Blood in the Water, the third installment of Blood Vice is an awesome addition to the series. It has all the things I love about Roquet's writing: campy humor, wonderfully lovable characters, tension, suspense and some great kissing.
If you're a fan of urban fantasy giants like early Anita Blake novels and Chloe Neill and want to find some new vampires worth cuddling up to, you should definitely check this series out. I promise you won't be disappointed. The writing was clean, fresh, and impressive. I guarantee that if you read this, you'll immediately be preordering #4 - Blood Dolls - just like I did.

The Blood Vice series is a fantatic cozy mystery series that just so happens to be centered around a woman turned into a vampire. After a successful-ish case, Jenna Skye is transported to the Bat Cave where she begins training to be a Blood Vice member. It proves to be a pretty awful experience as it is a boot camp but the rich kids have special privileges. I felt this one could have been better but was still a lot of fun. Basically, I don't think the Mean Girls would be accepted in Blood Vice to begin with.

Jenna finally gets what she wants. Her and her friends are headed to boot camp. Of course there is lots of drama since Jenna isn’t affiliated with any house. Blood in the Water gives us some answers, plus a lot more questions in vampire hierarchy. Lots of shockers come to light and make me want more!

I read a previous series by this author that I loved. I'm normally not a fan of serious vampire stories. Vampires aren't something I enjoy in primary characters until they're funny--usually. However, I love Angela Roquet's writing style. I think I would read anything she writes. I have enjoyed every book in this new series.

Things are really heating up in the is series with "Blood in the Water." This time Jenna Skye is enrolled in the Blood Vice program in Denver with other recruits. This twelve week program is not about making friends or camaraderie. These status conscious heathens are out for self and blood (other people's blood that is). They have decided that Jenna is the target for their hazing and cruel jokes.
Jenna is not the only ones that are at the training facility. Collins and Mandy have joined her and Mandy has actually found acceptance among her werewolf peers. On the other hand Collins is not faring any better than Jenna. Yet, they are all determined to make it.
While doing research at the library Jenna stumbles upon all kinds of secrets including one that links her to Roman Knight. Additionally, it soon becomes clear that second is targeting the royalist and Jenna may be the only one who can stop them.
So far, "Water in the Blood" is the best book in this series. There was plenty of action, mystery and intrigue. It was good to finally read about Mandy having a sense of belonging for a change. I also enjoyed the surprise at the end regarding Vin as well. I can't wait for book four to be released.

Vincent and Roman are left behind and communication between them is rare. So, more than the previous books in the series, this time it is all about Skye.
Skye has her secrets and needs to stay under the radar if she is to survive. But a number of her fellow students are determined to make her flunk out. Their plotting brings more attention to Skye than she would like and she spends a lot of time in the library researching vampire laws and society.
Then one of the students is murdered in the library while the other students, except Skye, are on leave off-base.
The Duke of House Lillith conducts the investigation personally but it remains unsolved until the night of the queen's All Hallows Ball. All hell breaks loose.
"Blood in the Water" was a fun read but somewhat lacking in tension - the last quarter picked up the pace a lot.

I wish I could explain how this book series is RIGHT ON THE CUSP OF BEING GOOD.
And it pisses me off.
Like, this book has so much promise. Decent writing, great tropes, amazing characters and snark, even decent emotional depth! BUT SOMEHOW IT FALLS FLAT EVERY SINGLE TIME. I don't know if she was told to kill too many darlings and removed the sole from the book or got tired of writing it half way through and said "oh I know, I'll just remove the second half of almost all of my sentences."
Like, storylines that I was looking forward to are dropped randomly and suddenly with a "this is all that happened in the last three weeks" therefore taking away any emotional impact or true climax.
This series could be SO MUCH BETTER BUT NO. ARg.

Another thoroughly enjoyable read in the Blood Vice series by Angela Roquet.
I really appreciate the way Roquet often avoids the lazy, obvious route with her characters, worldbuilding, and plotting. Characters made choices that felt refreshing in an often trite, overly idealistic genre. Stereotypes that often grate on me were avoided. Some of the details about how the supernatural world works were unique and clever.
As with the previous books in the series, Blood in the Water is short, fast-paced, and funny. I'm really glad I found this series. It's been a while since I've read a classic urban fantasy series that I truly enjoyed.

Jenna Mandy and Collins go to boot camp
This is a really interesting and involved story. Jenny's quest to find her purpose in life (really her afterlife) has taken her down a particularly dark path. She becomes a cadet in Blood Vice, a vampire and supernatural police force, and has to get in the educational fast track of she wants to survive the back biting treachery of boot camp.
Angela Croquet has another well written series on her hands. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Super book 3. No holding back with this one.
Jenna is still going strong, even though sometimes it seems like everyone wants her to fail. Getting into the Blood Vice boot camp wasn't too hard, but staying in? That is tough! The pace is breakneck, the tone is intense, the storyline is action oriented with some character development and no steamy scenes and the characters are vivid and make you root for them. I am looking forward to reading the next few books in this series. Enjoy!

A vampling
The bat cave well it is kinda what I expected I kept remembering what Roman at told me don't make friends I had already made an enemy when the rest came in I new this wasn't going to be a walk in the park but I was determined I woke in a puddle of water no I was locked on a coffin I'm going to die I yelled bashed on the walls tried to kick my feet into it but it didn't budge then all of a sudden the water was going I realised it was open I rolled out splattering that was just the beginning

Very good
Very good read.
The story is well told and I really like the fact that Jenna is having a hard time transitioning from human to vampire. Her struggle is something new which I had not before read.
She stumbles and needs to make serious efforts to stay out of trouble because of her ignorance; definitely refreshing.
I am looking forward to the next book.

This third book still gives me the teen maturity level feel for Jenna. She went from being concerned about Vin's feelings to a barely mentioned dumping. Her choice for a gift from the Queen made no sense in relation to Jenna's not liking to be told what to do personality. I still have not seen anything that makes me see Jenna as a trained police detective or an adult.

Really enjoyed it! I read through this series so fast, trying to find out what happens next. It's easy reading with exciting twists. Good characters and storyline.

Spoofy, quirky and a fun read. I love the attitude of our leading female character. I know there are more stories in this series so look forward to having them put on Audible.

Jenna has come to Blood Vice training camp. She’s a new vampire with no sire. She doesn’t know the rules or the history. No one there understands why she was invited in the first place. She has enemies! But she spent 10 human years as a police officer. She can do this.

This third book gets very interesting plot, gets very interesting and Jenna and the crew are in for a rude awakening at the academy. There are secrets to learn and stamina to build, while keeping the competition at arms length for survival.

Jenna and her blood harem head to get training so they can join the Blood Vice legal agency. Jenna is being bullied by some of the other trainees because she knows so little about vampire life and society. Murder is still happening and she is caught up in the events.

I’m not sure what it is, but I didn’t particularly enjoy the first three books in this series. In fact, I only read the second and third books because they were in an omnibus. They were, however, better than the first books, but not enough to make me want to read the rest of the series.
