지금도 어린, 어린 왕자
지금까지 전 세계에서 가장 많이 팔린 역사상 최고의 베스트셀러는 무엇일까? 성경이다. 그렇다면 두 번째로 많이 팔린 책은 무엇일까? 바로 어른을 위한 영원한 동화, <어린왕자>다. 실제 조종사 출신인 작가 생텍쥐페리가 직접 삽화를 그리고 써 1943년 출간된 <어린왕자>는 짧고 아름다운 이야기에 삶과 사랑, 우정, 소중한 가치에 대한 깊은 철학을 담아내 '어른들을 위한 동화'의 시초이자 대명사가 되었다.
보아 뱀과 모자, 사막에서 우연히 만난 신비로운 소년 어린 왕자, 어린 왕자가 살았던 행성, 어린 왕자가 사랑한 장미와 어린 왕자의 친구 여우, 그리고 어린 왕자가 다양한 소행성에서 만난 인간군상에 대한 은유는 오랜 시간이 지나도 늘 새롭게 해석되며 여전히 그 깊이를 더하고 있다.

귀엽고 순수하지만 그래서 더 당돌하고 쿨하고 때로는 까칠하기까지 한 이 2019년판 어린왕자는 사막에서 우연히 만난, 어딘가 이해되지 않는 비행사 아저씨를 관찰하고 함께 시간을 보내며 그와 대화를 나눈다. 그리고 다시 한 번 어리석은 어른들의 세상과 지금 이 시대, 이 순간을 살아가는 '어른이'들의 마음을 때로는 놀리고, 때로는 비판하고, 때로는 다독이며 우리가 놓친 삶의 진실을 발견하도록 이끈다.

English translation of the title: "Still young, the little Prince"
어른들은 바쁘다는 이유로,
더 중요한 건 더 잘 잊어버리고
더 소중한 건 더 잘 보지 못하니까
Adults, because they are busy,
forget easier what is more important
and can't really see what is more valuable
The Little Prince is a world bestseller still loved by many, internationally well known. This edition is a re-telling of this well-known story from the view of the little prince to the grown-ups. The book is published in full color, in high quality, with cute, colorful illustrations which I really liked. It was like a children's book with a story for adults.
Even though I liked the design, I didn't really like the narrative style of the book, the little prince being instructive and reproachful all the time. (I mean he is annoying in his original story at some point but well...) Anyway, the point of the book is well perceived and it should provide some outlook and consolation to those, who are tired of the busy life. Fans of "The Little Prince" will certainly love this book.
