book not expecting much, but found to be an enjoyable and gripping read from start to finish. I can only hope a sequel comes out soon!

Dale and Earl are larger than life guys, driving truck for a living, who just happen to get drawn in to supernatural situations. There is lots of weird energy on the blacktop of americas highways at night. They know there are strange things out there and they are prepared. When help is needed they go at it with the sense of duty and the sense of humor that only fun loving rednecks with a conscience can do. Don’t underestimate them, while Dale and Earl seem to focus on getting to their next meal at the local chew and choke, these two are smart and deadly in all manner of things.
Crap on a cracker this was a good time. Lighthearted and fun one minute and creeped out and quivering the next.
“Dale stood back up, watching a spider the size of his hand crawl out from the shriveled body’s throat.”
Yup, I saw you quiver.
Midnight Men is four short stories and a novella of facing spiders, werewolves, senators, hospital management and other types of scum. Dale and Earl handle what comes at them with the nonchalance of a buddy film crossed with Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead.

A fun ride. Two good ol' boys with a talent for monster hunting, Earl and Dale is what would happen if you took Supernatural and removed all the angst. Sometimes crude, but never pretentious, it was just what I needed from a book about Vampire-Slaying Truckers. I hope the author makes a sequel.

Loved this! A fun collection of stories that made me smile and chuckle to myself throughout. The characters are hilarious and loveable, and the scenes are vivid with just the right amount of gore, monsters, and spookiness.

I am such a sucker for hokey buddy fighters of demon spawn. More to the point, the horror aspects are secondary to the guys riffing on each other. I first found Dale and Earl on the Horror Hill podcast and then looked up this book. Definitely worthwhile.

This is a real beach cheeseburger of a short story collection. If serial horror comedy with fat truckers sounds up your alley, this'll hit the spot.

I might have done just three stars, but having originally heard some of these as audiodramas on a podcast, it kinda does deserve five.

Heard some of the short stories on "Horror Hill" by Jason Hill (one read by Erik Peabody)
Hilarious & suspenseful, great storyline of Dale & Earl. The most relatable & lovable heroes. Their complimentary friendship is tangible, so realistic. Immediately fell in love with them.
Hope there will be many sequels! I'll be buying every one!

I really want to read more of Earl and Dale. Please write a follow up. I enjoyed this book and the humor, too. It reminds me of Andrew Mayhem books by Jeff Strand. None of the other titles by this author appeal to me, so I will wait and follow him to see what his new offerings are. Thanks for a fun, scary read.
