‘Bound not by blood but by loyalty. We live, we ride and we die By our own laws’’
I came to them looking for my father. What I found was a brotherhood. And a life that I finally fitted into.
As Prospect I’ve proven my loyalty , gotten my hands dirty. And now, I’m ready to wear the patch. There’s just one thing standing in my way.
Ella Jackson...
Beautiful, pure and everything I never thought I wanted. She’s also Prez’s biggest secret, and the final task Ive been set before I make the cut.
The Souls have a code, the consequence of breaking it is fatal. They call me reckless, and when it comes to her... they’re right.

STORY: Three books in with this author, and I find myself falling in love with her work with each book. The way she tells her stories feeds me and keeps me full until her next book. Job well done on this book and I have to thank her beta readers for this one as well.
So being honest, when I read Jimmer/Prez’s epilogue in Lost Soul to discover that Nyx’s story was next, I wasn’t sure because he is a prospect. How will a prospect’s story be interesting for me? Well, Nyx’s book was beyond my expectation.
The prologue was interesting, however, I was so enthralled from chapter one that I didn’t even realize there wasn’t any real communication between Nyx and Ella until 22%. I say this to note how pulled in I was as the author sets up both characters. Once these two came together, I couldn’t stop reading. The first part of the book took place in Ella’s life as there wasn’t as much MC atmosphere, because Nyx is undercover. The second half took us back to the MC world as we get more involve with the club. Nyx is everything, I don’t have one bad thing to say about him. The way he cares for Ella had me crushing on him throughout the story. Ella appears to be the princess on the outside but had so much chaos in her life.
I personally would advise on reading the first book, Lost Soul. Reckless Soul, could probably be read as a standalone, but I think how the author is building this MC world and the characters within it adds a better experience to the story.
CHEMISTRY: Physically and mentally I am so in love with Nyx’s Ella’s chemistry. Their connection was so amazing to read and their sexual connection added to the appeal even more when they came together.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: There were so many characters that were brought over from book one. We also saw a bit of a sister Charter out in Utah, so maybe we will see more of them in future books.
Abby - Ella’s friend. This was the only person I wanted to get some closure with that I didn’t get. I am curious to know what happen to her after what Nyx did.
Joanna - disappointed, especially in the end.
Troj - love him
Brax - Has a connection to Nyx, and he is an enforcer and his story will be next and I can’t wait. In Prez’s epilogue again in Reckless Soul, I thought, please not another secret daughter lol.
Jessie and Maddy - So glad to see a strong presence from them in this story as their story was lost Soul.
OVERALL, an amazing read from start to end and I am anxiously waiting for book 3.
✰✰TRIGGERS: family abuse verbal/physical, bullying, drug use and violence.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book’s release since the epilogue of the first instalment in this series teased at the plot. This book somehow managed to live up to my insanely high expectations! I loved the little bits of Nyx that we got to see in the first book, and he’s even more lovable when he’s well-fleshed out. We knew nothing other than Ella’s name prior to going into this book. She’s similar in personality to Maddy in the previous book. She’s sweet, has a little bit of a reckless streak to her, which nicely complements Nyx’s bad boy with a heart of gold. While there’s a bit of insta-love between these two, it’s far from smooth sailing, considering Nyx is putting his life on the line if he crosses the line with the Prez’s daughter. There’s oh so much delicious suspense in this book--from the bully of a captain of the football team at school, to Ella’s less than picture perfect father who is a federal judge. Like the first book in this series, there are some shocking twists (though nothing as wild as the major twist of the first book). While there are a few typos and grammatical errors throughout the book, it was never so bad that I got pulled out of the story. I just get stressed out when I see these typos, because I know some readers can be turned off by these things, and this series is so good! Of course, this book has its own epilogue with a teaser of what’s to come for Brax in the third book in the series. And I have to wait until August! Definitely putting a reminder in my calendar (like I did for this one!) 5 stars!
This book would have a much higher rating if it wasn’t so damn ridiculous. The writing is no issue its the ridiculous shit that happens.
First you have a prospect of an MC going “undercover” as a high school student.. this scary, tattooed man is suppose to pass for a high school student? It may have been atad more believable maybe if he was a Teacher’s Assistant but not a high school student who rides a motorcycle and is a tattoo artist who goes on runs 🙄
Then our Hero and heroine separate to keep her safe blah blah blah.. turns out shes HEAVILY pregnant when she decides to escape her abusive “dad”. Does anyone in her family notice she’s pregnant? Nope! Does she see a doctor? Nope! She claims she didn’t want her “dad” finding out.. so I guess it makes sense to sacrifice prenatal care!!!!
Okay so she gets attacked by her “dad” calls Hero to come get her and hes like shit we should take you to the hospital because you know.. baby!! But Nope heroine doesn’t want to because she doesn’t want “dad” finding her so off they go to the clubhouse to give birth with no doctor/nurse around.
So I end my review/rant the same way I started it....
WTF
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The Prez of the Dirty Souls MC has pulled Nyx aside and shows him a picture of a beautiful girl that he wants Nyx to get close with and see how she is doing. Oh, yeah, she just happens to be the Prez’s secret daughter. Let’s also add into that there is a club rule that daughters are off limits.
Since Nyx is only a prospect at this time he wants to prove his worthiness so Nyx is off to high school in order to get close to Ella. These two have great chemistry and Nyx is there to protect and keep watch over Ella. He also learns of the step-father and things don’t seem to be right.
I loved their story which is full of steamy chemistry and so many twists and turns it was hard to put this book down. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series because I am hooked.
Book two follows Nyx who has been given a task by Prez that is to be kept from everyone, even his brothers in the club. As a prospect, Nyx has to stop being reckless and follow the rules to get his cut. His task, Ella, may be a risk he's willing to take though.
This series of books just keep getting better and better!
After reading the epilogue in Lost Soul and seeing that Nyx's story was next I was intrigued how it was going to play out with him still being a prospect. I wasn't disappointed at all! His and Ella's story had me gripped from the start.
I loved reading about Nyx's backstory and the reasons that brought him to the Dirty Souls, and Ella's life was just heartbreaking.
I love how we still see the other characters throughout the books and how all their lives are connected, exactly how a family would be.
The story is told mostly from Nyx and Ella's POV but there are chapters from other characters too.
Again this is a dark romamce and there are TW's including SA, assault, murder and alcohol/drugs use.
Oh I can definitely see why this book has many good reviews. I most certainly enjoyed it but a tiny part of me wishes the ‘abusive scenes’ weren’t as descriptive. It broke my heart to read about her disgusting Father.

If you like your heroes jealous/possessive, be prepared to have your socks knocked off! Nyx was sent back to high school to keep an eye on his Prez Jimmer’s daughter, Ella. There are some hint’s of a threat against her and Jimmer wants to make sure that his remaining daughter stays safe. All Nyx was supposed to do was keep an eye on her, but right off the bat she tempted him into wanting more.
It’s not really stalking if her daddy made you do it, right?
✔️ J/P right off the bat ✔️ Sneaks in her room ✔️ Touches her while she’s sleeping
Not really sure that’s what Jimmer was looking for, but Nyx finds her completely fascinating and just can't keep his distance. All Nyx wants is acceptance. Some place to belong. The club gives him that, he can do this for Jimmer. Is he willing to risk it all for Ella? Ella who believes she’s the daughter of a judge. She’s the girl that looks like she has everything, but really has nothing. She’s a rule follower and doesn’t rock the boat to keep from drowning.
Reckless Soul was the perfect follow-up to Lost Soul. Ive been really excited to read Nyx’s story and it did not disappoint. Just like with Lost Soul, the character development was wonderful. I love Nyx, as the kinda stalkery, obsessed hero that he is. You definitely could feel his desire to belong and to be loved. Ella was super sweet, caring, and extra resilient. You can’t help but admire her for doing what she needed to do to survive. Nyx and Ella are definitely one of those couple’s that, on the surface, look like they shouldn’t fit, but end up being the perfect complement. While the story had no mind-blowing twists like the first, it still kept you on your toes, wondering how it all was going to play out. This series has been fantastic so far and I really can’t wait until the next installment!!
Reckless Soul is the second book in the Dirty Souls MC. Theoretically you could read it as a standalone, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Omigod, I am absolutely LOVING this series of dirty talking, sexy-as-sin bikers who are fiercely loyal to their club, and even more fiercely protective of those who matter to them, and God help anyone who gets in their way!🖤💀🏍
I have a huge book hangover after devouring Reckless Soul. I hardly stopped to come up for air, it was sooo good and Nyx...he can put his tattoo gun on me any day! *sighs*😍🔥 There’s so much I want to say about this book but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Just take it from me, you NEED this book in your life and I need the next instalment. NOW!!!!!!
Emma Creed has done it again, she has pulled off another amazing read that will have you gripped from start to finish.
Reckless Soul is Nyx's story and picks up where Lost Soul left off so if you haven’t read LS yet then I’d highly recommend doing so before reading RS, for a better understanding of the characters' back stories and, to avoid spoilers. It may not be the wild, emotional rollercoaster ride of Lost Soul but you're still in for one crazy ride, trust me. It's raw. It's gritty. It's intense, with some harrowing and gut-wrenching scenes. And it's HOT🔥🔥 I FLIPPIN' LOVED IT!!
It’s hard to believe that this is only the third book from this new author. The plot flows so effortlessly throughout with a fast pace that packs a mighty punch. The twists came out of nowhere and left me shouting out loud and my jaw dropping in shock. When my heart wasn’t in my mouth, with fear of where the plot would go, it was racing in suspense. For all the intensity of the story, the author still managed to inject enough light hearted banter into the plot which was quite funny and, much needed in some terrifyingly tense scenes.
I can't recommend Reckless Soul highly enough so... If you love an MC read that’s packed with suspense, violence, danger and have absolutely no trigger levels then buckle up, strap yourself down and prepare yourself for one helluva ride!
Nyx was completely captivated by Ella the moment Prez gave him the picture of her. He knew right then that she was going to be his. The biggest problem with that - daughters are off limits. Ella is the secret daughter of the Dirty Souls president. After losing Hayley, he wanted to know that his only remaining child was doing okay. That's where he decided Nyx could show his dedication to the club and finally become a fully patched member.
Nyx is sent to High School with the mission of getting close enough to Ella to learn things about her and her "father." However, every moment Nyx spends with Ella, he falls deeper in love with her. A cardinal sin given who her real father is. It doesn't stop Nyx though. Nyx feels immediately protective over her and becomes her shadow. He steps in to protect her at any chance that is presented to him. It doesn't take long for Ella and Nyx to realize that what they have, they can never let go of.
Reckless Soul was an absolutely stunning book. It was a wonderful continuation from Lost Soul. It gave joy, dread, sadness, anger - every emotion, honestly. We find out new information about the club and the twists and turns that happen throughout make it hard to put the book down. Just like Lost Soul, the end sets up for the next book within the series that I am absolutely looking forward to.
***Reckless Soul is book 2 in the Dirty Souls series. I recommend reading Lost Soul first. Know that some situations within both books will be a trigger for some.***
Emma Creed has done it again! Dirty Souls MC Book 2- Reckless Soul is the story of Nyx and Ella. He’s a prospect working on getting patched in, she’s Prez’s biggest secret. One more job and Nyx is as good as in, but will he be able to resist temptation? The kind of temptation certain to bring him death… or worse? This story had me on the edge of my seat, brought tears to my eyes, and made me smile so big my cheeks hurt. The passion in this story is on fire, and the angst is real. I love the dynamic between the characters. I have fallen for all the members of the Dirty Souls MC already… and this is only Book 2. The relationships and dialogue that they share is so real, it pulls you completely in. Yeah, my heart is completely devoted. While this is an interconnected standalone story, I HIGHLY recommend reading Lost Soul first- Jessie’s story. It will give you so much insight into the attitudes and heartbreak addressed throughout Nyx’s story. Trust me- you’ll be hooked- no regrets!
Okay imma come back in a few days because I dont want to give anything away but at the same time I really need to put across how sensational this book is.
Update. Emma did it again. Holy wow. Each and every book this lady puts out gets better and better like how? This book, honestly wow. Okay lemme take a minute to think because this book has consumed my whole day... if mum duties weren't a real thing I would have been finished hours ago 😆 What a rollercoaster ride it's been. So if you read book one you have a sense of what's going on here. but if not that's cool too, this could totally be read as a standalone 👌 This pair stole my heart from the very beginning. There was no doubt in my mind that I was rooting for them. Who wouldnt? The chemistry between them, off the charts, there was nothing that didn't work in their favour well except for that one big problem... Curve balls oh yet this book has them, heart break yep that too, mind f*ck *check* Can they defy the odds to get the ending they deserve? You'll just have to read it yourself to find out🥰😍
Hot damn! Yet again, an author makes me fall in love with a trope I usually avoid! Romances in a high school setting typically aren't my thing, but Nyx is the exception to the rule! My heart was doomed from the start. A damaged, bad-boy hero closed off with so much to prove. My kryptonite! An innocent heroine, oblivious to the secrets that have been kept from her all her life. Their story kept me on the edge of my seat and dying the entire time. The angst was killer! I both loved and feared it because I knew the hammer would drop eventually, and their worlds would come crashing down. There were so many surprises and unexpected moments. Jessie and Maddy...OMG, I love those two. I was in tears in some parts and stitches in others. This book could not have been more perfect.
OK. So. First things first, this book has a ridiculous 21 Jump Street plot and once the big reveal happens at the end it has unfathomable decisions made. There is no getting around how terribly plotted this is.
but... well, honestly, I still really enjoyed the book. I felt for both Nyx and Ella and I deliberately suspended disbelief about the undercover motorcycle gang member trying to pass as a high school kid among other really unbelievable other plot devices.
However, even if I could suspend disbelief, a really difficult hurdle for me is how British this is written for a book set in Colorado. It very much drops me out of the story over and over.
Nyx you and your Reckless Soul Broke and Warmed my Heart and Soul in this forbidden MC romance story! What can I say but Emma Creed has created a world of characters and storylines you will love wholeheartedly and get so lost in you will lose track of time and not come up for air until you have devoured every word from start to finish in one sitting. Reckless Soul is Nyx's and Ella's heartbreakingly beautiful journey to a HEA. It's a little dark, heartbreaking, gripping, sweet, steamy, suspenseful, and riddled with twists and turns that will leave you gasping in shock and surprise. The emotional journey had my Kindle heating up, and me feeling on edge, angry and frustrated, smiling, swooning, and shedding both happy and sad tears as my heart ached and warmed for Nyx and Ella. What a ride! My heart and emotions may have been put through the wringer but I loved every minute. And as I hit the dreaded end I was left with not only a warmed heart but excited, intrigued, and desperate to see what's to come for the members of The Dirty Souls MC . Bring on Book 3!!!!
FIVE DARK AND DIRTY STARS!!! This is one of those books you just can't put down. Emma Creed draws you in from the very first page. You'll become entranced with her words as they flow effortlessly throughout the pages. This storyline is dark. It's gripping. It's gritty and full of twists and turns you won't see coming. Emma's characters are so well written. Nyx and Ella just come to life. You're going to feel their pain. Their heartache. But you're going to feel the love too. Emma's going to take you to the edge, but don't worry. She'll bring you back again. Are you ready for the ride?
This is not your typical MC!!! Emma has done it again! I thought Jessie was gonna be hard to beat because of the emotional rollercoaster she took us on, but yet, she did it!! Nyx is everything you want him to be and more!! Can't wait for the next Dirty Soul <3
I am really loving the world Emma Creed is creating, and the way she gives us glimpses of other characters as we go. I love the other POVs she sprinkles in along the way.
There were really emotional moments, and the way EC doesn’t just tell you but she shows you is really powerful.
This one was heavy on the insta-love and we spent half the book in high school, which was just less appealing for me. Overall though, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book.
This is the 2nd book of the Dirty Souls MC series. Unlike the first book, this one didn't made me have huge crocodile tears pouring and that's ok because I don't think my heart could have handled it. In this book, I feel much more attached and attracted to the main male character, Nyx is definitly, for me, way sexier than Jessie, sorry! Definitely a really nicely written MC book (and I am usually not a fond of them unless if they are well written). There were definitely some really dark parts but overall, this one is much easier to read than Lost soul. Into the 3rd book I go
Wow second book in the series is more than I expected. It's not a copy paste story. This author knows how to tell a story. Again if you love darkness, mayhem and murder with a great HEA go for this book
Book 2 of Emma Creed’s Dirty Souls MC series brings us another wild ride with the gang we can’t help but love. When Prez sends Nyx back to High School to check in on the secret daughter nobody knows about, it can only go one way. That bad boy is gonna stroll in and turn everything upside down, from the hold the school bully has over everyone around him, to how the beautiful Ella decides to take matters into her own hands, and shape her own life.
Growing up in care, Nyx hasn’t had the best start. He’s spent his life on the defensive, working to earn his place and acceptance in the only place he’ll ever consider home - the Dirty Souls. This one job for Prez should give him the cut, and with it his place in that family. Instead, it’s going to challenge everything he thinks he’s ever wanted. High School allows Nyx to be the guy he never had the chance to be growing up, the chance to be the protector, to be the popular guy all the girls want, the guy who isnt looking over his shoulder every minute.
Ella isn't the rich girl we are expecting to meet. She doesn’t have the perfect life Prez and outsiders are expecting, and the secrets she keeps at home will drive Nyx’s need to protect her all the more, at any cost. In a prison of her own, we watch her strength grow, as she’ll fight and plot her own escape.
We get to indulge in some of our favourite characters, and I love that an author gets that need, and indulges us. Appearances from Jessie, Prez, Brax and the boys will give us all that fix we need until we hopefully get to read their story.
I thank Emma for not tearing my heart out this time round, I’m genuinely grateful. But that doesn’t mean Nyx’s story isn’t going to give you some major feels. I was just as invested in his story as Jessies, not wanting to put the damn book down, desperate to watch our beautiful bad boy falling hard.
As beautifully written as everything else she does, I’d read this woman's writing of a telephone directory! Good, honest writing, that makes me feel I’m right there with every character. And trust me, you’re all gonna wish you were in those sex scenes…. sweet baby jesus, girls we all need a Nyx in our bed!
She’s strictly off-limits, it just about makes Ella Jackson the most desirable creature fucking walking.
One job is all that stands in Nyx’s way of claiming his official cut and becoming a Dirty Soul.
The job is simple enough, but must remain secret and low-key after all not everyone can be trusted as the club found out.
Nyx will do anything to complete this task...even if that means going back to high school.
Spying on Ella Jackson, however, soon becomes more than just a job to Nyx and with each moment shared...the pull between them grows until the tiny voice of reason is gagged.
I’ve decided that one way or another I want to find out what his real story is. I know it’s not gonna be easy but I do like a challenge now and again.
Never a foot wrong, the model daughter and the perfect princess….trapped in a cage wanting to pull at her restraints that keep holding her back.
Under her fathers watchful eye, Ella knows how to keep the perfect carefree mask in place and keep up with appearances...because no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors after all.
When the new student arrives he calls Ella's inner rebellious streak that is coursing through her veins...just wanting to be unleashed...to hell with the consequences...
“Nyx, you are reckless. You act first and think later.”
“If that’s your definition, then you’re pretty reckless yourself.”
Oh my goodness! Ahh!!!
I absolutely LOVED this book! The story of Nyx & Ella is perfect for them, you can’t help but fall for these characters and get caught up in their story...because my my the twists and turns of events do leave you wanting more.
Finding out more about Nyx and his background which plays a big part throughout the main storyline of the series. Ella was the bombshell from the last book and you will be surprised by her character, as all it is not as it seems.
My very own hero, but instead of armor and a stead, he’s got ink and rides a motorcycle.
I love the intensely heated scenes, tenderness and care that have been written for each scene. And of course, meeting up with characters from the previous book...with one of the best group chapters that had me nearly in tears...laughing.
✨What a ride as always... I’m not even surprised that this author blew my mind yet again with her thrilling, suspenseful and sensual yet smutty writing. I was hooked from the very beginning and sucked into the story till I finished it. Still I’m left craving more of these dirty soul men.
✨Ever since meeting Nyx in the previous book, I was highly intrigued by his broody personality and desperately wanted his book especially after the teaser which left me salivating even more and after finishing, it was EVERYTHING I wanted. I absolutely fell in love with him. His broken past and the damage it did to him broke my heart and it totally worth it when he finally found the family he truly deserved and belonged. His love for Ella shone through the pages. He was so fucking protective of her and every time he stood up for her.... it was HOT.
✨Ella was just as perfect in every way. She was down to earth with a big heart and a strong backbone and also a reckless side which Nyx brought out in her quite well. Their chemistry was exquisite and I could feel the connection from the minute their eyes collided.
✨All I want to say is that this series just got a lot more enticing, exciting, deliciously dark and action packed. This author has a talent of drawing you in slowly with everything going smoothly while giving no hints to the danger and twists that is right around the corner. Just when you least except it, the darkness comes to the top and you are left stunned and mesmerised, at the edge of your seat. If that’s how you like your romance, then this series is worth reading and I highly recommend it. It has action, suspense, emotional, smutty and is unforgettable.
Now... I’m off to stalking Emma for the next book because I. Can’t. Wait. To. Get. My. Hands. On. It. ♥️
What a ride Reckless Soul takes you on! Sign me up for another one, please. Argh… I absolutely loved Nyx with his strong-willed ways, his lack of tolerance for bullies, his sexy manner, and dirty talk as well. However, it was his desire to belong to a family that first made me want to grab him up and take him home. Yes, he was a tad reckless and at those times I did want to give him a shake 😄 but he always had a reason. When he loved, he loved deeply and his love was strong.
Ella was a sweetheart who also captured my heart from the beginning and I was so hoping she and Nyx managed to get together. They had instant chemistry but more importantly, they wanted to know each other and knew they could trust in each other.
It was great being back in the world of the Dirty Souls MC in Colorado and catching up with the members, especially Jessie and Maddy. I loved the twists and turns in the story that really has you on the edge of your seat. One thing for sure is—never assume you might think you know what’s going to happen in these stories because even if you’ve guessed part of it, there’s always a lot more you haven’t, and the main reason for the extra half a star.
I look forward to reading about Brax in the next story, I am addicted to these exciting books and totally recommend them to everyone.
Ok, so I didn’t write a review for the first book in this series because I wanted to see if the little things that bothered me in the first book were fixed in the second book which prevented me from giving either a 5 star. First, I’ll comment on all the good stuff. The storyline and plot is amazing! The way the author makes you see the characters clearly in your head AND makes you feel for them, whether it’s a negative or positive feeling, is so very good. She is able to give each character a real personality, likes and dislikes, motivations, etc that it’s hard to not want to get to the end to see how it all pans out. Yeah, I’m diving right into Book 3 because it turns out that not only are the characters interesting, each main characters have had their own storyline, but there are a couple overarching storylines (may end up being one huge complicated, but satisfying). This series is not disappointing overall. Now for the parts that I found a little worrisome and only slightly irritating is because of how often it happens. These stories are set in Colorado and Utah mainly (so far), which means in the USA. There are SO many non-American terms and words used that it kinda throws me off a fluid reading of the book. You can clearly feel and know that the writer is not American (which is not a problem at all), due to the use of British based English rather than US English (i.e. rubbish, jumper, Oi, etc). The other thing is that there quite a few typos and grammatical issues for US English. I hope this doesn’t deter from reading this series because so far it has been a great ride, and I’m hoping the author reads my review and tucks this away for future books since it’s a wrap on this series. Grab the series, start with Book 1. That was a tough one because of some graphic scenarios (death mainly, but also unrequited love!) but it soooo makes that a great story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Emma Creed's Reckless Soul pulled me into the story quickly. Nyx is a prospect with the Dirty Souls MC. He is tasked by club prez to find out about Ella Jackson to watch over her and report back to him about her life. Ella Jackson is his daughter but that is a secret even she doesn't know. If he is successful, Nyx will earn his patch. Not so easy a job when Nyx falls in love with her the minute he sees her picture. Daughters are off limits.
Ella is a high school senior. Her life looks picture perfect but looks can be deceiving. Her house is full of abuse and she is bullied at school. Becoming a high school student Nyx's protective streak has him stepping in to help her.
Nyx is the protector. He takes his role very seriously. Growing up in the system he has never felt family. With the Lost Souls he found his family. The conflict he feels between respecting his family and the love he feels for Ella is palpable. The love just rolls off of him in such strong waves. When Nyx struggles I felt his anguish.
Ella starts off as almost a wallflower. She avoids conflict at all costs. It is great that her time with Nyx empowers her and she learns to fight back. She makes me proud by the end.
Reckless Soul is book 2 in the Lost Souls MC series. While it could be read without book 1, the story makes so much more sense as to the motivations of the characters if you do. This motorcycle club members are intense, violent and crass but I can't stop reading this series. The adventure of the story kept me reading. I read it all today. What's next?
Nyx keeps to himself; he knows the ways things are in foster homes and this one is no different. He keeps quiet and tries not to engage with the other kids in the house, but when he gets pushed too far, he can’t help but fight back. The only thing that gives him hope is the mysterious man that showed up one day and made his foster dad cower. Now he’s determined to find out who the man was and why he was protecting Nyx. The only thing he has to go on is the hooded skull on the back of the man’s vest. The path he’s on now will bring more danger to his life than living in foster homes did.
Ella Jackson is the daughter of a Federal judge, but her life is not close to what most think it is. Her whole life is about to take a turn that she may never be able to recover from. She’s just turned eighteen and is almost ready to graduate high school. The problem is that she’s a girl that tries to keep her head down and herself invisible, especially at school. Just because she comes from a prominent family does make her life golden or make her safe.
I enjoyed this book and the story, but I had an issue with the writing. The writing is a mixture of American English, British, and southern slang. While the story takes place in Colorado, it was hard to see the reasoning behind some of the wording used in the story and dialogue. I really like the story and characters and will read more, but I did have a real problem with some of the dialogue and words used. I give this book a 3.5-star review only because I could not wrap my mind around the use of the different wording used in the story.
Nyx seems to like some of the perks that come with the MC lifestyle. But there are jobs that need to be done too. Ella seems to be a slight introvert – depending on the situation. It’s understandable since there seems to be some bullying going on.
The author could have taken the easy route and made more of a big deal of the theme of bullying but I’m glad she didn’t. It was nice that the interactions between our main characters overshadowed that. If you have triggers, it is there and is important to what is going on in the story.
This story had me thinking of the television series 21 Jump Street. I could picture Nyx being a version of Johnny Depp. And that’s where the age-gap feeling would come in. But instead of the police like in Jump Street, this version revolves around an MC. Nyx is a tough guy with a big heart. Ella has a big heart but is in a bad situation not of her making.
It’s a story that slowly sucks you in. You want to find a good stopping point but there isn’t any. If you stop, you might miss something good. But depending on when you started the book you just may have to force yourself. The twists and turns with some steam is another reason to keep reading. It’s an addiction that I don’t want anyone to find a cure for. But now that this series is in my blood, I want to know how soon the next book will be in my hands.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is my fourth Emma Creed novel, and she has quickly become an auto-buy author for me! This one is a bodyguard-adjacent/forbidden/club Prez's secret daughter romance between the club prospect Nyx and the secret biological daughter of the club president, Ella.
If you are a fan of MC Romances but maybe found something like a Giana Darling to be a bit too flowery (I quite enjoy her writing, but I know that is a common complaint I hear about it from others); then you should give this series a try.
Emma Creed's writing is easy to follow but still exciting and unique. I love this world she's created, and the characters are interesting and very likable. These aren't necessarily insta-love but they're also not slow-burn romances by any means. I feel like it's fairly common in other MC romances or even mafia romances, for the romance to start fairly early on, and this would be right on par with that. Personally, that doesn't bother me because the story line is so fast paced and action packed, that it just makes sense for the romance to get a jump start.
I think I liked Nyx's story more than Jesse's from book 1, and from what I researched about the series...each book just gets better and better, so I'm excited to jump into book 3 now! The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star is because I thought the ending was wrapped up a little too easily. Other than that, I loved everything else about it and would highly recommend this novel as well as the entire series, if you love MC romances. You'll be thoroughly entertained!
💙🖤ℝ𝔼ℂ𝕂𝕃𝔼𝕊𝕊 𝕊𝕆𝕌𝕃 ℝ𝔼𝕍𝕀𝔼𝕎💙🖤 I should have learned from reading Emma Creed’s first two releases that I should wear my crash helmet, but stupid me, I forgot. And just like with her other books, she kicked my ass all over the place. In the best possible way. If you read Lost Soul you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you love Jessie like I do you’ll be thrilled at all the page time he and Maddy get in this second instalment. Anyway, back to Reckless Soul. This is Nyx’s story and from the prologue you can see why he’s such an amazing character. Still a Prospect for the Dirty Souls MC he’s been given an important job close to his Prez’s heart and if he’s successful, it could be his ticket in. However what he’s not counting on is 1) having to go back to high school and 2) the girl who smiles at him on his first day with the hazel eyes. Just like book 1, there’s violence and danger which some readers may not have the stomach for but there’s so much heat between Nyx and his love interest you can’t help but keep turning the pages to see how their story plays out. And believe me, it doesn’t go where you expect. I’m glad I know Emma Creed because as I got deeper into this twisty story she received many shouty WhatsApp messages. This story will leave you thrilled, enchanted, deeply in love, disgusted, furious, tearful and ultimately fist pumping the air. If I could, I’d give it as many stars as possible. Keep those Dirty Boys coming. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
