Meet four distinctly different women who, by choice or through life’s circumstances, have found themselves alone, seeking a haven and hope in the rural Northwest.

Sinda moves into a small town in an effort to leave the past behind and is befriended by a single dad – and put to the test by his daughter. Can she ever give her pain to God and trust the love of another man?

Tabby’s self-confidence has been shattered by lifelong stuttering. In a bold move to change her life, she pursues ventriloquism. After meeting Tabby, the ventriloquist shop owner knows his life will never be the same.

Fearless jockey Robynn can accomplish anything she puts her mind to – but she’s determined never to risk her heart again. When a similarly driven man enters her life, can two risk takers dare to love?

Lareana is trying to carry on after her husband’s tragic death. But even she can find nothing to smile about as her load becomes overwhelming. When a wealthy entrepreneur buys a parcel of her land, she has no way of knowing how their lives will be linked.

How will these hurting hearts respond to the pull of divine and human love?

Washington is another of the books that my Grandma left for me to read. As we have very different tastes in literature, it is no surprise that I didn't enjoy this compilation of romantic Christian stories. If you enjoyed these stories and the single star rating didn't tip you off, let this be enough. You've been warned.

Wanda E. Brunstetter's two stories sport cringe inducing attempts at humor and heroines with daddy issues. Professions of doll doctor and ventriloquism promised interesting topics that stereo-typically smitten love interests and maddeningly indecisive MCs couldn't deliver. The first story features a bratty 10 year old (a character probably intended to infuse the story with realism and connect with MC on heartwarming level, but succeeded only in showcasing the love interest's inept fathering), while the second story crashed and burned with a self-serving prig for a love interest, whose change of heart is belied by the convenient timing (spoiler: MC's not-so-bad short coming cured? Love Interest see error in his ways? three in one winner's cup: humbly beg for forgiveness, be reconciled, and have your proposal accepted. woohoo.)

Lauraine Snelling's stories are pretty typical romance novels with generally overblown attraction, an improbably good looking, masculine manly man, and a pretty pointless conflict that's brought to a head by the MC and love interest's undying need to be together. I'm pretty sure there's a formula for this. These stories leave gaping holes as the author leaves some pretty problematic subjects under-explored, such as the first story's themes of abandonment and the second story's topics of the tragic combination of recent widowhood and motherhood.

Overall, these stories touch on serious Christian questions, but lack the depth necessary to encourage readers to give those topics a second thought.

I love reading older books. And Author Wanda E. Brunstetter as I have said before, become one of my favorites.

I love the way her books just swallow you up into the story like no other. The home town way of picturing her places in her story's make me feel like I am within the pages. And this book was no different!

The two of the four novels within the pages of WASHINGTON Small Town Romance also was written by Author Lauraine Snelling. All I can say about Author Lauraine Snelling is WOW.. I also am putting her up high on my favorites.

Just the way that Author Wanda E. Brunstetter's stories flowed, so did Author Lauraine Snelling's. Her characters and plot lines where home grown, down to earth real life like characters.

I loved all four books with in this one book. The stories all flowed right into the next. And that is how I love for them to do when I am reading a book like this.

So due to the above I am giving this book a Breath of Life Rating of:

Five Clock Rating!!!

4-in-1 book of small town romances. Read about Sinda where she has moved and is trying to start her life over and forget the past. Will she be able to move past her father's abuse and move on to a new life? Tabby is extemely shy. Will she be able to move beyond this with the help of ventriliquism and move into a new life of ministry and love? Jockey Robynn is afraid to risk her heart again. Will she be able to move past her hurt and pain and find a new love and life? Lareana is a new widow with an infant son. Can she move past the pain of losing her husband to a drunk driver? The stories are good I just wish in the last one they would have had more discussion on drinking and driving. Lareana and Trey finally resolved their differences over alcohol but only when he "changed" his mind about alcohol. This issue should have been resolved before they established a relationship.

These books were written by two different authors and were Christian romance mixed with the State of Washington (except the last one was set in Portland, Oregon.) They were good stories, but not fantastic or anything.

The first three stories were enjoyable, yet blandly the same. It was easy, fast reading. I would have liked to see more expansion upon the characters involved and the romances linked.
