World on Fire picks up where Magnificent Vibration left off: with the hapless Bobby Cotton and his beloved bride (and former nun), Alice, having unleashed a global pandemic that’s fast wiping out half the world’s population - and at God’s request.

Bobby guides a very pregnant Alice and a motley crew of survivors to the Holy Land, darting through the hazards of a world that has fallen to pieces in a way more thorough than any we have seen.

But Bobby’s newborn daughter is born with astonishing abilities, and she’s not alone. A miraculous Convergence is headed for Galilee, where the stakes include survival of the Earth as we know it and the human race.

By turns hilarious and deadly serious, World on Fire explores the fate of the Earth in an utterly original way.

Gave it a go even though my 16 year old self was satisfied with the ending on the first book, still wanted to know what happened after the end of Magnificent Vibration. Specially since the sequel was announced a few years ago.

Truth is. The experience was exhausting, listening to Rick Springfield gobbling his own story was mentally draining. Bobby presents no actual growth, this is kinda like listening to a Family Guy episode. It was fun as a teen, but growth is inevitable it’s part of what life is. Sequel took too long to be published in my opinion, definitely wouldn’t been different if the gap were to be shorter.

Overall, wouldn’t recommend. The first one works, sequel’s just way too much.

I'm so glad this story continued. I was really satisfied with the ending of Magnificent Vibration, and didn't even expect a sequel; but, I'm glad to know what happened next. I do wish Springfield hadn't taken lengths to make Horatio SO dumb in this one. I know he's average, but I found myself almost siding with the entities who mocked him! This novel didn't have the same charm as its predecessor, but it was still a really great story with a message about how much humans suck. I can totally get behind that. I wish our current global situation could turn out so well.

This was honestly my first audiobook ever (there's no print version) and I was skeptical. Rick Springfield read it himself and did a great job. I really enjoyed it--his writing is always funny. For the most part, I didn't find it hard to follow, which was a concern about an audio book. The book was interesting to read during the pandemic, because it's basically about the world falling apart. The characters and storyline were interesting and I liked how it ended, leaving room for a potential third in the series. Fingers crossed!

Wonderful sequel to the first book. Great to hear Rick Springfield narrate his own words. Horatio and Alice are back, and the world is bad shape. As "God" leads them to the Holy Land, they meet survivors from a Pandemic that was released and wiped out about half the planet! This strange combination of strangers became like a family as they travel together. Tio & Alice have a daughter along the way, and she tends to have some miraculous powers as she grows. One adventure after another as they travel along, just trying to survive. It becomes clear along the way that they're in constant danger, and the world is quickly falling apart. Can they survive? Will anyone save them?

First: I learned that I do not like to listen to a book I would rather read it myself. That being said listening to Mr. Springfield read to me was pleasant, really it was very pleasant.
Second: I laughed out loud multiple times, wanted to cry a few times and completely enjoyed the story. I find it to be relevant in many ways to what we are going currently through and hope that there is another segment in the future.

Unique and quirky humor. Springfield does a great job reading it and bringing the story to life.

Not everyone is cut out to read an audio book even if they wrote it. I have listened to many audio books read by the author and I couldn’t finish them because they were just not good readers. Rick Springfield is not one of those authors! To be clear, he performed this novel complete with sound effects! It was really well done, even better than the audio book of his fist novel Magnificent Vibration. Since this was done as an audio only Audible Original, I’m guessing that there was a bigger budget involved and because his usual production guru Matty Spindel wasn’t behind the knobs.

All that said it sure seemed like Rick was having fun, so you kinda have to have fun listening to him. Which is not to say that his message was lost in all that fun. Appropriate that this was written and released during an actual global pandemic.
