One extremely lucky catch and the moment just after changed my life.
I went from Mario, average college baseball player, to a Valley U hero.
All the attention, razzing from my teammates, and newfound fascination from the opposite sex, feels super weird.
Which is why Vanessa James’ disinterest is a welcome relief. She’s beautiful and daring and she makes me want to prove that I’m more than that one moment.
Winning her over will take as much effort as I give on the field, but when I do – she’ll be the greatest catch of my life.
This is an adorable novella that readers get when they sign up for the author's newsletter (https://rebeccajenshak.com/). I really enjoyed getting Mario and Vanessa's story. I was curious about these two when we got a glimpse of them in book 1, The Assist. Mario is awesome and I enjoyed watching his relentless pursuit of Vanessa. I do enjoy Rebecca Jenshak's books and would definitely recommend them!
This was a cute little story that give a little back story of the relationship between these two people before the first book . I love the beginning of the book like she put him in his place and I think it was funny too. I love how he did things the old fashioned way to get to know her and started dating her. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these two and the other characters in the books.
So short, I need more of Mario🤧😭 even tho I read pieces of this couple during the whole series I still want to read more about them, they deserve a whole book, they are just so cute and perfect and Mario is so dreamy🥰🥰🥰 it was a cute and funny read and I loved it.
After reading the Smart Jocks series, I realized that Mario and Vanessa's story got the whole series started and I had to read it! They are such an adorable couple and I really enjoyed this glimpse at how they got together.
“But good things happen when you least expect it.”
greening giggling smirking wheezing throwing up
The Catch should have been one of the main books rather than a novella if compared to the final book, The Pass, which I just read.
This was a sweet little story that provided some background information on the two characters' relationship prior to the first book. And I relished every moment. But it's really unfortunate that this one is only a novella. 😫 I need more of Mario and Vanessa's banter. Although I only read bits and pieces about this pair over the entire series, I still want to read more about them since they are so adorable and so perfect that they need a full book dammit!
I adore how patient and persistent Mario to woo and win Vanessa. I also admire the way Vanessa is not easily trusting and let her guard down. They're so perfect together, I can't stand it arghhhh. Miss Ma'am Rebecca Jenshak, why don't you make this one as a primary book!?! I'm so furiously mad!!! 😠😭
I got this novella when I subscribed for the newsletter and I'll tell you, all it did was sink me in further into my newfound Rebecca Jenshak author crush 😅
It's a super fast read, adorable characters; one actual good guy, one feisty Vanessa and a handful of loveable side characters.
Plus, baseball pants. You can never go wrong with baseball pants.
I'm a baseball girl at heart so I'd like to see this series branch out - although I believe the rest of the series focusses on the basketball team, which I'm also fine with.
Cute little novella/prequel. I loved the characters in it and was hoping for Blair to have her own book, as well as Travis because they're my favorites next to Vanessa and Mario. I think this book is a lovely way to start a new series and I can't wait to see what Rebecca has in store for me with this series. This book was an easy and fast read, which was exactly what I needed right now. Loved every second of reading it.
Such a good novella. I really wanted to read V and Mario's story and this was super cute and sweet. It was lighthearted and fun and I really liked how Mario was completely determined to win Vanessa over.
I always love books where the guy is a good person and is a complete goner over the girl. Plus I really liked how involved the baseball guys and the sorority girls were. I actually wish this was a little longer to see more backstory and depth but I still loved it.
A short cute story on two characters from the series I get from reading a bit of a review. Vanessa is Blair's best friend and sorority sister. Mario is a baseball player who meets and mistakes Vanessa as his date and he ends up thinking about her all the time. I liked it. I think I got this from signing up for her newsletter I'm not sure or through her website. Anyways I received a copy and read it through BookFunnel.
A little enjoyable prequel to the start of the smart jock series. Nothing spicy or too steamy but just enough to make you root for the romance these two characters have going on. They have a nice little meet cute that's different to others I've read but sets the tone for their story and V's character.
Cute novella about Vanessa and Mario. Vanessa is Blair's best friend from The Assist (Book 1) so it was nice to have a glimpse on how Mario and her got together. There is plenty of longing and banter, and Vanessa has a lot of sass and self-confidence. Overall, easy to read and a nice addition to the series.
This was just a cute and super quick read! I have read all the books around this couple and figured it was finally time to start it! I loved Mario and V in all the other stories and this didn't dissapoint!
Vanessa, a cheeky straight talker of a girl, get swooped off her feet by a hockey player. She fights the temptation but when love strikes, it does strike.
I really enjoyed the characters, but felt the story was lacking, even for a novella. I was also hoping for more spice. Overall I'm happy I read it though because I do love Mario and V.
