Rate this book
Each of the Bestselling Light Series novels together in one place! Five fast-paced, clean Christian novels that follow Bria Ford through a world she never expected—a modern world plunged into darkness! The Light A blinding flash … then darkness. Bria Ford and her three closest friends are stranded on a country highway in the middle of a November night. No phones. No cars. No lights. The world has been plunged into darkness. Helpless and hundreds of miles from home, Bria and her friends put their lives in the hands of handsome Jonah Page and his flinty sister, East, strangers who somehow know the secrets of Bria’s past. Secrets that not even she knows, but that offer them all the hope of survival. Through the Ashes Before the light, the truth could be slippery. You could work around it, dodge it, run away from it. But in Bria Ford’s new life, the truth is always knocking … about the past, the fate of friends and family, the realities of burgeoning love, and the changed world. For Bria there’s no escaping the truth—no matter how much she may want to. In this unflinching sequel to Jacqueline Brown’s The Light, Bria and her friends stride into the heart of the post-disaster world and face test after test of their character and convictions. Bria must choose her path in this wounded world. Freedom or comfort? Give up or run? Who has she become since the world fell away? From the Shadows Can cruelty be disguised as courage? Does safety lie in savagery? What happens when the hopes of our hearts are forced to face the truth of our actions? In From the Shadows, Book Three of The Light Series, Bria and those she loves have escaped the dangers of DC, and discover a town where compassion survives and love blooms. When their comfort comes to an end, each member of the group must decide their path. Some stay behind... Some journey on. All learn that even the most hoped-for moments can be devastated by unimaginable sorrows. Into the Embers Safety, happiness, forgiveness, and love finally surround Bria as family bonds strengthen and friendships deepen. The love that was once only a dream becomes a reality and it’s better than she ever imagined. Hers is a fairy tale come true, until the absence of those they left behind threatens the peace she desperately longs to maintain. East’s life is nothing like Bria’s… for better or worse it never has been. Hers is a nightmare of deceit and death. Trust is questioned as alliances are made. The truth she has been seeking is found but at a cost she never meant to pay. Through it all, hope remains as the love of a father offers her a path out of the darkness. Out of the Darkness The honeymoon is over. Real life must begin and it is here, in Bria and Jonah’s married life, that Bria discovers the strength her friends always knew she had. Along with some of their friends, Bria and Jonah leave their home and family in North Carolina, and travel toward DC in hopes of finding East and bringing her home. Meanwhile, East longs for home, peace, and safety as she perseveres in her mission to save the country. Haz remains by her side and his devotion challenges her to acknowledge the wounds of the past and the fears of the present. In this truth, healing for both begins. A nation is saved. 4 Stars!!

I dont know about you, but I love a good dystopian/ post apocalyptic story line. I live for them really... I know I am weird

But its just something about watching people pull together and form a community and learn how to survive that just does something for me. Its so awesome to see different types of people, from all walks of life come together in a crisis and somehow pull through it together.

Bria Ford and her three closest friends are stranded on a country highway in the middle of the night. No phones. No car. No lights. Helpless and hundreds of miles from home, they put their lives in the hands of Jonah Page and his sister, East, strangers who somehow know Bria better than she knows herself. As the group bonds to adapt to a new, yet old, way of life, the secrets of Bria’s past provide them with the means to survive the extremes of Nature, and the even more extremes of human nature. The Light explores how the stories we tell ourselves shape the person we present to the world, and what happens to that person when the world falls away.

I really enjoyed these books. They were like book crack. I didnt want to stop reading them. It was like while reading, It felt predictable but just when you start to think that,

PLOT TWIST. Who doesn't love a good plot twist.

I only had a few issues with the series as a whole, while I love a good Christian fiction, I didnt like the specific religious aspect. The whole catholic thing would have went so much better if it just was about faith in general without all the undertones, but I can respect it. Other than that, thought they were great and definitely had me turning the pages.

Alright the plot of this series was kind of insane but I loved it. Shoutout Jacqueline Brown for keeping me entertained (except in books 3&4) and getting me hooked on reading again.

I’ll never view roadtrips the same and I audibly gasped at the ending of book 5 🫨🫨

It was wonderful :-)

This author is amazing, the books couldn't of been better. I am so happy to have found books that are so well rounded. I laughed and I cried getting to know all the characters ,and falling in love with so many of them. This was a great story one ill revisit over the years to come. Believe it or not this author can actually explain ,and make sense of a deep and emotional connection with two people falling in love without any porn! How refreshing! Being a Christian and finding entertainment that's not filled with filth is refreshing. Oh I know people try to make movies and write books for people who like me want quality entertainment, without felling violated. Well that's what Ms Brown has done and done it extremely well. I'm obviously no writer and, am having a hard time expressing my feelings about these books, just read them you won't be sorry.

The box set is a good way to get it all.

I read the first four books separately. That was before I discovered the Box Set. I liked the continuing characters and learning how they each developed as individuals.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ but not a Catholic. It was interesting to read more about their practices of faith. I think it's more important to focus on those things that we believe in common than those that separate us. It seems like focusing on differences is what is dividing this nation today as much as the sudden EMP did in this novel.
Much of what I read seems like a very distinct possibility today. It is almost reasonable to imagine it happening. Our political environment is currently headed in a very frightening direction.

I'm speechless! There are no words to describe how this story made me feel other than Everything! I've been an avid reader for years and have read many moving stories but this one had me wishing it would never end! I'm really going to miss it's character's I actually bonded with them All. But I Love that it has everything drama Love action suspense and spiritually uplifting All at the same time! Thank you for writing a great novel without the bad language and immorality that just isn't necessary for a great story!

This this is one of my most favorite genres. This series was well written, in every way. I enjoyed the series being centered on Catholicism. This series and others like it are a stark reminder of our political climate and that is frightening. I can actually see something like this happen to the USA.
WHILE all the corrupt politicians have created these distractions to divide us, behind the scenes they are taking the USA in a direction we may never recover from.

Brillant!

Such a terrifying yet refreshing account of goodness and evil, of light and dark and the love of Jesus in the face of both. It really was an escape and the way back was filled with truth and healing. It shows depravity, as welll as purity and the journey to the Savior who makes all things new giving us salvation and the gift of eternal life.
Thank you for such a beautiful read!

Great story that. Makes you think

Enjoyed these five books and found myself reading longer a a time than I had intended to. I wanted to know where the story was going. Some of the twist and turn were predictable but others were not. Good read.

Amazing series, keeps you guessing and wanting to read faster. But if you read faster you reach the end sooner. So many parallels to today’s world and our leaders, but lots of hope for what could be. I highly recommend this series, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing!!

This was such a great series I couldn’t stop reading. It really brings about hope that there is still a lot of good in people and all over the world despite the hate and judgement that occurs today. Maybe someday the world can rebuild.

This was a fascinating apocalypse type of series that I did not want to end. A surprise to me was that it is from a Catholic point of view—it seems these types of books are often Protestant. I happen to be Protestant, and I think that this series points out that faith is faith.

I would recommend this series to anyone aged mid teens or older. I only say that due to some of the battles. Once I began reading, I couldn't put it down! I will read more by this author.

I loved this set of books. The characters were believable, so was the story. What would happen if the world as we know it came to an end??

A Must Read

This is a series everyone should read! I loved it! At first I wasn't sure if I was going to read it. I mean, almost a thousand pages! But they flew by!

The story starts with four college friends on their way to Florida for Thanksgiving. They're driving along and all of a sudden the car stops working. Soon they discover theirs phones are not working either. It's the middle of the night and they are in the middle of nowhere. Lucky for them, a brother and sister come out of the dark and, as a group they start walking to the siblings home in North Carolina.

That is the beginning of this incredible story of these six young people, their families, and their friends. I laughed at some of their silly antics. I ached along with them as they walked. And I cried along with them for the people they lost in this powerless and lawless country.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading end of the world fiction. It is fiction but it is something that could really happen in our time. Also, if you like a good story of people surviving, learning, falling in love, trying to save the world, this is the book for you. I couldn't put it down. I stayed up late trying to get one more chapter in. I started reading as soon as my coffee was ready in the morning and read right through lunchtime without stopping.

Do yourself a favor and get the box set of the five books in this series and read it as if it were one book. Just make sure you have plenty of free time because you won't want to stop.
