Can Jane survive alone on an alien planet? And is she really alone?

Jane has no interest in the great outdoors. She prefers her comfortable bed, her books, and all the conveniences of modern life. So when she wakes up alone and naked in what appears to be an alien jungle, her only goal is to find her way home.

The question of whether or not she’s alone is answered when a massive stranger comes to her rescue. Her savior is big and growly and he doesn’t speak her language - but the heat in his eyes doesn’t need translation...

Commander Taraxan’s people may have mastered advanced technology, but they have never forgotten their primitive roots. So when he wakes up naked and weaponless on an unknown planet, he is annoyed but not alarmed.

As he searches for a way to return to his civilization, he discovers a strange, pale female blundering around the jungle. Oblivious to the hazards surrounding her, she is clumsy, helpless… and completely adorable. As an honorable warrior, he has no choice but to protect her - but he doesn't expect the task to be so rewarding...

Can two complete opposites survive the jungle - and their sizzling attraction to one another? And what possible future awaits a human woman and an alien commander who are both determined to return to their own worlds?

Each book in the Exposed to the Elements series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy romance is intended for mature audiences only.

This read was a test for me: has my taste in SFR changed so much that it's time to move on and drop some authors?

Sadly, yes, this is the case.

Because I'm really over reading the same story with the same Generic Marshmallow Alpha Alien lead with the same Generic Inept "heroine" who never does anything to make things happen in her story. I'm sick of the same premise and lead up. I'm sick of the same tropes without any cheekiness or attempts to subvert them. Just. I'm over it, no matter how popular it is. I had a good 600+ book run with these, but when reading dozens just to find the one that delights me becomes the norm, well, that's definitely A Message. So I'm listening and becoming more selective in my future reads.

Obviously, this story was a dud for me. Between a male lead who I couldn't tell you anything about besides "protective and besotted for god only knows what reasons with the female lead," and the female lead who expected to be taken care of the entire time and couldn't put 2 and 2 together on her own—for such a short story, she was super slow on all of the uptakes, like...girl—it was a slog to make it through such a short book.

The final third did pick up the pace and finally get a little exciting, but it resolved very easily and too quickly.

And that was an issue with this story—everything happened really easily and neither character thought to question it. Even when it didn't make sense in the context of what they thought was happening.

So. If you like the majority of SFR, you'll probably like this. But it's not for me anymore.

Though I will continue on my mission to find novel and interesting offerings in the genre.

Super sweet syfy, Tarzan and Jane remake sorta but with Tarax and Jane!! I loved both of these characters and I love the trope where there is a language barrier and they have to figure things out together. Honey Phillips writes the best, sweet SR stories and this seems like it's gonna be another hit series!! I can't wait to read the next one and find out who these mysterious scientists are.

Apparently I'm just in my alien romance Era because I'm eating these all up and enjoying them 😂

Stress free, super cute romances
Size differences
Communication barriers

All the good things.

The way all these alien men are down bad for their human females is just 🤌

3.5 stars - This was a cut above a lot of the sci-fi romance I've been trying recently, so I will definitely look forward to continuing in the series

Another book in the overdone literary plotline of 'alien and human stranded together'. And as always, the chick is inept at everything, the alien (which is BARELY not human) is overly capable of everything, and they bond... as in BOND. As in, the entire book is BOND-ing. You know what I'm sayin', here.

This version of the plotline is a) too short, b) ridiculous - she never even TRIES to help him learn to speak with her, and yet he can pick up on *concept* words like 'safe'? Everything is provided for them - fruit, game, a knife, fire... even the pet is completely tame. There are no struggles with getting a creature that's afraid of water across a river with the boat falling apart in the rough current... the whole thing was just not, NOT, *NOT* well done.

Other issues:
1) Why would the empty lab on the planet have a translator device, if 'they' never intended for Jane to leave the planet?
2) Why would 'they' strand one of their best commanders on a deserted planet, forever? Isn't that counterproductive?

And short. Did I mention short? I'll try another, but... ((((sigh!)))) It's been done before. And better.

Honey never disappoints

A quick yet filling read, The Naked Alien hit all the right spots. If you want your feet to be swept off the jungle floor, read this sweet story of Tarax and Jane. The only thing I would change would be to make the book longer! I didn’t want to leave the characters so soon, but I love the setup for the next book!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

La historia es linda, no sé si tiene mucho sentido la gran explicación final, pero espero que en las próximas novelas de la saga todo quede más claro.

2.5

An interesting concept that could have been amazing, but it just wasn't written with enough depth. The stakes didn't feel high, the romance wasn't that spicy, and the problems were resolved too easily.

Still, I liked the plot idea and may consider reading another one at some point.

Naked survival meets Alien tropes galore. Well, I skipped all the sexy scenes and found the coolest character was the monkeycat. Want one too. Not going to read more of that series though.

3.4 stars. Light, fun alien romance.

This is a Tarzan and Jane retelling. Some nefarious background players who are responsible for kidnapping both of the main characters and putting them on a planet together. Sounds like we’ll get more pairings.

This is super shallow. Typical super capable alien male and weak human female. He can figure out what’s happening and has a translator so he can begin to understand her while she pretty much relies on him for everything, even before she knows it. At least he’s concerned about her consent. But it’s definitely more on the instalust category which never is my favorite. But it’s still fun enough to enjoy.

4 "Alien Planet Survival" Stars!

I loved this story. It was just what I needed and wanted it to be. A super sweet savage H. A damsel in distress h- yes, I like that once in a while. Language barrier. Foreign environment. Cute pet. All of it. I will absolutely be reading the next book. Happy reading!

This wasn't bad per say but it didn't blow me away. I liked the premise but it did feel like it was a little bit thrown into the plot of the stroy from the first page, without the characters being too curious about why. Then when its finally revealed, it was a little creepy but also kind of underwhelming.
I did really like Teraxen, he had a far more interesting story to him even through it wasn't delved into AT ALL but at least he seemed to have a life before these events.
Jane on the other hand was dull. We lesrn nothing about her life back home that's particularly interesting or thag has an impact on her actions here.
This is definitely the most insta-love sci-fi romance I've read yet because there wasn't a mate plot line. On one hand i liked that there wasnt a fated mating situation explicitly mentioned, but it did have the echos of it anyway in how quickly their relationship moved. I would have preferred a bit more curiosity for the world, for the their inability to communicate, for each others form/being. It would have just made it feel a little more authentic qnd less rushed.
The writing wasn't bad by any means, but there was definitely some early info-dumping/exposition which felt forced to read and also some questionable smutty word choice (pearl of pleasure?)
Anyway, this wasn't bad but clearly didnt blow me away. So im giving it a 2.5 star rating because it was just middle of the road.

He had never felt the need to hold a female after sex. Now he wondered how he could ever let Jayn go.

4 stars

This was a fast-paced and adventurous alien romance! Both Taraxan and Jane woke up on an unfamiliar planet, naked, with nothing but a map leading them to an unknown location. At first Tarax was confused yet inexplicably drawn to Jane; she had no idea how to survive in this jungle, but her determination and optimism kept her moving forward. Their courtship was spicy and filled with some tender moments that helped establish their connection and ultimately their HEA🖤

Tropes: insta-lust, opposites attract, cinnamon roll hero, fish-out-of-water heroine, forced proximity, hurt/comfort, language barrier, size difference, stranded together, found family, STEAMY🔥

This was a very cute short story. I liked the characters and thought they were pretty cute together.
I also love the idea of the little cat-monkey creature that gets introduced in the beginning. It sounded freakin cute and was a great companion to Jane.
The end was not very satisfying to me however. It opened a lot of questions and some questions haven’t been answered good enough for me.
However I still liked this a lot and will read the other books in the series too.

Quite boring.

The female lead needed help with everything. She's not even wary of Taraxan and instantly takes to him. Even her reaction to being stranded on an alien planet was unrealistic.

No interesting bits of added dose of sci-fiction and lots of unnecessary sex without building up to the scenes.

Not my cup of tea but if you want a short, alien romance series where the book ends with HEA, this one's for you.

I don't know whyyyy I keep trying alien romances. (Well, I think this is my 2nd, so "keep trying" is a bit of an overstatement.) There's just so much time wasted and hand-waving around the language and...compatibility...issues. I mean, this one was free and I was like, why not? And then it was short enough that I was like, might as well finish it.

It's basically that Naked and Afraid TV show, except with an alien.

I mean. There are probably excellent, well-plotted alien romances out there. Right? Should I do a Google search?

Anyway, if there are, this is not one of them.

3.5

Steam: 3.5/5 - There's a few scenes and they're explicit but not really that long... kinda surface overall.

Romance: 3/5 - It's a shorter story and things are pretty insta. The romance is there but again, it's not all that deep.

Plot: 3.5/5 - It's trying.

Rereadable: Neh

Continuing with series/author: I'd be willing to give another one of her titles a shot. Maybe a longer one?

This was my first in this genre for me. I have not read an alien book. It’s a lot like shifters but with some slight differences. It was an entertaining book. The ending was weird. It was very Blue Lagoon meets shifter paranormal romance.

I loved this book so much! Just short and sweet and funny and mysterious.

Honey Phillips is a great story teller! I won't go into the story because it's been done...but this series is fun and sexy and I love it!

Enjoyable

Short and sweet. I love novels with language barrier issues. The story was a bit surface-level and rushed but I think it was meant to be so it served it's purpose. Overall, it was a quick enjoyable read.
