A deadly mission in the heart of Cambodia! Perfect for fans of Andrew Watts, L. T. Ryan, Don Keith and George Wallace.
An American general and a reporter are trapped when Special Forces Camp A-555 falls to the enemy…
Vietnam, 1965
When a top-secret flight is reported crashed in Cambodia, Captain Mack Gerber, commander of U.S. Army Special Forces Camp A-555, is ordered to find and bring back the crew and passenger – dead or alive.
But on his return from the mission, he discovers his camp, Triple Nickel, has been captured by the Viet Cong, and a U.S. Army general and a reporter are now prisoners.
Now he and his men must recapture the Triple Nickel at any cost.
Because Gerber knows its loss will mean that the enemy is one step closer to victory.
THE FALL OF CAMP A-555 is the fourth book in the Ground Zero action-packed, authentic historical thrillers following an American Special Forces Squad as they fight to survive during the brutal Vietnam War.

This book feels like an ending and a new beginning for the Green Berets of V:GZ. Camp A-555 is overrun by VC aided by turncoats among the South Vietnamese troops the Americans work with. Most of the team is out in the field looking for a downed plane that could hold General Westmoreland, and the traitors inside the camp make the most of it by launching a takeover.
The stakes are high in this one, as even reporter Robin Morrow suffers at the hands of the Vietcong, and the camp is easily over run. One intrepid American Lt manages to escape and warn the incoming team about the takeover, which leads to a dual assault on the camp by helicopters and an airborne division in a brutal final battle.
There’s also an interesting side story with the CIA and a fake General Westmoreland which I assume may be based on something that actually occurred, since the author was a Vietnam vet and may have heard about it.
No holds barred in this fantastic read, another gritty and fast tale that has a low page count yet an epic story contained within.
A great read, really enjoy these. Along with the Scorpion Squad series this is the 8th one and all have been good. This time the camp is ordered to be basically stripped of most of its force to find a crashed plane that had a VIP aboard. While only one American is in camp, A group of highly place South Vietnamese show their true colors as Vietcong and with a large outside force take over the camp. However the men who are out are warned in time and they are able to make plans and get more resources to fight back and try to take back the camp.
Highly recommended, full of action throughout, an interesting subplot, and the great characters that if you been keeping up the last 7 books before you know well.
You already get the gist of what happens in this one because of the title. Another great read in the series, for me though I wouldn't have had what happens to Morrow happen, that kind of stuff did go on during the war but I think it kind of killed her characters resistance and if you think it happened in real life would kill the dynamic between her and Gerber. Taking that aside still a great novel.

Onward and upward thru the fog rode the mighty. The American soldier , get er done, make it happen. Fight the battles that need fighting. American fighters just doesn't give, except for maybe the ones who went to Canada to evade the draft.
The weakest of the first four Eric Helm novels. The plot appears to be contrived and situations sign posted from word one. It's a shame as I have like re-reading Helm's old novels and I know there are better books in the bank.
