"A cold case has plagued Detective Julian Aguirre for six years . . . and now he's finally got a lead on he murder he'd vowed to solve. So does Julian. Because someone wants Lily to stay quiet, or she - and ruth - will pay the price . . . The story uniquely threads faith with an unlikely couple and an unsolved crime into an edge-of-your-seat plot. There are several layers to the plot that leave the reader enthralled and shocked as each is revealed. I would highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this entry in the Love Inspired series! The characters were relatable, and the addition of 10-year-old Lily as and auxiliary character added a little different angle to the story. It was the type of romantic mystery that I like to curl up with, an interesting read that kept me turning the pages!
The mystery aspect was really really good, I loved that you didn’t know what happened fully until the end. But I thought it was written poorly and didn’t flow nicely , and the romance was poorly written.
Could have been so much better. The idea was fine. A four-year-old girl witnesses the death of her parents, and 6 years later, her nightmares are bringing back memories of the night. Her music therapist and the detective who inherits the case work together to solve the case and are threatened in the process. But the solution is an unexplained mess. The how and why are never addressed, and even the who is a little confusing. You don't just yell "Surprise! It's this person!" and say nothing else about the criminal, the crime, or how the criminal became involved with the other criminals. Mysteries without explanations are just confusing.
