They defeated me once. Never again. I was born to be queen, but my bastard half-brother took the throne. I did everything I could to wrest that crown from his undeserving grasp, but I failed. His name is known all around the world, and repeated with King Arthur. My name is known, as well, and I’m always the villain. The villain, for trying to protect Britain from an unworthy king. The villain, for doing what I had to do to expose treason in his court. His faithless queen and his court magician conspired against me and trapped me in a magical prison deep below the earth. I was kept awake and aware as the world changed around me, watching as Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere were reborn over and over, always reliving their accursed love triangle. Well, thank the gods for fracking. Mortals broke me free, and now I’m going to find those reborn souls and make sure they never reunite. And this time, Lancelot is going to be mine. Morgana is a stand-alone novella that is intended for mature audiences only. BDSM
I love King Arthur and Merlin and Guinevere and all the Arthurian mythology so this was right up my alley. One of my favourite films is even Quest for Camelot, which has an average of 45% on rotten tomatoes. I loved this book with its transporting of all the main characters, Morgana, Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin and Guinevere to the modern day US. There are some genuinely funny jokes and the characters work well in the modern setting. The tone reminded me of Stephen King at times, for better or for worse: my one issue is that I felt there were just too many love scenes.
Maybe another reader would be into that, I don't know; this could be a positive. Otherwise, I enjoyed a lot.
Holy fantastic re-imagined.... I don't know if I have the words. I love the original story as much as anyone else and I knew immediately from the title, cover, and author that I would love this as well. I was in love with the tale from Morgana's POV, but I was definitely not expecting that ending! Another great work of art from Tiegan Clyne.
