What do you do when you discover centuries of your life have been taken from you? When you die in the midst of one war, only to wake up in the middle of a new one?
But more than that, how do you reconcile having lived two lives, each with their own memories, promises, and regrets without losing yourself?
Now, I’ve been irrevocably changed. I can’t simply go back to being Tessa, Titaness of Olympus, any more than I can go back to being Tessa Lynn Avery of Renville, Pennsylvania. Somehow, I have to be both.
With the help of family and friends, both new and old at my side, I'll gradually learn to be the Titaness I was born to be. But first I have to rescue my brother, and that’s easier said than done, when Olympus is faced with something far bigger than any had imagined.
Lucy is the author of the Tessa Avery series and the Half-Blood Rising series. She grew up “down the shore” in New Jersey, where her love of the mythological was born when her middle school English teacher introduced her to the Odyssey.
In her spare time, Lucy loves to read, cook, and go hiking with her husband and two daughters. Chaos is her debut novel.
This is the second book in the Tessa Avery series by Lucy Roy.
I am trying to remember where this book began and book one ended. Maybe it was right after Tessa realized she was a Titaness and the twin sister of Atlas. Not quite sure. This book is pretty epic and A LOT of stuff happens in this mega 480 page read.
It is very interesting and keeps your attention all the way through. Definitely enjoyed the ride even though it felt like it took forever to read. This is a pretty chunky one for me.

In this book Tessa struggles with fusing her two lives together. We continue to get both hers and Nates perspective on things, and I really enjoy that. It seems to me that Lucy Roy has put a lot of effort into building the characters, with individual personalities. It makes them very real to me.
I love Tessas and Nates relationship, but there are other relations that are more interesting, actually. Such as those between siblings, for example...
I didn't want this book to end, because I love spending time in this Olympic world, with all the gods! I sincerly hope that we don't have to wait too long until we can get our hands on the next book!
I received an ARC from the author, but that has not affected my review.
Wow, this book is slightly overwhelming - in a good way! I was looking forward to reading it, as the first book was amazing. It's quite an information overload and so much happens quickly, but mainly I found it so heavy on anguish, emotional distress, and sadness, that I had to read two more light hearted book inbetween! This didn't ruin the story, it just proves how well it's written...and how involved I got. Put it this way - I've been on a journey with these characters and I have no intention of abandoning them now. I will follow them to the next book and can't wait.
My review for this one is just one big WOW! Also fair warning …
🛑 Spoilers Ahead 🛑
I’m a sucker for a series, I think that’s clear, and while I loved Chaos (Book 1), Paradox has knocked it out of the park.
The character development of Tessa and Nate is fast and furious, but it feels right. The characters around them aren’t forgotten either, as they all grow together in the face of an all out war with Cronus.
There is an ever present fear though, even as Tessa comes into her powers and proves her skill, that she is too valuable - too much of a risk to leave on the playing field. Will they decide to send her back into Chaos, her will be damned?
As a reader, it keeps me on the edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop but also knowing that Tessa will kick butt and take names if anyone even tries.
Saving her brother, chasing down enemies, and dealing with a lifetime of memories - as well as falling in love with a very handsome, very supportive, and a little too powerful Nate, makes for one Hades of a ride (😂 see what I did there?).
The end of the book came much faster than I liked, mostly because that cliffhanger had me just 🤯 It got me so good, it hurt!
I needed a whole new cup of tea when I realised a favorite was gone, another’s life was in the balance, and a long-time friend was betraying them all. Ah, my heart, it’s broken!
I'm already reading Book 3, Entropy because I am desperate to know what happens next!

I really enjoy this series I’m a huge fan of books using the Greek gods as long as it’s written well and this is! We see Tessa dealing with he titaness memories and learning to build her walls while fighting off her brother and trying to stop her father being released form his cage! So many emotions and learning curve for her aswell as Nathaniel. They deal with all this when all the gods around them insist on interfering. Tessa is is strong character! The story just rolls over so well you find yourself reall screaming her in from the sideline! I only have to contend with normal brothers imagine have 1 ready to tourture and kill you, one locked himself in a cave blaming himself for your death and the twins treating you like China! Think I’d crack x

If you are looking for your next un-put-down-able series- THIS IS IT! I haven’t torn through a series this quickly since my first go at ACOTAR. Truly a magnificent story that ends with possibly the biggest twist Ive ever read. I promise, you will not be sorry you gave Lucy Roy a shot- her writing is just as sarcastic and humorous as it is brilliant. Bravo Lucy, bravo!
holy guacamole what can i say Lucy Roy you have done it again these books just keep getting better and better. I love the story line and how it is all about family and friends i just cant get enough of these charters. In this book we see Tessa face her passed when Hades makes her remember and we find out more about her life before she died and how her brothers would keep her locked away so know one would find out about her powers and her brothers didn't want train they though they could protect her that was until Hades came along and i didn't see that coming but l could just image what happen between them. I love how we find out about the Gods and the powers they have and also the dynamics of there family's and how they fight and argue between each other but still care about each other. i would infidelity recommend these books for people to read and i can wait for the next book to find out what happens to them all
A solid 3 stars. This is going to be hard, I tried, I really tried. I loved the first book in the series, greek myth is a favourite reading subject and I absolutely loved Chaos. This book does suffer from book 2 syndrome, a lot is happening yet at the same time not a lot is going on. In this book, we continue following Tessa and Nate. Tessa now remembering her life as a Titaness is beeing trained in her mental shielding by her ex, the main plot is to rescue Atlas and avoid beeing dream killed? The book ends on a cliffhanger, not at all exciting, I was left with a feeling of meh after finishing the book. I also feel the chemistry between Tessa and Nate sort of fell flat in this book... But kudos to the author for not putting in a love triangle, although she very well could have.
I hope this is just a small bump in the road and still look forward to the next instalment.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, my opinions are my own.
I loved it! I’ve had a reading slump for a while and this book definitely got me out of it. The tone of the book was a lot different.
Tessa definitely is not an unknowing Ischyra anymore. I love how this book is broadening the types of creatures and we are introduced to for example to sirens an empousa. We get to know a lot more about the family relations between all the gods. And I love the bond Tessa has with her brothers and how it develops along with the story. It does get more confusing to keep track of who is related to who. But the more you read the easier it gets.
My absolute new favorite character is Hades. Everything his character is and stands for is right up my ally. I can’t wait to see more of him!
The ending of the book was exactly what I needed it to be. I guess the only thing for me that was missing was some ruthlessness and it was exactly that.
Lucy Roy has done it again. I could NOT put the story away. Tessa, Nathaniel, and the whole pantheon of greek gods are gonna have to put their money where their mouths are.
Tessa is one of the most fascinating and relatable (as much as relating to a titaness goes) female characters I have ever read. She has a battle of wits, heart, and soul ahead, but everyone keeps making her out to be nothing more than a weapon or weakling. Boy do they have somethings to learn about our girl.
Lucy has created a world seated in reality and a culture so full of life that it's hard to remember that they aren't real. And listening to Tessa find her place among Ischyra, Gods, Titans, and most of all family is one of the most amazing reading experiences. The third installment of this legendary tale cannot hey here fast enough!
After finishing Chaos, I knew I could barely wait for Paradox to come out. Let me tell you, it does not disappoint!!! I absolutely loved Paradox and love the world that Lucy Roy has created. This series does such a wonderful job of building off of greek mythology. You may end up learning things about the Gods and Titans that you didn't know before, but be careful! You may end up thinking Tessa really was a part of the story! The fact that Lucy Roy so seamlessly writes Tessa into these stories is a testament to how great these books are. Seeing the bonds built in Chaos grow during this book was amazing. Familial bonds, friendships, and of course the connection between Tessa and Nate. You get to see Atlas and more about the impending war. Hades becomes a big presence in Paradox, as well. In typically Hades fashion, you love to hate him! I can't wait for book 3 to come out!
Once more, I very much enjoyed the ancient mythology mixed with a modern storyline.
I have to say though, that I found Nate a little boring (he’s too damn nice!) in the sequel, but perhaps I’m used to enjoying the hardened bad arses instead - Hades for example :) Tessa is growing on me more, but I still struggle a bit with her 18 year old immaturity, especially now ...
A nice blend of action, and character introduction (there’s so many Ancient Greek gods to wrap your head around so the gradual introduction to them all is a blessing) and growth/change. I’m looking forward to seeing what will hopefully be an action packed, explosive third novel in this series.
I’m so in love with this series and Tessa!! This is the second book in Tessa’s journey, and we continue to see her grow and overcome the challenges of having lived essentially two lives. She is now forced to reconcile both sets of memories and learn how to use her powers into to protect herself from her older brother who wants nothing more than to steal her powers. I did struggle a bit with Nate, he’s just too dang nice and I gravitate more towards alpha males.
Lucy Roy has created a detailed world in which the Gods and Titans exist among us. She effortlessly has worked Tessa into their stories and I can’t wait for book 3!
I decided to give book to a chance to see if the author would have progressed with story. I don't know how many times somebody can keep walking into the bedroom and interrupt in the scene. The whole helpless damsel in distress scene just isn't my cup of tea. And that is what I felt for Tess she just seemed weak and kept relying on her brother's her lover and her friends instead of being a strong independent warrior. If book 3 comes out I will not be reading it I'm sorry.
I loved this book! I love the characters, the story line, everything! I love the sibling connections between the Gods, and the complex relationships. I love learning about the Gods, their powers and their relationships with each other. I strongly recommend this book/series. It is so well written, and is such a page turner. I just cursed out loud when I realized I read the last page and have to wait for the next book! You will be hooked!!!
I really enjoyed the book, once more! The siblings' relationship and character development is really interesting, and even if I feel like he's a little too nice, Nate is quite adorable! Tessa's struggles with her newfound memories give her depth of character and humanity. Everybody is seeing her as either weak or just an instrument, but boy oh boy is she going to prove them wrong! Her individuality is what makes me come back to the series everytime. Definitely recommended!
This continuation of Chaos is amazing. Not that Tessa knows who she is she has to grow amd strengthen herself fornwhat she faces. With Nate and the other Gods by her side she'll lewrn where her strength lies. She must face her past to prepare for an uncertain future. I loved this book even more than the first amd cannot wait to see what the 3rd book has in store.
I could not wait for the second book and I was definitely not disappointed! There was so much to take in, but it all comes together. I am a huge fan of mythology and it being used in this way. Tessa is faced with keeping friendships, saving family and herself! And the ending….Oh Lucy...why do you do this to us?!
This continuation of Tessa’s story had everything you could want from a book. Lots of action, suspense, and love. I loved how personable the author made the gods and goddess... I will never think of them without attaching the personality she gave them. I truly can’t wait to see where the next story takes us. I received a free ARC of this book from the author and this is an honest review.
Somehow even better than the first! Lucy Roy does an incredible job of painting a unique world based on the old lores of Greek Mythology combined with new interpretations that keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t put the book down and finished in two days! Highly recommend!
Jump Back in! An Amazing story!! Tessa’s saga continues! I received a free copy of this book to write an honest review. The relationship Between Nate and Tessa wont disappoint. We are introduced to new characters one you love to hate or hate love!! Run not walk to get thrown back into Olympus!!
Wow! Just finished Paradox and I’m dying to get my hands on the third book. Lucy Roy has expanded our knowledge and experience in Tessa Avery’s colliding worlds. I felt absolutely submerged into Tessa’s life as if I was there as one of her friends. Loved it!!
Absolutely fantastic, I loved the first book, but the second has blown me away, I could not put this book down, and what an ending, you will not see it coming.
Loved this book! I think it’s even better then the first book, and that’s hard to believe, the first one ‘Chaos’ was also great! I highly recommend this series!
