Goodbye Quarks: The Onium Theory

Rate this book
The scientific method requires that all theories be retested from time-to-time. This book sets out to test the idea that all known particles can be explained as resonant states of only electrons, protons, and their antiparticles. Electron and proton properties are examined using quantum field theory and are found to be structurally identical. Then an onium model of resonances can be used to explain all other experimentally known particles. This includes explanations for decay products and masses which are not explained by quark theory. Based on the success of the onium theory it is concluded that quarks are unnecessary. Ray Fleming is a quantum field theorist who previously authored The Zero-Point Universe and The 100 Greatest Lies in physics.
