Highlander's Immoral Deal

Rate this book
There was only one rule: don't fall in love with each other...

Adriana Kentington has had no suitors and she knows very well why: her size that does not fit what society dictates. But when it comes to saving her family’s estate, there is nothing she’s not willing to do. Even if that means offering her soul to a fiend on a silver platter.

His rogue years are well behind him, yet nobody trusts the newly appointed Laird of Cord, Ragnall McAvoy. In order to inherit his father’s wealth and help his clan, he must first marry. So, when a woman he once knew comes looking desperately for a husband to save her family, he proposes a deal: get married, but not fall in love.

Struggling to stick to the deal and not give in to their feelings, Adriana and Ragnall fight not only each other but their own selves as well. But Ragnall’s past has remained dormant for too long. And now it’s ready to come back and claim what it rightfully owns: Ragnall.

Gripping and Suspenseful! I love when a book holds your attention right from the start and takes you on a heart-stopping journey as in Highlander's Immortal Deal. Maddie MacKenna weaves a story from beginning to end with threads of intrigue, deceit, and duplicity. It's an unforgettable Highland romance that brims with tension-building twists and turns, remarkable emotions, filled with characters with such depth and individuality that they come off the pages and will pull you into their tale, great dialogue and with one fantastic plot. With setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly. As all the pieces slowly start falling together that solve who is lurking in the shadows waiting to strike in this love story filled with drama, passion, betrayal and as the tensions escalates the suspense builds and uncertainties abound that will bring to light the evil that threatens Ragnall and Adriana's happiness.

An immoral deal turned to love

Adrianna and Ragnall were childhood playmates that were brought together by their fathers' friendship. Ragnall liked to pull on her curls and she would run after him. Then years later they make a deal to marry to have him inherit the Laird ship and get funds to save her home. It was not to involve love!
Only you know that a romance story never ends that way. Both realize their attraction to each other has turned into love. Both someone wants Adrianna dead. The story has danger for both of them, and of course romance.
This is the first book I have read by this author and will look for more. She has an easy writing style and her plot was well constructed.
Some of your author friends write extended epilogues. I don't feel they are necessary unless there is a new twist to the story that will lead into another book

The author created a steamy love story with interesting characters and an engaging plot, which accounts for my rapid read (not to mention lack of sleep!). Adrianna was a resilient woman, and I sympathized with her dedication to her family, even at the cost of her own self-interest. It was interesting to see how her own body image contributed to her lack of confidence, and her triumph over the more petite character of Penelope was satisfying to this reader! Ms. MacKenna always does an excellent job, so if a steamy Scottish romance piques your interest, I recommend this novel for a Highland romp!

Reginald and Adriana were friends since childhood. When either has a problem, they depend on each other for help. In later years, one finds that they must marry to save their family, and the other must marry to become Laird of their clan. So they meet and decide that they should marry each other, not for love, but to solve their problems. Will love come later, or are they setting themselves up for a terrible marriage? This story has an excellent plot and memorable characters. You won’t be disappointed.

Ragnall and Adrianna are an imperfect pair who are perfect for each other. Circumstances (no spoilers here) draw them together in a marriage of mutual convenience that soon becomes inconveniently so much more. Ultimately neither size nor trauma can divide this pair as they have found their soulmate in each other. I enjoyed their love story and their road to discovery of themselves. I particularly enjoyed that neither Ragnall nor Adrianna had mythical strength or a 12" waist. They were real, or as real as book heros can be. I highly recommend this book.

They played as children the Lairds business partners daughter and the lairds son

They thought of each other from time to time . When both were in trouble they went looking and found each other. Then they made a pact to marry without love . However, true love found a way despite betray, trouble and attempted murder. It is a great book!!

Adriana and Ragnall marry totally for convenience. She needs to save her fathers estate. He needs to wed to inherit the lairdship. Theirs is a rocky relationship pitted with dangers from within the castle and outside. A captivating tale that finds Adriana and Ragnall falling in love and fighting to preserve their happily ever after. You’re sure to enjoy this one.

Beautiful story

A very beautiful story to read. The characters were awesome! I was very happy that they wed knowing each other since childhood. The whole story was very well written. The plot was amazing. I had a sneaky suspicion about Penelope. Some people are just too cruel. Thanks for sharing your story.

Betrayed

This started out to be a marriage of convenience, but took on a more sinister plot as one is poisoned, and dark thing happens! A lot of planning went into writing this work!

Obligation and love

A delightful story of obligation to secure her family’s estate and his obligation to secure his status as Laird. Finding each other binding together in a marriage to help each other and no attachments, only to find their love for each other.

Very sweet love story. I love the characters! I was almost disappointed in the hero's character until he felt with the villain like he did then I was won. Will definitely be a go back to favorite of mine.

Ragnall's and Andianna's fathers were friends and business partners so the children got to play together often. Ragnall liked to pull her curls because they would spring back and she would chase him. It had been years since they had seen each other,

Ragnall has been told that he will not inherit his father's lairdship unless he marries!! Andianna has learned that her family will lose their home unless she can get the money to pay off the loan that her father had borrowed!! And how does a young woman get that kind of money except through marriage!!

Ragnall has a plan that will help both of them. They will marry and live as a happily married couple for a year, without love, Andrianna will get the money to pay off her father's debt and if there are no children. he will give her a divorce and she will be free to go wherever she wants.

Sounds so simple! Right!!

Feelings start to change and neither wants the other to know what they feel. Someone is lurking in the shadows wanting Andrianna gone or dead. Someone in the clan is out to cause Ragnall problems by "stirring the pot".

I am always happy to find a book that catches my interest from the very beginning to the very end and Highlander's Immoral Deal did just that. This is only the second book that I have read by this author and both have had such good story lines and characters that I can hardly wait for my next one.

Another wonderful story from Maddie MacKenna that is heartwarming and has delightful characters. Ragnall had to marry in order to become laird of his clan. He decides to wed his childhood friend Adriana, at least she will not crave the wealth and position of lady of the clan. After agreeing to his proposition things start to change for Adriana, will they have a happy ever after?

I loved this story. I thought this is going to get boring pretty soon, but it never did. Adriana jumps into marriage to save her family from getting kicked out of their home. Ragnall had his own reasons to hurry into marriage. Once they married, they had to get use to each other. Both trying to hide what they felt for the other. It was an agreement to marry that they both needed, but it became something more. In a way it is a simple story, but their situation and other things in the story kept me reading because of the interesting storyline. I could really see it happening back in those days. I really enjoyed reading it.
