Rate this book
He put a baby in my belly, and a chain around my neck.

Sal Faliero is not a good man. Cruel, vicious, and savage.
A mafia don who pulled me into his bed.

It was only supposed to be a one-time thing.
Until he put his baby in my belly.

I thought that would be the last time our paths ever cross.
I was wrong.
When he found out, he was determined to have me.

Own me.
Possess me.

He calls me his princess, but keeps me chained like his pet.
His to use.
His to control.
His to own.

Forever.

I didn’t like the flow. The dialogue was not my favourite and there was one mistake I couldn’t wrap my head around. April finds out she is pregnant when she’s 2 months along. Then we have a time jump of a year. How is the baby 10 months old? If she found out she was pregnant at 2 months, add 12 months of time jump, minus 7 months of the pregnancy, the baby should be 5 months not 10. That bothered me so much

This was a really fab read, definitely a great start to the new series.

So, firstly before I start there’s a couple of issues. Not massive issues, but still things that I feel the need to mention.

I’m not sure about others, but I found the blurb a little misleading. It made the book as a whole and Sal seem a lot darker than they actually was, by no means did I think, Sal was a monster.

A good person... no, he really wasn’t, but I doubt anyone in mafia is necessarily a “good” person. This didn’t make him a monster like the blurb first lead me to believe. He made bad choices to protect the people he loved and I can’t really fault him. (You will understand when you read the book, what I mean.)

Also, the person used in the cover of the book looked nothing like the person described. He seems a lot younger than mid thirties and he doesn’t sport any grey hair.

Again not really a dislike, more of an observation.

Regardless, this was a really enjoyable read and look forward to the next in the series. Good storyline & character development. Ends in a little cliffhanger & I feel like the second book we will see more action and plot development.

5 stars 🌟- I recommend to any mafia romance book lovers.

I usually enjoy this author, but this book was hard to read. It was very choppy and you couldn't connect with the characters. I like my leading ladies to have some bite and fight to them. April is a push over and got steam rolled the whole time. I just couldn't get invested in them or the relationship. Disappointing

Oof. Sorry, but it was just really, really bad. How all the events unfold don't make any sense whatsoever, it goes way too fast, April is just so meek and pathetic, and Sal has literally zero redeeming qualities.

Also, who gets locked up for two weeks straight, is deprived of seeing her son and is later like "aaawh boo, I don't hate you. It was kinda my own fault"? No, just no.

This book could have been so much better, but the main character the mob boss had no back bone even though he was suppose to be so strong. plot was never fully discussed. I just thought it could have been much better

Entertaining, mafia romance. Charming ahole Don Sal Faliero. Secret baby. Easy read though the writing was a little choppy and terribly repetitive. Literally the same phrase repeated throughout, same musings, same mafia threats. While thankfully not overly descriptive, tragically repetitive. Overlooking those, it held my attention pretty well.

Caged Princess is the first book in the Faliero Mafia Series about two mafia families at war by Brook Wilder. This is a dark, violent dangerous story filled with so much angst, passion and plenty of steamy moments between Sal and April. Sal Faliero is a dark, dangerous man who oozes sexy appeal, rules his family with an iron fist and kills without remorse. His only thought is to seek his personal vendetta on his enemy Nicolo Luccatoli who took his family away from him. On the opening night of his new club he has a one night stand with a beautiful young woman named April who decides to go wild for one night to get over her ex-fiancé cheating on her. This one act will change her and Sal's life and will be the beginning of a collision course between them when they come face to face a year later. April is sent to a client's office and finds that the man is Sal, at first he doesn't remember her but when they butt heads, April lashes out and tells him she was his first as his new club and that she was pregnant. Now Sal is about to make April his prisoner to keep her and his son safe from Nicolo. Sal won't open up to her and thinking using brute force will tame this woman. Now that Nicolo knows about her in order to keep both of them same he informs April they will be married. Through all of this drama and violence in Sal's life, as much as April says she hates him, the underlying passion and desire Sal brings out in her has her falling in love with him even though she is constantly defying him. When she learns the truth about the pain he endured, April starts to think twice about leaving him. Little by little Sal's feeling for April is growing and the more time he is with her, he is starting to love his wife. Will he be able to protect her when Nicolo threatens April to get to Sal? Will he lose another person he loves to this man? Now someone in his organization is betraying him by helping his enemy, will Sal discover who this person is before violence erupts around him? When April learns she is pregnant, she starts to take the advice from the one person Sal thought he could trust and agrees to allow this person to help her. Will she still try to escape this life for the sake of her children knowing she will destroy Sal by leaving? Once April makes her decision, will she put her faith and trust in the wrong person? she put her fate and trust in the wrong person? Will she end up in the hands of Sal's enemy? With all of the twists and turns in this dark violent romance story which leads up to a cliffhanger, we now have to wait for book 2 to learn the fate of April and Sal in this dark, chilling romance story.

This is the first book in the Faliero Mafia series and it is a page turner. April has dealt with many challenges and the final blow comes when she catches her fiancé cheating on her. In order to lift her mood, April’s best friend takes her to the opening of the hottest new club where she meets and has a one-night stand with a stranger. Her life will never be the same. Sal is the owner of the club and is taken with April but he is not the kind of man to have a relationship. Fast forward one year and the two are thrown back together and April drops a bit of news that has Sal reeling. This is one page turning, drama filled read. From the beginning, readers will be sucked in by the writing style and the tension of these two characters. I cannot wait for book two to see how far April will go.

It’s hard to tell if April is just a wimp or if Sal is just an incredibly horrible person, i think both. The author told us that April was 2 months pregnant and jumped ahead to a year(12 months) later where April’s son is 10 months.. how sway? I think this shows that if you can’t trust the author with little details how would we expect her to showcase the bigger picture. The book was a flop. why is this book so similar to the Nicole Fox’s Belluci Mafia series?

DNF:
I got to the 76% mark and I just had to stop. everything about it was just wrong to me. I did not like to way she was not allowed to do anything she was basically being used as a baby-making machine. Also the way he would just take away her son if she did not do what she said everything about that was wrong to me.

Book one was not one of my favorite mafia genre reads. It was okay but nothing that I hadn't read from other authors in this genre. It's characters and story line didn't captivate me. I am always looking for author's that take this genre into the 21st century and who are able to develop a story line that is just not blood and mayhem but who are brave enough to travel outside of the box of this genre. This genre has been written to death so any author who can find a different twist or who is successful in including a different component in the story and the characters is always applauded.

Sal's character was off-putting throughout most of book 1. He is the over-the-top thoughtless, demanding narcissist who thinks very little of other people; his son being the exception because he now has an heir to carry on the mafia tradition. He even considered killing April or stealing Drew away from her if she didn't submit to his demands. This is no love story with him never realizing she was the woman in red the night of his club opening until she blurts it out. His character has it's moments by books' end but not soon enough resulting in April fleeing Sal and the lifestyle she fears. The reader doesn't know if she is being played by Sal's adversary and the good doctor, or whether she and Drew are really gaining their freedom. My guess is that she is being played by the good doctor and is stepping into a trap.

I expected more from April's character. I like strong women character's who think and act on their feet, not women who are driven by their libido. Point at hand is when she blurts out in his office that she is the woman in red who got pregnant from their one night stand without ever researching who he is or what he does which leads to she and Drew's imprisonment. She's a paralegal by profession and yet her decision making throughout book one is one of an oversexed 16 year old girl vs., a grown woman. Sex is the primary attraction between she and Sal (it always is) which apparently short circuits her sense of survival throughout most of book one. She makes stupid mistakes in this book and ends up making a decision in the end that could end up with she and Drew playing into Sal's adversary resulting in their death. She is too easily manipulated and molded by those around her and Sal knows that her decision making is not often well thought out because he has used that against her in the past.

This book ends with her pregnant (birth control anyone?) and her questioning whether she wants her children to become hostages of Sal's lifestyle taking away their options to lead normal lives. It took an entire book for her to realize the lifestyle she is forcing her children into; yet she gets pregnant again with a man whose entire life is death, revenge, wealth and power. He's determined to force his children into the lifestyle that he has chosen for them whether they want it or not.

This is one of three books. I have found in the past that sometimes, as these books evolve, that the characters and story lines are redeemed by the end of the series. Time will tell.

This was a big nope for me. Quality was just lacking all around.

Plot Consistency
I can ignore spelling and grammar errors, but I draw the line at contradicting story elements. Example: The hero’s nephew’s name is Harry on one page, then Joseph for the rest of the book.

Heroine
Claims her son is the most important person to her, but continuously allows the hero to use him as leverage. Hero repeatedly locks her away from their son in order to punish her, and her response is basically “I can’t stay mad at you, I deserved it.” NO. If her son was her priority, she wouldn’t accept the hero keeping them apart.

Hero
Without a doubt, one of my least favorite mafia don heroes. He says that he’s the most powerful man in NY, yet his rival is destroying his businesses while remaining undetectable. Also, he basically throws fits when he doesn’t get his way.

Romance
SEX DOES NOT A RELATIONSHIP MAKE. My angry Yoda is coming out full force for this pathetic “romance”. The romance between the hero and heroine resembled that of a domestic abuse relationship. The hero treated the heroine horribly, and she forgave him and made excuses for his behavior. She allowed her attraction to him control her.

Cliffhanger
Heroine finally decides that her feelings for the hero aren’t as important as giving her children a life free of violence—this is after they basically healed their relationship—and pulls the biggest TSTL move she possibly can. We don’t know how it works out because it ends on a cliffhanger.

April catches her fiancée cheating on her. She is devistated and the wedding is off. Her best friend takes he out on the town to help cheer her up, she hooks up with the club owner who rescued her from a bad expierence in his club. They have a mind bending one night stand, or so she thought. She moves on only to find out that she is going to have his baby. She thought she would never see him again, but fate had other things in mind for her. A year later as a realtor she runs into him again when he is trying to buy a skyscraper. He doesn't recognize her but she does him and out of spite tells him all, including that he has a son with her. Big mistake!

His name is Sal Faliero, the don for one of the local mafia organizations who has no heir to continue in the family business, until now that is. Sal is at war with a rival mafia family, that killed his family. Sal swoops down on April and her son to protect them. By keeping them prisoners in his penthouse of protective care and sexual bliss. And that is where the story takes off. Pain, Punishment, Pleasures and Imprisonment for her and fatherly attention for her son. She wants her freedom and will do all she can to get it. . .. To say much more would be too revealing. Read the book you will like it.

This is book 1 in a 3 book series. And well worth the money. It is loaded with mafia activities, organized crime, violence, suspense and sexual situations only suited for adults. If you like mafia romance you will like this book.

I recieved a free copy of this book for an honest review.

Brook is starting Sal and April’s story off with a bang. I was totally captured at the beginning and could not put it down. I ended up staying up late, just to see what would happen next. Sal is a hot alphahole that I hated and loved. There were times that I wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to get his head out of his arse. April is strong willed woman who fights Sal at almost every turn. While I understand why Sal is doing what he does, he needs to communicate better and be more understanding with April. She has been thrown for a big loop and just doesn’t know what to do. This took me on quite a ride. The twists just made my jaw drop. The ending, wow! I need more and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Solid 3.5 stars!!!

Great concept but heroine way too easily forgiving. We switched quite quickly from enemies to lovers…so fast so that I had to go back and reread a few paragraphs it happened so swiftly! The story was good, kept my attention and only has me wanting to slap the heroine a little bit. Spoiler Alert*******************************************************************************************************
Why would she want to go out when he has repeatedly told her the reason is she is a target? Why would she want to put a moving target on her sons head? That part totally confuses me. Other than those few things? This book was a really good read! I’m debating if I’m starting book 2 or not, we shall see…

Overall I really liked this book. It started really strong then got a little murky for me but luckily finished strong. The characters were both great but towards the middle April just became a doormat. She was so feisty in the beginning that I was really pissed she didn't fight for herself more. She did redeem herself towards the end so it all worked out for me. Sal was a good alpha jerk and I love reading about them falling in love and growing a heart! The story line was interesting and I was captivated by it. It does have a cliffhanger ending so I'm anxiously awaiting book two.
Well written and entertaining. I would recommend!

He should know better!

This is book one of the Faliero Mafia series so be prepared for a cliffhanger ending. Sal and April had one night together and then parted ways. When she sees him again over a year later she drops a bomb on him when she tells him she had gotten pregnant and had his son after their encounter. Sal is a Mafia Don and in order to keep April and his son safe he forces her to become his wife and trapped her in his penthouse. Sal should know this is not the way to get cooperation from his new wife but he does not care and that may lead to April being reckless. I am looking forward to book two, Broken Queen.

Mob life

The intensity of this book.. Sal is caught up with being with revenge for his family. April doesn't understand what type of man he is and what he has on his plate due to him not opening up about his livelihood and his revenge for his family. April wants a traditional marriage like have kids and to live happily ever after but with Sal it might not be an option because of the lifestyle that he lives. This is a the very good dark romance book.Very detail definitely reading the 2nd one.

Action packed and drama filled,Sal is the Don for one of the Mafias in this town. He is ruthless, tough, has martial arts training, and can fight anyone if he so chooses. If he wants to get his point across. He opened anew club and April was there smokin hot in a new red dress, and Sal noticed her. This book is hot, sexy, and one of the best Mafia books that I have ever read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.

this book was not it. although it was easy to get through, i didn't like the writing style. and it wasn't like other mafia books, it felt meh. overall, i would not recommend reading this book. at all.
also, april was weak not a sassy badass who takes shit from no one, but according sal's pov, she is strong and all that. shes not; you cant just say she is when the evidence contradicts it. i love the main characters to be strong and sassy and a total badass, this didnt have it at all.

She’s such a wimp

So tired of her taking everything dished out with no backbone. Two weeks locked away from her son and she comes out forgiving him? Not believable. Otherwise I would like the story, and it seems she grows a little spine at the end. Still, I predict that will be a bad decision, but I’m going to read #2 with hope.

Plot was OK, but I feel like I need to continue reading this series to determine if I like the heroine. Not the usual strong heroines that I prefer, but hope the character grows in the next books in this series.

Plot wise, I like how the author showed the vulnerable side of a don, ie proof that the hero doesn't always win. Has a more realistic ring to it.

Great storyline and well contrived dialogue. This will keep your attention throughout with no sagging/slow moments. The only remaining question is what has transpired with the purchase of the building?
