With their wedding anniversary only a day away, and his return to town falling within those same twenty-four hours, she has all bases covered when it comes to how they’ll be celebrating. But when things don’t go exactly as planned, and accidents turn into arguments, she can’t help but wonder if the three-year itch has snuck its way into their marriage.
While thoughts of becoming too complacent may be looming for Shayne, Danny Reynolds knows his anniversary gift to his wife is bound to shake things up. But when he also finds himself on the receiving end of a huge surprise, it doesn’t take long for the couple to realize it may be time to say goodbye… to Building 402.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Complacent was kind of a let down. I was expecting so much more and it did not deliver. The storyline felt rushed and it shouldn't have considering the author had two years to write this book. I didn't dislike Shayne and Danny but, I didn't necessarily love them either. They were definitely my least favorite couple in this series. I didn't understand why everyone was so against their relationship just because they got together so fast. I especially didn't like Danny's brother. Dennis was flat out disrespectful with some of the shyt he said about Shayne and, not one time, did Danny ever check him about it. Overall, Complacent was not the exciting finale I was expecting and it's kind of sad since we had to wait two years for this book.
The married couple…..I enjoyed the passion this couple had for each other. There was no doubt the love was real between them. I wish we had more context regarding Danny’s mother and brother…but this was definitely a cute story.
2nd read was the newly released audiobook narrated by Wesleigh and Myles Washington
I loved this series but, Complacent didn't really do it for me. Shayne and Danny didn't resonate with me like the other characters but, that doesn't take away from the series. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the tenants of Building 402 and I'm sad to see this series come to an end.
🎶🎵Still feels like the first time we met That I kissed and I told you I love you🎵🎶
Shayne had been preparing for her husband's return from tour in the previous book and the time was finally here! Unfortunately Danny did not stick to her script and everything that could go wrong did. Shayne was starting to feel like they may be hitting a rut, she was feeling some type of way. Danny on the other hand was fully locked in and was trying to make a dream of hers come true.
These two had an unorthodox meeting, but quickly fell madly in love. Three years later they were still deeply in love, despite having some moments where they were not on the same page. The love was felt and I would totally read a full story about their next chapter.
I thoroughly enjoyed the other book in the series. This one felt different. I didn't get the same fiery chemistry that dominated the other three books in the series. The potential was there but not explored enough causing this series finale to feel anticlimactic.
Shayne and Danny’s story was sweet but just read ok to me. Not my favorite of the series but a nice close. I loved all the updates and the special reason behind them possibly leaving building 402! Brandi is a hoe and I’m glad that this is where the storyline ends for her! Overall I enjoyed this series and can’t wait to dive into more books in Alexandra Warren’s back catalog!
I'm torn between being amused or whatever...Shayne was always dramatic and worrying about nothing. She came off as immature intentionally. I guess Danny balanced her out. This series was meh.
We are back in Building 402! This fourth and final installment focuses on residents Shayne and Danny Reynolds. As they celebrate their third marriage anniversary, Shayne is worried that they are becoming too complacent with each other.
Alexandra Warren has done it again. “Complacent” was funny, sexy, and relatable. Danny’s brother was something else. Could not stand him! I loved getting little updates on the other occupants of Building 402 and will definitely miss reading about them. This book was a great conclusion to the series and well worth the wait!
While I don’t want to say goodbye to building 402, this was a great way to end the series. I think I love Shayne and Danny the best, although his brother Dennis (a literal menace) could take a long walk off a short bridge. I loved the cameo of one of my A Dub favs as well. But whyyyyyy did that h*e Brandi have to win after all the issues she caused in the building? Now that I think about it, they deserve each other.
This had me laughing out loud at multiple points! It's such a cute romcom about a marriage that isn't actually in trouble, but they've let talk about the 3-Year Itch send them into a spiral.
I'm not usually into celebrity romances or influencer romances, but this had a small enough dash of each that it didn't annoy me. The male lead is a music photographer who's often on the road, and the female lead is a beauty Youtuber and MUA. The story isn't super career heavy, it's more about each person gassing the other up and wanting the best for them - even though the long distance is hard.
A word of warning though - this is a surprise baby story. I didn't hate it though and normally that shit sends me running for the hills!
While this can be read as a standalone and I didn't feel I was missing out, I loved the sense of community among the Building 402 neighbours and really want to read on in this series!
Building 402 is the place to be where great friendships, bonds and future relationships are formed. How can anyone say goodbye to this place. The final couple gets their story told and what a great way to end this series. The title definitely fit what Shayne and Danny found themselves in when it came to their marriage. I loved how Shayne was willing to do anything to spice up their relationship. Although they had their moments, Danny's surprise gift was worth it all. Their distance will be a thing of the past as they embark on a new journey together. Great read I thoroughly enjoyed.
I have enjoyed this building 402 series this last book covering Shayna and Danny. The only married couple of the group. Shayna had been preparing for her husband Danny’s return home from his out of the country photography job.she was preparing a special surprise for their third wedding anniversary. I had no idea What to expect with these two I laughed and then when the complacency conversation came up I became real concerned and so did Danny. Without giving a lot away I’ll just say these two were cut and funny. And I hope that one day will be more stores about the folks from Building 402❤️
Whatever she read that talked about the 3 yr relationship complacency phase needs to be thrown out, deleted or burned! This book had me cracking up with all of the mishaps that happened while trying to spice things up. It was opposite of what I thought I was about to read thinking about all the horror stories I’ve heard about people who get complacent in their relationships. But these two were solid! Funny, clumsy, but loving. I enjoyed this book.
Shayne and Danny's story is maybe the last one for Building 402. And it's been a treat reading about the folks who called it home. So much happened over the past years, and it was nice to see happiness abound for each pair. Shayne cracked me up with some of the things she said. Danny tried to stay on the right side of his wife, Lol. Overall, this was a good revisit to this place we've grown to adore and the people inhabiting Bldg 402.
A great way to get an update on the couples in Building 402
I loved the mini reunion of all the tenants of Building 402!! Some amazing love stories have come out that building. I will say that Danny's brother was really negative for no reason. 3 years of them being married should have been enough time for him to see that Shayne was legit when it comes to Danny. It was refreshing to see a couple talk things out and communicate with one another to prevent confusion.
I loved watching Shayne and Danny celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary. They were both worried that things may start to get boring. Between the stripper pole and the sex tape, I couldn't stop laughing!
They have a super loving relationship and the "surprise" that Danny gave to Shayne was absolutely awesome! What a way to make someone's dream come true!
Alexandra this book was so worth the wait. Shayne and Danny - loved them.. With this being the final book in the series I guess it makes sense that Shayne and Danny would also be the first to leave building 402. It was great catching up with all the building 402 residents. I was even happy to see Brandi get her HEA.
To a series that actually won me over on the novella length form of storytelling! Shayne and Danny overcame their lil three year rut, and emerged as a stronger unit. Although the complacency seemed to be more from Shayne's viewpoint alone. Loved catching up with the previously featured tenants as well!
It was great to pop back into Building 402 and catch up with everyone. I'm glad everything worked out for Shayne and Danny and they were able to weed through anniversary jitters and embark on new adventures together. I suppose that was the wrap up but I look forward to revisiting the couples in the future
Well from the start you may want to strap in because emotionally this book takes you on a roller coaster 😜. Shay and Danny were definitely meant to be the patience and understanding on both sides was a beautiful and real thing to see. I definitely love all the characters from building 402 and can’t wait to see who’s life we get to peak into next.
Cute look into apartment life with a young married couple. Big plans, dreams and worries abound when photography keeps a husband away from his wife.
Definitely high heat moments but a nice look into a new setting. I appreciated how easily Warren wove stories together that I hadn't read into this one.
Fun, easy to read novella. Witty with solid humor and heart.
Going into this story, I had no idea it was about a married couple, but true to Warren’s style, she told a fun and realistic story about people in love. Danny and Shayne’s banter and quasi-fights were legit like a married couple, and it had me giggling throughout.
This entire series is excellent, I definitely recommend!
Even though this was a short story I didn’t feel cheated. I loved the couple and I am very pleased with how their story was flushed out. It was also great to get a glimpse of what the other residents were up to. It was a little like stopping by the old neighborhood.
Going back to check in on the residents of Building 402 was a lot of fun! Danny and Shayne had a mix of a few situations that could occur within any relationship at any given time. Their story is well written without too much to lose you but just enough to tell a sweet story!
I like the continuation of Building 402, the crazy drama and out of balance distance love life being real. I was happy for the characters chemistry and the details giving them a chance to make three successful years of marriage. Making out work while separated. I'd recommend this shirt read to friend who would read the series. Author was creative and decent.
Shayne and Danny are such a cute couple! I loved their rapport. This story was full of laugh out loud moments. I hated to see it end. It was great catching up with all the couples of 402. I’m glad Shayne was given the opportunity to do her dream job and she gets to do it with her husband! I have no doubt Shayne and Danny have a bright future together!
Underwhelmed! …Hmmm, something was missing🥴❗Actually, I expected much more from “Complacent: A Building 402 Novella - Book 4 of 4 series finale (3.5). A good read nonetheless. However, Shayne & Danny characters were either underdeveloped and or too mature for building 402. Of the four books and couples, Eve & AJ were the best in this series.
Shayne got on my last nerve in the beginning of this book and was starting to tap fame on them again. Even with that, I absolutely loved this book. Danny knew how to handle her, because she is a mess, but she is very much relatable. Keep the greatness coming
