The themes are very dark but also compelling. Our leading lady lost autonomy and become a catalyst for the end of the world. Once she regained controlled she worked hard for a chance at redemption. Now she walks a delicate line of preventing the tragedy of her past, hiding her union with the cursed sword, and finding a way to claim a life of her own. The stakes are pretty high and her emotional instability has supportive context making empathy easy even when she makes odd choices. The world building can seem like information dumps in the narrative but it is a strong start to an epic.
