The Kincaid Werewolves #1

Lone Wolf's Claim

Rate this book
Run, little faerie. Run.
I have all kinds of plans for what I'll do when I catch you.

Brock Hume is a lone wolf, and right now he's hunting the most tempting prey he's ever encountered. He really can't help himself. Her scent reminds him of the heather blossoms of his homeland, and she has curves he can't wait to get his paws on. And she was running from him…
A werewolf.

Heather Knight has to be the worst faerie ever, but being that she grew up as a human, that really shouldn't be a surprise. She can't even tell when a man isn't actually a man at all. And she really should have known, for no mortal human was that hot. To protect her heart — and her true identity — she runs.

In a strange twist of fate, Brock and Heather find themselves thrown into the dark world of the fae. To win the game, and rescue the girl, Brock will have to learn the truth about his mate, but her secrets could also tear them apart…

L.E. Wilson writes Paranormal Romance starring intense alpha males and the women who are fearless enough to tame them—for the most part anyway. ;) In her novels you'll find smoking hot scenes, a touch of suspense, a bit of gore, and multifaceted characters, all working together to combine her lifelong obsession with the paranormal and her love of romance.

Her writing career came about the usual way: on a dare from her loving husband. Little did they know just one casual suggestion would open a box of worms (or words as the case may be) that would forever change their lives.

Lattes and music are a necessary part of her writing process, and sometimes you'll find her typing away at her favorite Starbucks. She walks two miles to get there, to make up for all of those coffees.

This is the first book in The Kincaid Werewolves series and I was curious about it because I loved the Deathless Night series.

The story starts with Brock hunting Heather who disappears after learning he is a werewolf. Brock and Heather share a strong attraction which helps them bond.

When Heather's mom learns she is in Seattle, she wants Heather to leave Seattle before anybody finds her. Heather has been hidden from the Fae Prince who is known for his dubious decisions.

Brock is a lone wolf with a secretive past. Heather thinks that all Fae are strange folk and has not explored her powers yet.
When the Prince gets his hands on them, he throws Brock and Heather in another hostile dimension. Brock has 5 days to get Heather back to the starting point. A coin toss decides whether their journey will be uneventful or they will run into obstacles conjured by the Prince's devious mind.

Overall this was an enjoyable read, a combination of romance and adventure.
The only problem for me was length - I wish the book was longer so we could know the characters on a deeper level. I felt a little disconnected at times but not in a major way.
I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content
I liked the concept of this story, but I just could not get into this one. The lead female character is suppose to be this powerful being, but read as helpless 95% of the book. I found "Scottish brogue" hard to follow. I think many places were overly wordy which made the story boring for me.

The Test

Brock is an outcast, a lone wolf who has followed a woman he believes is human from China to Seattle. But then a man she refers to as Prince appears on the scene and Brock and Heather are pulled in opposite directions through a portal. Brock lands hard in wolf form, then finds a note instructing him to find Heather and be back at the starting point in five days. Easy enough, except he has no idea where he is, much less where to find Heather in this strange land full of sudden dangers.

I read Wilson's Deathless Night series and absolutely loved it. The Kincaid wolves were some of my favorite characters from that series. They were hilarious and come on the accent! Whoa! Does it for me every time. So when I saw that there was going to be a series for the wolf pack, I freaked out and I was not at all disappointed by the first book.

We actually meet Brock and Heather in the last book Blood Obsession from the Deathless Night series. Brock saves Heather and her friend Grace's lives and then follows them to Seattle and that's kind of where the book starts. Brock has an insta lust thing going on for Heather and same for her. Except she is trying to run away and Brock is chasing her. So as Heather is trying to get away one of "her people" catch her and take her to their prince and Brock follows. That's where the fun begins. I won't give away a bunch of details because I hate spoilers but the two are thrown into another world and what happens in the world is up to a flip of a coin!

Seriously so much fun to read and it just has a different twist than any other shifter book. I can honestly say I've never read a book where either good or bad things happen based on a coin. Just goes to show that those faeries really are loons. ;)

I CANNOT wait for the next book! The author generously gave me a copy of this book :)

I do love me some Scottish werewolves. Now, I'm not saying that Brock is my favorite hero out of all the LE Wilson books. That honor goes to my Nik from Blood Hunger. Brock comes in a very close second, though. He's everything an alpha male should be: tough, protective and within kissing distance of over confident. But with Heather, he's also surprisingly tender and sweet. He's a complex hero, and I do ever-so-much love a complex hero. Heather is a good match for Brock. She's smart and quick-witted with a quirky sense of humor.

The plot of this one was a surprise for me. It was kind of a twisty Alice in Wonderland theme, and I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the idea. (As we all know, "unique" is hard to come by in the world of paranormal romance).

All in all, I highly recommend this one. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading the books in the Deathless Night series first for full enjoyment, starting with Blood Hunger (where you can meet my Nik).

Happy reading, all!

Linear Plot Fell Flat for Me

After helping her friend, Heather is being followed by a werewolf, who has caught her scent and sees her being taken to the fae prince. Brock and Heather are then put to the test in a fae world of fog and coins that will determine the future of the world.

Sounds deep, but..... meh. Not so much. The storytelling was good, but it was one-dimensional. I kept thinking something exciting would happen and drag the couple into some crazy adventure, but it wasn't too crazy.

... and I'm still not sure why there are Scottish werewolves in Seattle...

.. or why there were so many broken bones. So much time spent healing. It didn't move the plot forward. Basically, the plot is: Capture, trial, end. Too simple. If it didn't have the sex, it'd be a better YA book.

I really couldn't get into this. There wasn't much to this story. Mostly just the two main characters wandering through another dimension with arbitrary things thrown at them. There was no real connection between them other than sex which was both quick and uninspiring. So much more could have been made of Heather discovering who she was and also Brock's past. Too many things were not cleared up at the end. Also, a pet peeve for me is when authors try to write someone with a Scottish accent. Being Scottish, I have never ever heard anyone talk like that.

As a fan of the author’s Deathless Night series, I was anxious to get my grubby little paws on this book, which is the first in a Deathless Night spin-off series about the Kincaid werewolves. (They’re Scottish, y’all! How sexy!) As usual, the author didn’t disappoint. Full review on the blog: http://www.knockinbooks.com/reviews/t...

Considering this is the first book in the series, it was disappointing that the author dropped us midway into what I'm pretty sure is an already established universe with characters from other books without any explanation of who these people all were. The beginning was so confusing that I quit after 3 chapters and dnf'd the book.

DNF: I really couldn't get into this. There wasn't much to this story. Mostly just the two main characters wandering through another dimension with things thrown at them. I need a little more Umpf to the story maybe in the future I go back and read it but it’s just a dry read and I just can’t get through it.

the blurb sounded great but honestly if you take out the sex the story needs a lot of work. The basics are there but for me it needs more depth and character development as well as much more story to it.While this book wasn't for me others may enjoy

Heather has safely gotten her friend back to Seattle, but her parents freaked out when learning her location and demanded she head to the airport immediately. On the way she is cornered by a homeless man who knows her name and drags her to meet the Prince. Brock, the werewolf following her scent, is called out by these captors and they are forced to play a deadly game. Heather and Brock are sucked into a strange portal. He is given five days to find her and return to their evacuation site. Meanwhile along the way they are forced to learn each other’s secrets and suffer the consequences of magical coin flips. This unsteady couple is put on trial when they return from the challenge.

This short paranormal erotica tale gets a mixed review. Prince Nada had a scheme and a bag of aggressive crazy. Brock Hume would do whatever it takes to do the right thing. However, I was not that impressed with Heather. Her character was too wishy washy. I can’t walk three feet on the street, but I can hike for hours in the woods and am excellent at kick boxing. That isn’t how body kinesiology works. I’m a powerful plus sized woman with crippling self-doubt. I’ve never been curious about my fairy heritage or powers, let my parents provide me with everything, and need a man to save me. Her traits were either confusing or unlikable. While it is the first book in The Kincaid Werewolves series, it is clearly a spin off from an established world which is not given context in this volume. The interesting tale of how Brock and Heather met in China is told in another book. Brock’s hard life of having his village destroyed, growing up feral, being taken in by another pack, the betrayal of his alleged best friend, and his hard life as a lone wolf somehow only warrants a few flashback lines in this. The dark history of werewolves killing the fae who started feeding on human life force and the deception involved to hide the good tribes and lock the bad away beyond a dimensional rift; another interesting story which we are told quickly rather than being shown. Meanwhile we have a terrible warning from her parents, arbitrary consequences in a fake world, and rather passive responses from our leads. The magic rules are loose and while there is a decent amount of action, there are not any stakes. Broken limbs gone in hours. Poisonous toxic goo and dinosaur bites, walk it off. Boiling water, plummets from great heights, street fights… ultimately none of it matters which prevents tension and connection. I’m curious about the background mysteries but feel meh regarding the happily for now gifted ending to our lusty mis-matched couple.

I enjoyed Lone Wolf's Claim: A Paranormal Shifter Romance by L.E. Wilson. Brock is a "lone wolf" looking for a new pack in Seattle, but stumbling upon a mate instead. Heather is taking a quick trip to Seattle, but apparently her parents forgot to tell her to never go to Seattle since that's where the Fae Prince is. . . . if you can get over that stupid-ness, then you will enjoy the rest of the book. The Fae Prince decides to play with Heather and Brock by throwing them into a life or death game in another realm.

This was more fun than your average fated mate kind of book, since the majority of the book happens with the main two characters are on an adventure to get back home. They actually have time to get to know each other a bit. I think that's more fun than the whole "I smelled him/her and knew they were mine" kind of book. Of course in real life the whole smelling your mate would be very convenient; however, subway rides could occasionally get weird. .... would you applaud the new couple, or change trains at the next stop?

Brock and Heather's love story has a satisfying conclusion, but the book nicely sets up some continuing world drama. If you want to see how that drama ends, you can continue reading the next books without feeling like you were tricked or robbed.

I listened to it on Scribd. Philip Alces was a good narrator.

Brock Hume is a lone wolf. He was removed from pack for a terrible act. Heather Knight is a faerie who grew up in the human world away from her kind. Heather's parents ran with her to the human world to escape the new prince. Heather is Seattle visiting a friend when she is kidnapped but Brock is on her trail after a chance meeting. Brock has been unable to get Heather out of his mind. The attraction is undeniable but Heather knows Brock is a shifter and is running from him. Heather is brought to the Faerie prince and Brock follows. They find themselves in a new world while the prince plays games with them by delivering gold coins. They are required to flip the coins and select heads or tails before it lands. If they win they get something to help them it they lose they are faced with terror and danger. There is one big problem the werewolves and the faerie are sworn enemies. Will Brock and Heather survive the trails the prince is putting them through? If they do survive were will the live with both sides against them? I love this book, this is a great story with wonder characters. This is a must read.

A quick, fun read - 3 1/2 stars

This is Brock & Heather’s story. They were introduced in the previous series, but you don’t need to have read that series to enjoy this book. I enjoyed their story but I did think it was a bit rushed and not fully fleshed out. Most of the story takes place in an alternate universe (I think- it’s not really clear where they are). It seems to be at the whim of a prince. The story is mainly about Brock & Heather’s attempts to survive the scenario that the prince dropped them into as well as the relationship that quickly develops between them. Although the prince ultimately explains why he sent them to this place, it’s not really clear why these 2 are a part of his plan. I am definitely left with questions. Which, I’m expecting will be answered in the next book. So, while I think this book ended a bit abruptly, I do plan to read the next book. There was enough excitement and story that I want to continue on.

Magic, Fairies, and Werewolves What more could you want !! OVER 18 READING

Heather a young fairie (raised away from her clan and not even knowing she was a fairie till she was 16) meets a werewolf Hunter (who is without pack because he took the blame for a crime he did not do three years before to protect his oldest friend) and the fairie prince sends them on magical trip filled with danger . This trip was without their permission or each of their secrets being revealed to the other. This is a fun book telling things from the past and future leading to why it was important for these two to be forced together and all is explained by the end. A HEA ending.

I randomly came across this book thru Scribd. It was one of those "You read this we think you'll like this". So it sounded really good and said why not.

It's got promise. I think I mightve missed some backstory or maybe another series this is entwined with. You might want to start there cause the opening scene? Yea I was lost.

Some funny moments in it, some sex, and some drama. The storyline is decent. I enjoy some shifter stories from time to time. The chemistry between the 2 main is a tad lacking so if you're looking for super spice -- might want to pass.
It's an easy read and worth the time.

Excellent series

Read the vampire series and am now catching up on the werewolves who were introduced throughout. Brock is a lone wolf. He took the blame for something his best friend did and his punishment was to be beaten until he was almost dead and told he was never to come near the pack again. He's survived but it's been lonely. Then he sees Heather and is immediately drawn to her. He thinks she's human but he's wrong. She turns out to be fae and when the Prince of the faes finds her and Brock they are sent on a journey from Hell. Excellent story.

This is a lovely story with plenty of action that moves quickly. When a werewolf meets an amazing woman and cannot get her out of his mind, he follows her, all the way to another continent.

When that woman lusts after said man even after finding out he is a werewolf, things get tricky and then even dangerous.

There are other secrets and creatures who are looking for each of them, as their feelings for each other grow.

I look forward to reading the next book in this spin-off series.

This is a very quick read. It wasn't a bad story, but there really isn't room for everything that the story needs. I still had a lot of questions when I got to the end, but it didn't feel as though it was all to be explained in later books. Perhaps it will be, but I wasn't left desperate to find out what was going to happen next, just a little confused.
This was a free book and I do have the next in the series too. I might give that a go and see if it alters my view at all.

I got the book for free off bookbub dot com. I like how this book got right into the meat of the story right away. It was done in a way that was intriguing and captivating enough to want to not only read this book in one sitting but the whole series. The author gave enough information about the male protagonist's past to keep the reader engaged without being confused. The past was revealed closer to the end of the story at the perfect time in the story. This author did a really good job.

The Beginning!

This novel of Brock and Heather is the start of a new series but can be read as a standalone. The adventures are just beginning but Heather and Brock have quite a series of obstacles to overcome before they get their HEA. The things Brock and Heather go through are simply mind boggling but this story does keep the reader's attention and interest.

The state is set.

This series has the potential to keep me in the edge of my seat. The author takes the story and keeps me wondering "what next?" . I could hardly set the book down. I am so glad the next book is already published. It would drive me crazy waiting it it wasn't easy and waiting for me to scoop it up right now.

While i enjoyed parts of this novel, i can not help but feel it could be better. Did not like the whole Dinosaur`s part of it. I also feel that even though the love interest was a good one the plot was weak. While part of the plot made sense the rest of it did not and made for a slightly boring read that i struggled to finish.

I must have missed a story. I recognize the alpha but am clueless as to why Brock and Heather were singled out to be tested. Her parent’s explanation to get out was not fully flushed out. The Prince was weird. Loved the Scottish brogue from the werewolves. I remember Lucian from the vampires tails…he is a knucklehead.
