You know how to be a human thinking, and a human doing, but do you know how to be a human BEING?
BEING isn’t just the absence of doing. It’s a dynamic place within you. Transform your experience of life by developing the ability to inhabit it. Discover how to cultivate the five states of BEING, and create all that your life can be – from your true self.
BEING is a practical roadmap, and offers the antidote to the chaos that living in our head creates for us: psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. In learning to inhabit Being, you will find: • True rest and relaxation • Mental peace and emotional equilibrium • The true voice of your authentic self • A sense of empowerment • Your own vision and a framework for how to create it. • How to fulfil the promise of your unique potential as a human being.
In a society obsessed with switching-off, and chilling-out, few have any consistent experience of true rest and relaxation. The kind that restores and re-aligns us, that deepens our experience of life. Especially the kind that brings us back to ourselves - fully experiencing life, instead of merely thinking and doing. Coming to live in Being is also an alternative to the escape routes of excess food, sugar, alcohol, drugs, shopping etc. You create a life you don't need to escape from.
BEING is the 101 on Being: understanding it, recognizing it, and cultivating experiences of it. Firstly, it leads you along the path towards peace, equilibrium and happiness by learning to live in Being. Then it expands into how you create all that you want in yourself and your life, by also learning to live from Being. With a clearly set out structure, BEING leads readers through an exploration of all that Being is. You come out of your head and into your heart, become awake and aware, and create a vision for yourself and your life. In Head Stuff we see what we experience by living in our heads, in a mostly head world. In Heart Stuff we learn to live more from our hearts. Then we journey through the five fundamental states of BEING, with chapters on each: Love, Awareness, Acceptance, Gratitude, and Creativity. These concepts are illustrated, and brought to life, through extracts from the author's own journals, detailing the A-Z of her transformative journey to living in and from BEING, making them more relatable for readers.
For each state of Being there is a Key Points summary, and a Putting it into Practise section - with tips and ideas to start cultivating each state. The last section of the book, Transformation, has a detailed framework, taking you through all the practical steps to integrating all of the concepts into your life. Finally, the reader is taken through the process of creating their own vision for their life, and building the framework to achieve it. Counsellor/therapist Lynn Mann guides you clearly, and systematically, along the route she took, towards fulfilling the promise of your unique human potential. The destination is a better experience of life, with less mental and emotional turmoil.
Written in a friendly, engaging, and collaborative style, BEING draws readers into seeing and believing that transformation in themselves and their life is not only possible but inevitable, by following the process that the author has experienced and sets out here.
BEING is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle meets Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

I received a gifted advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via Lovebookstours and the author.
Being is a self held guidance book for transforming your life and life experiences to bring happier and content. There are five states of BEING in this book: love, awareness, acceptance, gratitude and creativity. The book is divided up into chapters for you to work through and absorb, understand and inhabit. How this works for you will depend on the time, effort and understanding you have of the book. This book was very easy to understand and I loved the journal entries in each section too. This book is a fantastic guide to awakening, living and experiencing life as your authentic self and a book everyone should read to help them find a calm, peaceful and happier life, especially today!
from Avoidance to Acknowledgment from chatter to stillness & from living to being
How much of it will work for a person will depend on how they apply this book. As a practicing emotional & mental wellness coach this book stuck a chord because it was profound without being condescending.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Have you been kind to yourself lately? Let’s face it, we are our own worst critics - we are all guilty of judging ourselves for not being smart enough, not being a good enough parent, not being healthy enough, not being attractive enough - it goes on and on. We live in our heads and our inner voice can be far from supportive.
Being is a deeply personal journey of how to become aware of that oh so opinionated inner voice and to learn to turn it down and just “be” with yourself. To learn how to be kind and accepting of yourself and others.
I admit, I am one of the biggest culprits of living in my head. I suffered postpartum anxiety so I was “not a good enough mum or wife”. Then not long after I returned from maternity leave, lockdown hit. Thankfully I still had a job, but my inner voice was now telling me I “wasn’t a good enough mum, wife, employee, manager, friend, daughter, sister” it never stopped. I was struggling with the ambivalence of wanting to be around others but not wanting to - what Being has helped me understand is I was searching for a deep connection with others - something the pandemic has taken away from all of us. As humans we need to connect on an intimate level and we have just spent a year forcing ourselves not too.
This book has opened my eyes in a way mindfulness and meditation never could for me. There are journal entries from Lynn, which make the experience human. It is beautifully and delicately written and her kindness and softness shines through. It takes you through the various steps of love, awareness, acceptance, gratitude, and creativity, and ultimately how to move from living in your head to in your heart (or “being”). I also took away some fabulous book recommendations from within the book 🖤
Being is a journey, an experience. One to read and refer to over and over. This has been such an immensely difficult year for us all, and I would invite everyone to read this book and begin their own journey on how to find your authentic self ✨
Thank you to Lynn and LoveBooksTours for the gifted copy.

This book definitely struck a chord with me, a beautiful breath of fresh air to read. I appreciated how the author shared her own life experiences, offering me a “ready made”, familiar connection to her. Breaking down the 5 states of Being, made me open my mind and analyse where I fitted in to each one. I’m so grateful the author chose to write in an “easy to understand” way, as previous mindfulness books I have read have often left me confused, resulting in unanswered questions. The message was very clear, enabling me to personally relate whilst enjoying reading it for relaxation and feeling a sense of self empowerment, it was a throughly welcome distraction to a very busy schedule, one of which I will want to refer to over and over .
Thank you to @lovebooktours and Lynn B. Mann for a #gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you so much to lovebookstours and lynnb.mann for arranging the blog tour and sending me this stunning book.
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The book is split into three parts. In part two the author talks about the Five States of Being: love, awareness, acceptance, gratitude & creativity.
Each chapter consists of a few pages about the State, extracts from the authors own personal journal, putting the State into practice & key points.
It’s all broken down really easily. It’s very easy to read and understand. It’s so good to be able to relate to the authors own story/journey. If you write in a journal yourself, there are many questions and prompts throughout the book that you can use to help get your thoughts onto paper.
I particularly enjoyed part three. I feel that it is a section I can go back to again and again. I may have to get the highlighters out!! (& my journal).
Life is difficult, especially at the minute. This book serves as a reminder that it isn’t all doom & gloom and you CAN come out of the other end. From a personal point of view, I’m going through a hard time at the moment and I am struggling, so yes, I really am going to go back through the book and highlight/make notes. I need to make a change and this book is sure to help if used correctly as a ‘tool’ and not *just a book* In case you haven’t already gathered, I loved it. I will continue to love it and work with it.
I've always been a big fan of mindfulness books or self help books. This intrigued me in particular because of the title and the fact that I'd not heard of this author.
I enjoyed learning more about the 5 stages of Being and liked the key points that were bullet pointed at the end of each chapter. I thought the author’s own journal extracts were a nice personal touch in the book where the author shared her own experiences with the reader and in some cases there is a sense that the reader feels like they’re not alone and that someone else may be going through/or have been through a similar experience.
This was a book that arrived at the perfect time for me following a period of stress in my life and being unwell. I found myself opening the book to certain chapters to read and learn more and did find myself drawn to the chapter of Gratitude on more than one occasion. One of my favourite key points from the Gratitude chapter is “Gratitude is a lens through which you get a different view of your world”.
This is a book that you could read in one go or could pick up and put down depending on where you are on your life and your journey, looking at the relevant chapters for inspiration and guidance. This is a book that I will be using as a reference point and whilst journaling or just making a note of my thoughts. Definitely a book for those like me who like self-help/mindfulness books.
What I love about this book is Lynn B. Mann really lies herself bare. I find with a lot of self-help books authors share their experiences but they are so polished I sometimes find it hard to relate. I really connected with what Lynn B. Mann said and had experienced a lot of what she wrote especially in her journal extracts.
Everything centres around Being, meaning connecting or re-connecting with yourself, and taking the time to recognise where this isn’t happening. Focussing on the here and now, what steps can you take to enjoy life a little more through gratitude, love, meditation, using your creativity in life and just generally being aware of when this may happen and how to sustain it. Lynn B. Mann really emphasises this is a journey and one that took her a long time to build, she maybe didn’t have time to meditate each day but that’s ok, steps for self- improvement or self-love take time. Appreciate the here and now, be kind to yourself and set realistic goals.

I am a big believer in gratitude and living mindfully so this book sounded right up my street.
‘Being’ took many of the popular ideas about being mindful and present in the moment, being aware of your emotions and practising gratitude but expanded on them to include the idea of your core soul and living from your heart. The book explored how, in this day and age, many people have become locked in their heads and make decisions through a convoluted control trip of the mind. That as humans we have moved away from feeling what decisions to make and trusting in our soul to determine the right path’s for us. This felt like a very personal journey for the author and excerpts from her private journal helped me to identify with some of the life issues that this book try's to help with. Each section of the book explores either the concept of living ‘in Being’ or works through practical ways to live ‘in being’.
I enjoyed the concept of the book and loved the idea that we have a separate voice inside us from that in our head. It was a bit of a revelation to consider the fact that we must each have that ‘other’ voice inside us or otherwise we would never question our decisions. If our minds were in total control then we would have no ‘gut instinct’, ‘intuition’ or ‘sixth sense’. I liked the ‘how to’ elements of the book and thought the practical activities to complete were a great way to cement the concepts. Overall, this was a great introduction to a lofty concept but one that I definitely would like to read more about and try to put into practice.
You know what it’s like to be a human thinking and a human doing, but do you know what it’s like being a human being?
Being is not just a book to read, it is an experience, a journey. It’s one to read, to learn from, to take away from. (Including book recommendations).
It was very thought provoking and I will definitely be returning to it in the future to delve deeper into some of the ideas Lynn writes about (I’ll be taking my notebook).
We are all our own biggest critics, feeling useless or like we are not good enough but we need to remember to be kind to ourselves. If you get the chance to pick this one up I would recommend doing so.
I was also a big fan of the layout of the book, while it has chapters like books usually do they were spilt into easy to follow parts. Each chapter also has a key points page which I am a big fan of.
All in all I enjoyed this book and would recommend to pick it up if you have the chance!
I loved the cover of the book, it is so calming and fits very well with the theme of the book.
I really enjoyed the book as the author takes you through a journey which aims to help you be the best you. I have recently finished a course in mindfulness and I felt so much of the book resonated with me and reinforced how I'm now trying to live my life.
The book is split into chapters with key points at the end to help you focus. The chapters are also interspersed with extracts from the author's own private journals which I feel adds so much to the book. I feel a lot of what she has written I, and probably many others, have felt at some time in our life. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on Awareness and Gratitude.
I really would recommend this book and it is one I will be dipping in and out of regularly.
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Having always had an interest in mindfulness and spirituality I knew that this book was one I just had to read! Lynn helps us to follow the journey to find our true selves , our souls and to live in Being. I am definitely someone who self criticises and has a busy mind and tend to be an over thinker. This book helps you to follow a journey to transform your life from a human thinking to a human being. I know it will take me some time, practice and rereading sections of the book to remind myself how to inhabit Being. But I am definitely on the right path after reading this book and look forward to feeling true rest and relaxation and being my true self.
This book has been helping me cope with my PTSD. I have always been confused about my emotions and life experiences and I wish I had this book earlier to help me understand who I am and how I can improve myself and gain back those life skills lost during the traumatic times. I'm now looking forward to the future and I feel confident that this book will help me to understand what it means to be a human being and transform my life for the better.
What an exquisite book - gentle, nurturing and full of potential. Before the book is open, the cover feels velvety and inside the pages are coded, with waves on pages featuring journalling ideas and spirals on the pages about putting ideas into practice. This book feels like a friend - trustworthy and with your best interests at heart. Highly recommended.
Review In my opinion this is a book that everyone needs to read. I have been reading and digesting over the past few weeks and I have loved this journey.
I feel more content and myself than I have in a very long time. I'm a massive advocate for self care anyway and am a strong believer of you cant pour from an empty cup. This book reaffirms that and the importance of Being.
I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to explore this book and go on the journey and it will be satisfying to see my ongoing results. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
