I enjoyed this book although it is not really written in the form taken by today's popular histories. While not stated on the outside, the book really only covers the naval aspects of the Narvik battle(s). However it does speak to issues related to integration of naval forces into an all forces battle (land, sea, air). I
t had few quotes from those that were there, the maps were tiny and there was little comment from the enemy side. At the same it in my opinion, it did not get bogged down in too much detail that I expect from a really "serious" history. It did not provide references for every thing that was said even though it was obvious that various vessel, unit and transmission logs as well as many other detailed papers had been scoured.
All this kept the book information intensive but still fairly readable. The last few pages provided some potentially valuable lessons learned which is always interesting when looking at later battles. I would certainly recommend it, especially for anybody interested in naval history of the Second World War.
