USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves red wine and chocolate, and in her free time, she likes to read, take pictures, and spend time with her family.
Third Time’s a Ghost (Haunted Ever After Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen 4 Stars
This is a fun, ghostly romance. It is the third installment in this series and probably my favourite. Ms. Pulkinen knows how to pull in her readers with lovable characters and a story that is intriguing. This book has some added mystery and danger. Erica has always been psychic. She’s hidden her talent her whole life. She inherits a theatre that has a few ghosts attached to it. She recently bumped into her old high school friend Gage Dawson and realized that he grew into a very handsome man. Gage has always been in love with Erica but never had the guts to tell her. Meeting her again has given him a second chance. Unfortunately he has never had any luck with girls and is nervous that it won’t work out. Since Gage has already investigated the theatre before, he knows about the ghosts that live there. Yet stranger things are starting to occur with Erica and Gage is worried. An obvious lack of communication between the two puts Erica in harm’s way. They will need to work together to stay alive.
I enjoyed the fact that Gage got his own book. He has always been a secondary character in this series and I think he deserved his own story. With Erica and Gage’s back story, it made their romance even more meaningful. I loved the fact that Gage was able to see past her scars and love her for her. This book was a great addition to this series.
Third Time’s A Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance is the third book in the Haunted Ever After series by Carrie Pulkinen. As expected, this is another fun paranormal romance from Ms. Pulkinen- packed plenty of the paranormal, ghosts, danger, romance, chemistry, steamy encounters, mystery, intrigue, and more. I was intrigued by Gabe from the moment we met him back in book one- being a friend of Allison’s, and fellow ‘ghostbuster’. So, finding that he get’s his own story here was a bit of a bonus for me- and as I soon discovered, there is more to him than just his paranormal investigator and IT specialist tag. Add Erica and the whole ‘haunted theatre’ developments- and things get very intriguing in a heck of a hurry. This story is every bit as good as the other two books, making it hard for me to choose a favourite from the three. It could be read as a standalone, as each book in the series focuses on a different couple, but having said that, I really do recommend reading the first two books before beginning on this one, as there are recurring characters to meet- as well as two other fantastic stories that you would miss out on otherwise. Highly recommended for all paranormal romance lovers!
Third Time's a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3) by Carrie Pulkinen is a fun paranormal rom com mystery thriller (try saying that drunk). I am in love with this series as it is nonsensical and has just the right amount of sizzle. Carrie knows just how to draw in her audience with her fantastic writing and characters that are well developed, quirky and lovable. It’s easy to get lost in the paranormal world that she creates as she always gives us a little something extra. It is great entertainment.
Trent inherits a house from his surly ungrateful great uncle. After visiting the house he decides that he needs to say goodbye to it ASAP which brings him face to face with the temptress.
Tina agrees to help Trent sell the house but it soon it becomes apparent that the house comes with a little something more.
Unfortunately, this is the last book in this series, but I look forward to the next ghostly feel good tale from Miss Carrie.
Third Time’s a Ghost (Haunted Ever After Book 3) By Carrie Pulkinen 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Third Time’s a Ghost (Haunted Ever After Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen. It is a story that pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved the characters of Gage Dawson and Erica Miller. They are well-developed characters that I enjoyed. I loved the bantering back and forth between all of the characters. The author does an amazing job of making the storyline and the characters come alive. This is a comedy with a ghostly plot. I enjoyed that characters from other books in the series are in this one as well. This story had me laughing and turning pages to find out what happens next. Don’t miss out on the next exciting and entertaining book in this series. I highly recommend reading it.
Third Times a Ghost by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that makes a show of it. This is the third story in the Haunted ever after series but they could all be read as stand alone, they each focus on different main characters but follow a theme and previous characters do pop up now and again. Erica was so good, she really does just come across so well, I couldn’t help but like her and Gage who just made me smile, the pair together was funny and you cant help but hope they get their happy ever after, even when everything seems against them.
What a cute book!!! Carrying the essence of a friends-to-lover’s romance as well as a mystery, the story is in-depth. The characters are well depicted and represented. The author does an amazing job of being as descriptive as possible, making the reader feel that they are there watching the story unfold. This series is a must read for light hearted paranormal romance fans.
I really enjoyed this book the series does keep getting better. I loved this friend to lovers romance. At times I thought Erica was really selfish the amount of times she let Gage down but other than that I really liked her. I really enjoyed the writing and I love the worlds that Carrie creates. I can't wait to read more from her.
**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**
Best friends reconnect while a ghost stirs up trouble.
The last thing Gage expects is to find the woman who used to be his best friend is working in the same building as him. After she disappeared to Hollywood with her boyfriend after high school, Gage hasn't seen her since. Now, she's back and he wonders if this is his chance to finally make the move he should have made years ago, before she walked out of his life and took his heart with her.
Erica's life isn't going according to her plan. She's running a theater she never intended to own and now there's another ghost hanging around her apartment, asking for help she can't give. The only highlight of her week is reconnecting with her best friend. Gage is still the same sweet guy, but now it's impossible for her to ignore her attraction to him. But just as the two start to become reacquainted, a ghost from her past comes into play and doesn't intend to play fair.
This series has been a fun ride so far. We've had ghosts aplenty and demons to contend with. Couples who were strangers and now a pair who were teenage best friends. There is a nice variety of both paranormal elements and romance blossoming in each book. And I love how different every story is. Each couple has their own feel to them as well. Overall, I highly recommend this series.
For this book, we have Gage and Erica, plus a few ghosts butting in here and there. I think the romance outshines the paranormal angle in this one. But I didn't mind that because the pair were great to read about. Gage was his usual sweet self and I think he might even be my favorite guy of the three. He reminded me a lot of my own husband who was just as terrible at the whole 'dating' thing. And my hubby called his sister for advice too! Haha!
The supernatural element was a little tamer here than the first two books. A quarter into the book and I was thinking things were going a little too smoothly for our couple. I started wondering where the paranormal struggle would play in because there always is one. And when it came around, oh boy. It really shook things up. I won't give away what it is, though. You'll just have to read it to find out.
I think the highlight of the book, for me, was the romance between our pair. It's a friends-to-lovers story, but also a sort-of second chance theme too. The two are intimate early and often and I ate it all up. This author always does a great job at writing the love scenes. It never gets repetitive or boring. There is emotional growth from one encounter to the next. It's definitely one of this writer's strengths.
In closing... I don't know if there is more to come in this series or not, but I sure hope so! Five ghostly suns!
I love romances involving geeky gals or guys who grow up to be geeky beauties or hunks and end up with great matches. It’s probably the geeky gal still in me decades after my own version of the gal (though sadly minus the stunning beauty part ... at least to those not still blind like my hubby). I also love paranormal fiction. So along comes Carrie Pulkinen with a wonderful book, To Free a Phantom (third in her Spirit Chasers series) that combines both of these. Even if I hadn’t already read and totally enjoyed the prior two books in this series I would not have been able to withstand this. Good thing too, because the romance between “paranormal investigator and IT genius” Gage Dawson, the former geek now a hunk but still lousy at dates, and psychic medium Erica Miller, is a great one, and the other strand of this book, what the heck is happening to her haunted community theater, is an equally fun tale in itself. No way to resist this. It’s simply too delicious.
TO FREE A PHANTOM is the third and final book in the Spirit Chasers series. Each stands on its own, but they are even better when read together and in the order of release.
I can completely relate to Erica. She feels like everything she tries, she fails, mostly because she is trying so hard to please everyone else and never does what makes her happy.
I have to love a story of romance between a geek (me) and an artistic type (my boyfriend). Here the roles are reversed, but it still warmed my heart to see them struggling to come together, to face the world together and thwart the ghost.
This was a perfect end to the trilogy, though I hope it’s not the end of the series.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: TO FREE A PHANTOM Series: Spirit Chasers #3 Category /Genre: Paranormal Suspense Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Carrie Pulkinen
Erica Miller, a psychic medium, inherited a community theater from her drama teacher who killed her husband then herself for reasons unknown. Trying to make a go of the theater, Erica brings a mirror with a ghost attached to it to the theater but things begin to go wrong. The mirror was in her mentor's home and Erica's known the ghost since she was a child but didn't know her true history. Gage Dawson is an IT genius and was Erica's best friend when they were in school. While Gage sucks at dating, he wants his relationship with Erica to go all the way to marriage as he's been in love with her for years. When Erica begins losing time and tries to kill Gage, things begin to come together but it'll take more than Erica to make things right.
This was a wonderful read and a great end to the trilogy. We see the characters from the first two books come into play while the new characters are well-rounded. I highly recommend the series, be sure to read it in order.
There were a lot of things I liked about this book, so why am I only giving it three stars? The romance was great, the suspense was great, the childhood best friend trope was great, you know what wasn't great? Erica and her willful ignorance. Listen, I get it, the suspense would be over way too soon if Erica actually possessed more than two braincells and did some critical thinking for once in her life. But listen, there's oblivious, and then there's ignorance, and Erica's refusal to accept the truth that is glaringly obvious to the reader from the start, made her a very frustrating protagonist to deal with. It's hard to believe this woman is nearing her 30s, because she has all the critical thinking skills of a small child. If that hadn't been the case, I would've absolutely loved this book, instead I was able to enjoy the book despite her.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. To Free a Phantom by Carrie Pulkinen is Book 3 of the Spirit Chaser series. I really enjoyed reading about Gage and Erica and their history together. If you haven't read any of the series (To Catch a Spirit and To Stop a Shadow) there are a couple of small spoilers, but nothing that would ruin the series. I do believe that reading the books in sequence definitely enhances the read. You do get to see Lindsey, Tina, Trent, Allison and Logan again in this book, but they are support characters to Gage and Erica. I really love the way Carrie Pulkinen writes her characters from every level of the human condition. With a rollercoaster ride of emotions, dramadey and ghost chasing adventure, To Free a Phantom will keep you entertained from cover to cover.
I loved To Free a Phantom when I read it as part of the Spirit Chasers: The Complete Series Box Set by Carrie Pulkinen which included three different books. The individual books included were: To Catch a Spirit, To Stop a Shadow, and To Free a Phantom. Each title is a stand alone book that focuses on a different ghost story and couple that fall in love. I loved the books in this series so much because they were entertaining reads that included a ghostly mystery to be solved and a unique romance in each. Furthermore, the romantic scenes between the couples were so sexy and sensual that I was hooked until the very last page. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every book especially To Free a Phantom.
Being a new author to me, I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. This book had a wonderful depth of feeling to it, and the characters were both authentic and engaging. These characters just draw you right into the story and you can’t help but become invested in their lives and relationships. Overall, this book was insightful and intriguing, impassioned and endearing, interesting and compelling, and utterly enthralling. I would definitely recommend it.

A second chance at love with a paranormal twist. I liked the story. It is Gage and Erica's story that was both sweet and funny at the same time. Add in the ghosts and Gage's hobby and it made it a little extra special. Though I did spend some time wanting to head slap them but that just made it funnier. I thought it was well written and the scenes just sucked me in. I had to see what the next crazy thing would happen next. I loved it. Well written I was sucked in from the beginning and read it in one sitting. A good addition to the series.
This was another great book in this series. Gage was such a great character who was so caring and tender to Erica. I loved how this geek was also a ghost hunter and was happy that he got his own story after reading the other books. I would recommend reading the books in order as it will only enhance this story although you could read it alone. Erica was also a great character who I liked. Secondary characters were also likeable and fun. Some mystery with lots of steamy scenes and paranormal activity made this book another winner.
Erica has been gone from her home town for ten years. Now she's back to take over a theater. She enjoys doing that although her job is graphic design. Her one unusual gift is seeing ghosts. And there is one that is being very persistent. Then she meets up with an old high school friend, Gage. As they slowly move in a good direction for both Sandra the ghost intervenes. Now things are getting interesting!! Fantastic ghost hunter type story!!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Gage is once again involved with a ghost, but this time his high school best friend and neighbor, who just recently moved back to town, is the one being manipulated by one. Erica has been teaching theater classes part time at the local theater she inherited. Now deeply in debt, it is devastating when she loses her full time paying job. The rekindling of her friendship with Gage and their mutual affection is in jeopardy when Erica's personality seems to be changing, and Gage thinks he knows why. I really enjoyed this ghost story.
Erica sees ghost but dosen'the know what to do about it, so she just continues to run the theater. Gage psych investigator, her best friend in high school shows up and she is glad to see him again, but he sees it as a chance to move their friendship to the next level he always wanted it to be. Join them as they check out the ghosts and each other.

You start right off in this paranormal fantasy with some of the characters being able to communicate with ghosts, but it gets even better from there! You will love Gage and Erica great characters. What is happening at the theater and will Colette ever speak to Erica? Gage has some interesting reading material too. This book went here there and everywhere such a good book it was very entertaining. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The third book in the Spirit Chasers series is a well-written story that held my attention from the first page, I had read the first book some time ago but for some reason never finished the series I now wish I had. This is paranormal investigator and IT genius Gage Dawson and Psychic medium Erica Miller second chance. A story I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story of Gage and Erica is so intense. He loved and needed her for so long and she went through so much pain, anguish, and guilt. But their love finally won the day. I gave this third book in the series a 5 rating because it is my favorite book. All of the ups and downs, all the emotions balanced beautifully and kicked butt. I would highly recommend it to friends and strangers alike.
I’m really loving this series. It’s nothing heavy or scary, but the ghosts and their stories add a ton of interest to an otherwise usual sort of romance. This series follows the sort of formulaic circle of friends thing, but I like the updates on old characters and previews into who will be next in each book. There are no slow burns here, either. Also- cute covers!!
A story about possession and vulnerability. Erica has the ability to see spirits but not the skill confidence or desire to help them cross over. She gets into trouble when one strong spirit takes possession. The story was entertaining but the characters needed more depth.
This is a well written paranormal book with an interesting story line. The author brings strong characters in Erica and Gage and does a great job pulling you into the story , keeping you glued to the pages right to the end. It's a sweet and sometimes humorous story and I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
