Lords of Illusion is the tenth book in HP Mallory’s Lily Harper series. Back in the Underground, Lily, Tallis, and Asterion and their group come upon information indicating Asterion’s true love, Ariadne is still alive. This revelation has a couple of people getting worked up as our love triangle may soon become a square. The feelings Lily has for Tallis and Asterion still simmer at the surface, only acting on those for Tallis. Asterion continues to have trouble watching Lily and Tallis together. Throw in a long-lost love of Asterion and Lily beings to wonder about her dream. The dream where she, Tallis, and Asterion performing the acts and ritual necessary to release Lily's powers.
Lily is a strong character, rolling with the hand she's been dealt. Her ability to stay level-headed (most of the time) while on a mission to save Ariadne from a demon prince’s harem show the excellence of her character. Tallis is a broody Scotsman but his feelings for Lily are quite evident and his presence has a soothing effect on Lily. Bill, Lily’s foul-mouthed guardian angel, is a hoot. His mishmash of the English language has me laughing out loud and shaking my head. Asterion is a fantastic character. He pines for Lily but even when the love for Tallis is evident, Asterion has her back and will defend her with his life. Each character is well-written and complex.

I may not have started at the beginning of the series, but I have been able to move through the pages and everything about the books I have read have fallen into place. The author does a wonderful job providing some details from previous events to aid in keeping the reader abreast with the story.

Welcome back to the Underground city and the ragtag group of heroes that are trying to come to terms with a prophecy . When Asterion finds out his love is still alive in the depths of a hellish prison . It won't be an easy feat but with the help of Wally Wordsmith . who is a sworn enemy of Tallis . Yeah things can only get better from then on right . You would think so but alas when Ariadne is found Lily wonders what would happen between her and Asterion and the prophecy of Tallis, her and Asterion and the love she has for both of them .
The gang is back and better then ever, they are getting more and more complex with each book. We really get to see Lily at a crossroads I feel in this book . Her love for the two men is special in a way that you can't describe . We see everyone starting to recognize her as the herald and wanting to help her with her mission . We also get to meet a couple of new characters Ariadne the long lost love of Asterion and Wally Wordsworth . Ariadne is sweet but has been through so much in her life . She is strong and understanding Wally Wordsworth is one of those you can't really trust but you kind of need to to get through the quest and to get out of the prison . There is so much fun snarky dialogue that goes on between Tallis and Wally . i can't believe how much these characters have grown through out this series and have actually become dear to my heart.

Asterion finds out his past love is alive after all this time, she will be the one to help them in their quest. Lily and the others have to find a way to find her. The person they have to go to, Tallis doesn't trust. Lily, her Aunt and the others go to meet this person. Lily discovers her true feelings for both men. She is also concerned about her vision and her magic.
This is just some of what happens, don't want to spoil the story going any further. This is a rollercoaster ride for all of them, especially Asterion. HP Mallory weaves a story that will just grab you from the start and you will not stop until the story is done. Highly recommend reading this story.

A love triangle gets even more complicated when Asteroin's first love resurfaces and needs their help. This group has been on quest after quest for so long. I love the addition of Lily's aunt. It would be nice for them to have some peace in sight. It will be interesting to see how the prophecy changes the relationships and I am sure it will. Bill remains the surprisingly steadfast group member who serves as the confidant and counselor one would expect from an angel. I read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another good book in the Lily series. I’m giving this a 4 because it took me awhile to be able to get into. For me, I was about 60% into the book when it picked up was amazing! As always, the cliff hanger at then end makes you want more now! I do enjoy this series and I am looking forward to the next book.

This was a well-written, entertaining story. It was action packed right from the start and I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series.

While I like the storyline, the spelling mistakes were distracting. I'm also not a fan of having so many different narrators - it was better when everything was just in Lily's perspective.

Loves once thought to be gone and dead turn out to be alive but trapped...add in new enemies, you know some of the things you've come to expect and love from Mallory. The action is packed and the emotions are flying in this installment. Don't miss this one!
