She spent ten years in a coma. Now, 760 pounds later, Sara hungers for revenge. Growing up, Sara had always been that girl---the fat girl. The one the kids made fun of. The one with no dates, no friends, and who had to endure the taunts, the humiliation, and the loneliness. Her wealthy mother was a size 6, single parent who loved her only child, but did not get it, “How could such a smart girl weigh 800 pounds?” Neither Sara nor the myriad of doctors who tried to treat her obesity, got it either.
˃˃˃ When her mother is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she needs someone to care for Sara after she dies. She turns to a handsome young attorney with a deal: “You get $250,000 every year Sara stays alive.”
˃˃˃ Seeing opportunity, the attorney enlists the aid of a former college roommate, now physician. They have a plan; it works, Sara loses weight. She also has vivid dreams.
˃˃˃ Someone comes to her room each night and in the darkness touches Sara. Then more. Things she has never experienced before Initially repulsed, she soon anticipates and longs for the touch. But it was all a dream---or was it?
The plot was so bad and so unrealistic. The editing is terrible. The characters contradict themselves and the writer seems to forget what has already been done. For example... Sara asks Connor to dance with her and he says ok but that he's not a very good dancer. But in the chapter before he danced with her and bored her while telling stories of his new truck. So....that was a little unsettling. There are many of these kinds of contradictions throughout the book. I am an overweight woman and while I am not close to 800 pounds I hear the taunts and cruelty from others all the time. But I think that once you reach a medical intervention weight no one calls you names anymore but feel something different. The taunting stops and the feelings of wanting to say something hurtful also stops. I really have a problem with how she loses weight and the medical and physical things happening to her would not be possible and if they were...not humanely. This book seems to be...to me...justified fat soft porn.
If you like books where rape victims enjoy being victimized, and some pretty nasty sex scenes here you go. It takes a lot to gross me out but this did it. I have it two stars because finished it but I'll delete it off my kindle NOW.
Ten years of psychological terror and fear until freedom.
Being fat all of your life is a mindset that never leaves. Not even when the weight is gone. The fear is always there of regain and the pain and cruelty one goes through with others. Fat people try to laugh at others and themselves as she did, but deep down it hurts. Everyone has someone they want to get back at when the time comes. High school reunion, funeral, wedding. One day someone will pay. When her mom arranges for someone to take care of her 800 lb daughter before her death it becomes a game of My Own Barbie for a psycho estate lawyer who makes the next ten years a living hell for the daughter and crosses every bond and law that has ever been written. Little does he realize people in comatose conditions can still feel, hear and sometimes understand what is happening to them. When it’s time to come back to the real world against his wishes she has an agenda of her own. A great book! Looking into the mindset of an overweight child and teenager he got many of the emotions correct. As I was the former. The bullying is tuff and that part of the book happens every day in this society. I have recommended this book to several of my friends.
Very clever and very classic. That is what makes this book exemplary. It has the creativity of Indie work, yet the restraint and polish of regular literature. This is very well done. it is intriguing, smutty, conscious, and novel. It reads easy, but not condescendingly. It's majorly a psychological thriller, but the suspense factor is definitely there as well.
If I were to complain I may say it is too smutty, and too creepy. However, I realize that this was necessary to the novel. I have never read a novel quite like this. The creativity of some is amazing.
I must admit I was intrigued to see where this was going. I'm rewarding this one for uniqueness and bite, but how disturbing and uncomfortable. I totally wanted a different ending. Am I dissatisfied? Maybe, but not with the storytelling or writing, but sometimes a girl can dream....No spoilers here. You'll see what I mean. Worth grabbing this one and reading. But be cautious if you are prone to trigger, has some disturbing moments.
This was probably the most strangely plotted book I have ever read. It pushed the boundaries of common sense in a few ways but never broke them. I was quite fascinated most of the way and a little surprised when it ended. I could have read more.
Was not what I was expecting at all, I had trouble putting it down. I also had nightmares when I read it at night, that does not happen to me. This is a very twisted book.
This book is awful. Like I get the concept but what the hell did I just read. First of all as an icu rn who reads lots of medical fiction, ithink you write horribly for medical fiction. You should have had a doctor or a nurse sitting with you when you wrote this crap. First of all let's talk about the fact that you had a patient sedated for 10 years in this book, and while there's machines buzzing around her would you decide it's going to take a couple of weeks to reduce her sedation, you literally have a guy give her water? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. And then you have the main male character giving her oral? She's been in a coma you even said that she had a catheter. What the hell? Have you ever seen a catheter inside a f****** human body? Because I swear there's no way you're putting your tongue around that for pleasure. The crap that comes out of there is disgusting. And then you mutilate somebody over 10 years, because she's fat. Like I had to stop reading after the point in which the doctor comes in because he just fired the nurses, and this guy sounds like he looks like a strange serial killer. I don't understand what you were thinking when you decided to put this book out, but it's one that you need to real back. And it is so obvious that you're a guy who doesn't know where a clitoris is, because I swear somebody who writes a sex scene with she grabbed his penis, she stroked his penis, she put his cock in her mouth, is oh my gosh just so delightful and makes me so wet that I can't stand it insert that eye rolling Emoji here. This book should have never been printed I can see why it's a Kindle unlimited book.
While this book is not for the faint of heart, I found it to be well written and a compelling read. For a woman who has battled weight (and the attendant rejection from others) all my life, I found this to be a satisfying story of comeupance. When I was thin, doors and opportunities opened for me that were not available when overweight. Mr. Donahue nailed it.
Other reviewers mentioned contradictions in the narrative. If one reads carefully, you’ll realize this is not the case. This author often sends up red herrings, but if a reader pays attention, will realize all questions he poses are answered. Specifically, Sarah asked Connor to dance because she KNEW he was terrible at it—it was a means to an end for her (no spoilers).
Someone else complained that because she works for a plastic surgeon, the story could not be possible. Well, I know a plastic surgeon that says it could. And even if not—This Is A Story. A book. FICTION!! Dislike it for content, language, the plot, but not because it is not ‘possible’. JK Rowling would not have become a gazillionaire if ‘being true to life’ were the sole criteria!
Be prepared for language and some situations that may be uncomfortable, but give this one a try.
It was refreshing to read about something different. It seems like all the books on Amazon are all some sort of dectective/former soldier/fbi agent solving some mystery or murder. It was fast paced and kept interested to find out how it ends.
At first, I was really enjoying the book I sympathized with Sara because, at times, it felt like the author had, umm...how do I put this...I felt almost everything Sara felt all that hurt, pain, betrayal and this is one of the reasons the book will stick with me for days to come. However the parts with that guy(I forgot his name) left me with a very bad taste in my mouth, the only words that come to my mind when I think of him are that he is a disgusting, lying, piece of shit. (Sorry for my language) And the parts with him included were too smutty. (I don't mind a bit of smut but this was too much!!) Also, another reason why I didn't give the book a higher rating was because of the way Sara lost weight, it was very unrealistic for someone to lose so much weight in such a short period of time and in that way because if the method used in the book was possible, wouldn't multiple people be lining up to get it done to themselves? But despite all that I learned a lot from the book and Mark Donohue got Sara's mindset and emotions perfectly.
Well it was definitely a different premise! Don't read it you cannot handle manipulative people, molestation etc., and revenge in spades. Not for the faint of heart. And lots of normal sexual encounters as well.
Though i don't know if i really believe the story could ever happen, it was interesting enough to keep going. Nice twist at the end. I do believe Sara's emotional state after waking. And i can totally believe the antagonist could think and justify their actions throughout their life. Psychopathic tendencies if I've ever seen them! But plenty of believable people help balance the crazy. Believable, flawed humans.
The editing definitely needs some work. Not grammatical errors, but plenty of typos. 1 star docked for that and weird formatting with the paperback.
Sara is one girl who was overweight. People at school made fun of her and she had no friends. Her mom tried to get her to lose weight but nothing worked and soon she became 800 pounds. Her mother was rich but dying so she left Brandon an attorney to be in charge of her care.
Beware Brandon is one seriously deranged, damaged, abusive, manipulating jerk you will love to hate.
He does terrible things to Sara just so he can stay living in the house and make money. He turns her into the woman of his dreams. He torments her for 10 years while keeping her drugged up and in bed.
This was dark. I anticipated it being pretty disturbing, but wow. As a former fat person, I was rooting for Sara to change her life and make big moves, but I also just wanted to see Brandon get murdered. He is a vile person who was given far too many chances.
All around, I enjoyed the book even if some parts made me physically cringe.
A very dark and twisted, intense, fast-paced, riveting, artful melding of stunning psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense. An edgy mystery full of dark secrets, shocking plot twists and pulse-pounding, palpable tension. A MUST for fans who thrive on superbly-written, unputdownable thrillers!
This is what I call suspense! Holly cow I read this in a day and a half . the author addressed several issues with finesse and even through there a few too many explicit sex scenes it really is an edge of your seat book.
This is a very interesting book. New author to me and wonder about his imagination! The title of this book gets your attention. It is about so much more. Many interesting characters in this book. Money can buy you Almost Anything!
