Dana Lee has a background that combines book editing and movie making, a fascination with unique characters, and a deep love of storytelling. She is a big fan of both country music and running, especially Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Usain Bolt and Allyson Felix. The Pretty Lady and the Cowboy is her first novel.
After years and training and reading butt loads of manhwa/manga I have transcended the usual fangirl's state of thirst and permanently entered the state of apathy.
The ikemen face shall not affect me and thy six-pack holds no power here.
It's been a long journey but finally, i've reached enlightment, my friend.
. . .
On with the story...
Welcome to a stereotypical life of a another reincarnated lady, people.
This time the main character, Nina, finds herself in a very shitty TL novel. I mean imagine the worst. One minute you are about to have a serious surgery, decide to read a smutty novel to pass time and them BAM during the surgery you die and find yourself in the said novel as an extra who dies.In the novel the king constantly HARRASSES a SAINT, who is the main character of the novel, at night. He goes as far as getting her maid (aka Nina) who comforts her killed and yet she turns to HIM for solace. And they just fall in love after a steamy night.
Oh did I mention, how the maid was bought as a children to become a poison taster for the Saintress who has this hugeeee healing powers but still uses a taster?
And Cathedral sells Orphanage childrens as slaves and everyone acts like its totally normal? Yup, evil isekai religious cathedral here we go again.
As you can see, a very trashy story.
RANT AHEAD.
I mean, this like a typical Chinese manga but I can't even understand how she fall in love with him like... What kind of Saintess buys children to become a poison taster and then falls in love with the killer who killed a innocent girl? i don't get it man.. how come serously.... like how?????
The ML is a blatant sociopath and FL only likes him through Stockholm Syndrome. That was seriously a shitty novel you read lol.
Anyway, the story starts with main character being bought from the orphanage and little by little story starts to change thanks to the FL actually using her brain. More mangas, manhwas etc should have fls like this who use their own intellect or strength to survive and not just depend on mls (hoping that won't happen here).
I love this story already. I mean there are so many routes the story could go. On top of it, palace intrigue and fl using her intellect to survive just mwaaah. So far only 8 chapters are out, there is also a novel version. I dont know how to feel about the king who ise obviously the male lead here but at least he doesnt seems to be a blatant sociopath the novel claimed him to be so yay I guess?
He seems kinda...nice? I dunno.
Will be keeping a very close watch on this one!
THE ART This scene here make it looks like father, daughter and mother sleeping in the same bed lol.
If this manhwa had kept its original storyline (where nothing makes sense - nothing!! Why did the saint buy a child as a taste taster?) our female protagonist Nina read and keeps talking about, would that have been one shitty telenovela from my childhood or a PTSD victim turned Stockholm syndrome romance. Yes, that is how I see telenovelas and soap operas - Stockholm syndrome romance and abuse turns to love.
Thanks to Nina changing the story, this no longer feels that way. I do believe there is only one male lead and the rest are just red herrings in the first season. It has a comical side to the intense survival mode the maid has to go through. It was a bit different to the others I have read but to an extent only. Hopefully is season two, some time as in years have passed but we also get to explore Nina's background, as well as that of others (the king we know, he explained and there is no further use for him to explain more...). I also wish for a more detailed and interesting plot as this right now feels a bit simplistic.
the girl looks too small and her age is I believe 8 years younger than the ML?
I mean I've seen romances with this type of gap before and have supported it, but the fact that she looks like a middle schooler and is supposed to be young doesn't sit right with me
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I honestly kin nina a lot so I can self insert myself in her and I love that,I feel like the story is well planned...I'm just not completely comfortable with the age gap, aside from that all the bonding scenes have been really cute.
