Welcome to Creepy, Louisiana, Population 1. Sissy outlasted the Zombiepidemic, but when other survivors arrive, she finds herself with another dilemma, too many men to choose from. Sounds like a good problem to have if across the county line, her ex hadn't become the king of a gang of savages called the Stayers. Dillon is hell bent on making her his. Can her new suitors help save her from an old one or can she really have them all?
USA Today Bestselling Author Morgan Jane Mitchell spent years blogging politics and health trends before she rediscovered her love of writing fiction.
Trading politicians for bloodsuckers of another kind, she's now the author of bestselling post-apocalyptic fantasy novel, Sanguis City. Her action packed series of vampires, witches, demons and zombies is paranormal romance, dystopia, urban fantasy and erotica in one bite.
When Morgan Jane is not creating the city of blood or conjuring up other supernatural tales, she's dreaming up erotic and dark romances like her bestselling motorcycle club series, Asphalt Gods MC.
Despite her ever changing hair and her love of adventure, fine food and art, she spends most of her time enjoying the simple life with her free range chickens and ducks, 3 sons and the love of her life who happens to be the best assistant ever.
This book grabbed my attention right from the start and held it until the end. The pace of the story flowed nicely. I found the characters interesting and wanted to know more about them. I loved the main character-she was badass hero. Looking forward for the next book in series
Ya'll need to know who Miss Mary is! There were many different aspects of this book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sissy lives in Creepy and is the only resident. She has a routine for scavenging, stock piling, and keeping safe. Her ex has assured her that no one will mess with her but he has to give him some ‘Miss Mary’ in return. They have quite a past and the way he changed really has her messed up inside because she doesn’t understand it. She keeps him sated so he will keep his thugs away from her. Then one day, a new neighbor comes to town. But this neighbor is hawt! Then another! All of a sudden, it’s a party, LOL! There is a lot of tension and angst that is built up throughout the book with a good storyline. It really makes you think about what you would do if you were in the same situation and how you would handle it. I imagine that I would be a lot like Sissy. She is a great female lead for this story. The push and pull between her and her men is delicate but just blooming too. There is a lot more to develop on this level and I imagine it will explode. Now, I generally use books as my escape so I must say that the only thing I didn’t care for is that the handling of the Zombie pandemic was very similar to the handling of the Covid pandemic, and I am sort of over it. Other than that point (and it was not dwelled on long) the story was great and has me looking forward to the next in the series.
Sissy is a young woman, who survived a virus that turns all people who die into zombies. All people older than 40 who get the virus die, only a percentage of the younger people manage to survive, leaving behind a young population who needs to fend for themselves. After Sissy survived, she decided to stay behind in the tiny village Creepy and look after herself.
I liked the fact that Sissy decided to stay self sufficient and not join a commune nearby. Sissy has all the characteristics to be an awesome female character: she is brave, goes after the things she wants, she doesn't give up, she cares for other people, ... Still, for some reason, I didn't seem to find a click with her. It might simply be because I had a hard time understanding some of her choices or how she felt about those choices. I also prefer action in post-apocalyptic books, not meaning the action that happens between the sheets, on a chair, against the wall of a lingerie shop, ... Since the second kind of action overruled the first, it wasn't really my kind of book, but I'm sure other would agree to disagree with me.
For me this book lands somewhere between three and four stars, but I'm pretty sure that is mainly because I expected something with more zombie-action.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DNF at 17% with a shit-dick rape scene (no barrier anal rape and then vaginal rape). You can't even argue that the anal rape was even remotely consensual, although the author really tries to argue that the vaginal rape was mostly playacting at being nonconsensual and was just rough. I was enjoying the story until we got to this scene with the rapist that the author is really pushing to be a potential "relationship."
Kelsey made me read it. And that is all you need to know...
BUT I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to put it down. I don't usually read zombie post-apocalyptic stories, but I really enjoyed this one. I did enjoy that show Daybreak that was on Netflix, and it kind of reminded me of that, but older characters.
I cannot wait to see where this story goes, hopefully we will get another book about Creepy soon-ish!!
It’s a bit creepy how similar the circumstances of this story are to the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stockpiling, mass death, barricading... the difference in this story is zombies. It’s tension filled, with more of a life-for-today mentality than an actual love story. Ends on a cliffhanger, making me hunger for the next book in this series... and braaaaaains...!
I really enjoyed this book. It was something different to all the other books I've read recently. So it's crazy ride of zombies and hot men and many many twists. To end the book on a cliffhanger ending hoping things work out after everything. With strong characters and a back story that grows as you read, you are sure to enjoy
This book grabbed my interest and kept my interest till the end. It moved along at a pace which was great for the flow of the story. The characters were interesting and you wanted to know more about them, and see then achieve what they set out to do. This book is a fun read that needs to be on your list of books to be read.
This book had me hooked from the first line- Morgan always manages to pull me straight into her world and hold my attention until the very last word. I loved everything about this. It has all the things and ticked all my boxes, mystery, action, suspense, zombies, hot alphas, and a good storyline that I can't wait to read more of
This is a really strong start and introduction to the the Zombiepidemic series and world. This is the start of Sissy's story as she navigates not being the only survivor in creepy. It is well written with spice, intrigue, and so much more. I love the tension between Sissy and her new potential guys. This has a entertaining storyline and I'm excited to read the next book.
This was good! I’m quite enjoying this story and the main character creepy (aka innocent/sissy). Super excited for the second one because the “why choose” was just getting set up in this one. I really don’t like her ex-fiancé and am wondering if he’s always going to be the bad guy? We shall see with the next one!
I have no idea why I’m giving this four stars honestly.
I get sucked into reading it and didn’t want to stop. Miss Mary deserves her own character tag at this point. She’s a very busy lady. Hope she adds more visitors.
Reverse harem? No. Romance? No. Disturbing cliff hanger , unsatisfying ending? Yes. Ugh, I'm not sure I'd read the next one if it's out, maybe. If it's not out, I'll forget about it before it is.
Very dry, feels like walking dead fanfiction with a semi decent plot but the relationships are all over the place and the storyline is messy and scattered and confusing being both rushed and agonizingly slow at the same time. Not for me for sure and I had high hopes.
Fasted paced and exciting. Not a dull moment to be had. What would you do if your family and friends turned into zombies. Could you “kill” them before they got you?
This is the first story in the " Zombiepidemic" series. This is a zombie post-apocalyptic read that is fairly short read. It is nicely paced with some steaminess and a dreaded cliffhanger. The story is about Sissy and some sexy, hot men. The story is good with some action and good twists.
What an interested this was, I loved seeing how Sissy was surviving alone and all the chaos that happened later on. I cant wait for the next installment
Cute and as zombie dystopian why choose. It was short and gave walking dead romance vibes. I did think it was a standalone so I'll have go go into the next
