im a little let down by this one, unfortunately. its just feels very… anticlimactic for a series conclusion.
as a series continues, i expect the books to build off of each other not only in terms of plot, but also in writing development, and i just didnt see any of that. the romance remained stagnant, the dialogue and characterisation is still immature, and the villains still dont feel evil enough.
yes, the plot is wrapped up nicely and everything the reader wants to happen does, but this conclusion doesnt really offer anything else beyond that, sadly.

Solid 3 stars. I'm quite annoyed with the certain amount of open endedness which I saw no reason for and will drive me nuts.

I just loved this and love Thorne and Tinkle and maybe even Emberly a little bit lol. Totally recommend and I'm really looking forward to the spinoff book about my favorite character😏

So I think by now everyone knows how much I love this series. I won't say as much as I'm feeling because I don't want to give any spoilers, but dang I loved this book! I'm going to miss these characters and this world so much! Julie is an amazing writer. It just draws you in and hooks you so fast! I love her characters too. Everyone is so real, and I loved seeing them all grow and change.
Steel and Emberly's romance is so sweet. I loved their development and watching them grow together. And loved seeing the rest of the crew's relationships grow as well. And I love me some Tinkle. He's such a fun character.
This book is full of twists and turns and definitely kept me up all night reading because I absolutely could not put it down. There are big twists, lots of laughs, and definitely some tears too. Julie knows how to keep you on your toes for sure!
I really enjoyed the multiple POVs in this one, and I think it added a lot to the story to see things from more than one character's perspective. I did find myself struggling to remember who everyone was at the beginning since it's been a while since I read book two, but if you're binging the series you won't have that struggle (or if you just have a better memory than me!) but everyone came back to me and I wasn't confused for long.
I really hope we get more from this world and explore some other character's stories because I really don't want this series to be over!! My love of it has only grown as the books went on.
I highly, highly recommend this series and author to literally everyone, and I hope you all read it and then come talk to me about it because I'm obsessed!!!

Short chapters with several POVs and all from amazing characters are my new love language 😱🙌🏼🖤 I absolutely loved Emberly’s character development in this one… it was the perfect destination after such an intense journey. But her relationship with Steel is the true home run here 😎 how easily they fell into place with each other and never changed course, never doubted, never questioned each other. Damn, that was good! 🙌🏼 And *seeing* Sterling speechless was priceless 😂 The final moments in battle felt so real that I might have been shacking a little bit while reading this. 🙈 The perfect conclusion for this trilogy (although I’m 💯 open to a novella on Nova and Thorne 👀 what just me that thinks there’s something there?! And also super ready for one on Ash and Greyson 👀 Oh come on, like you don’t want to see something happen between those two?!??!) 😎 5 stars ⭐️

I have no words to describe the extreme anxiety that this book gave me 😳 So many things happen that kept me reading nonstop until the very last page.

3 “bottom lip biting” Stars ⭐️
Well that headache is finally over! I think if I had read these a little more spaced out and not one after the other, I probably would have liked this a little more as I wouldn’t have easily picked up on the unoriginal writing style, and plot elements that I felt like I had read about over and over. However as a result this book feels completely underwhelming, overly recycled, and just dragged on forever with no real direction. I was gritting my teeth to have it just end already.
Spoilers for the previous books to follow…
The story starts off almost immediately where the previous book ended and has Emberly and Steel follow Camiel, her MIA Sereph Angel father, to Eden. Yes I also rolled my eyes at the originality of that name. There she meets some of her long lost family and the missing Angel-line descendants. But all is not what it cracks up to be in this new found paradise and then things progress from there, while everyone prepares for the coming war that has been kicked off in London…
This whole series could have easily been condensed into 2 books, as a lot of the plot of these books is… Emberly and Steel get in a fight with the Forsaken/Fallen. They are beaten and then have to escape and then she “somehow” Emberly ends back with Thorne and rinse and repeat, she escapes for the cycle to start again. (Yeah you know how that kept happening in book 1/2 as well… especially the “they get beaten and captured part”…. 😑)
I’ve complained over and over in my reviews of this series that everything is too “face value”and there isn’t any real drive or motivation behind the actions of characters and you can really feel this in the villain character of Seraphim. You just need to accept she is Fallen and had a reason because it’s told to you she had a reason (but never what the reason is) so she is just “evil”. As such she feels juvenile, underdeveloped, lacking motivation and boring.
Let’s quickly talk about the side characters… and me saying I get that this is a YA and that the plot centres around teenagers! But really teenagers should not attempt to save the world in their own hands! Especially when they have an elite military force they can call on for advice, guidance, and support… but no obviously they have to take everything into their own damn hands and screw up half the time… if you just talk to the adults and have meaningful conversation half the crap that happened in these books would not happen.
Greyson- My man I have respect for your level headedness at times…
Sterling - You were good, you could have been great
Ash - I battled with you… whilst I was actually preferring to read your POV cause I was more interested in hearing about the Nephs than Emberly’s drama llama, you were a walking contradiction. Book 1 had you all sassy and bold, then at times here you were all timid and shy
I would still love you as my best friend! You gave me total Lilly Moscovitz vibes and I loved it!
Nova - Girl I just love you! Glad you getting your own story because damn girl I wanna know what’s in your cagey head!
Aurora and Blaze - my fantasy is I really want a spin off series for these two when they are older and working as keepers to cover all the shenanigans they get up to but for Aurora to find love and Blaze to be the protective bro….
Tinkle - I hate you but I also love you. If you had not “slept on the job” literally…half the times Emberly was taken would not have happened… also why your attachment to Nova.. this was another thing the reader just had to accept as fact and wasn’t explained.
Now on to Steelie boy… my dude I still don’t like you. Any of your brothers were a better love interest than you (including the kid - when he is older of course). What did make me LOL though was you went full TikTok quote and I loved it (but also rolled my eyes in a “seriously… this is happening right now” way)
Quote in question: “Do you want to know why you prefer the villain over the hero? Well that’s because the hero will sacrifice you to save the world, while the villain will sacrifice the world to save you”

Then there is the Thorne in my side… I actually didn’t mind him in Book 2. He showed so much promise and then 56% of the book I hated him as much as I hated Rhys and Warner in book 1. I was utterly confused by his actions at the end…
The plot is very predictable (including the twist) that was revealed way to soon. You as the reader are told about 50% in what is happening and I feel there is a missed opportunity to have dragged this out more to give a little more oomph to the plot.
On to the writing. This is well written in places and easy to understand but when it throws in terms like “nom-nommed” more than once so it gets very childish in places. There was one phrase used in all the books that by this one, every time I saw it my skin prickled… and that was “I bite my lip”. I actually counted (since I read this on my IPad) and there are 10 mentions in this book alone of biting a lip… never mind the numerous others of “I touch my lip” or “my tongue licks my lip”… there must be another way to describe that because it just got old. This actually became an almost inside joke for Steel by “how sexy Emberly is” when she bites her lip cause he would always tell her to stop… maybe I wouldn’t have noticed it if I didn’t read all the books so quick in succession but I did and now all I can think about is how that phrase annoyed me.
Overall this end was meh, the series went down hill from book 1 and didn’t really get the push it needed to climb up. It’s not bad per se but I think it’s definitely targeting slightly younger YA and if I was still I teen I might have enjoyed this more…

I love this book I love this series ! I love all the characters ! I love the author ....Omigosh I need to calm down .
Okay at the risk of sounding like a parrot I would stop now cuz I seriously can't think of anything else other than to repeat this line - "I love this book" again and again in my head 😂❤️.

After reading the last chapter , I was like no freaking way !! I have so many questions and I'm not ready to say goodbye to my favourite characters , nope ! Not happening but that was it ,there was no epilogue or anything of that sort. I was devastated !! How could this be the end ?? Nooooooo.
I was on the verge of tears when I came across this hopeful and hillarious acknowledge ! It flipped my switch! My mood instantly brightens and I start jumping with joy ! ☺️❤️.Thank you Julie Hall !! I'm counting down the days until the next book's release :)).

A solid end to the series. There was lots of action in this one, but I found it let the emotions of scenes fall a little flat unfortunately- as the characters didn't have a chance to process events before the next big thing hit, I felt that the reader didn't either.
I was hoping for a bit more romance in this one, as I felt Steel's 'alpha-male' role had a bit more to give. He was however a very sweet, considerate and devoted boyfriend for Emberly. I just would have liked a bit more emotion from this book! Romance, love, fear, heartache, hate, hope, joy. I felt the speedy events didn't allow any of these emotions to come through the page, which was a bit of a shame.
I love the found family in this series, and it's wonderful to see how the characters have grown through out the books!
Overall an enjoyable series I'm glad to have picked up 💜

I still hate Tinkle.
The most disappointing book of the series - because it's the last one, there's been an entire arc dedicated to this conclusion and it falls flat.
Hall does a good job of keeping readers, well, reading. Something about the style or the characters makes me want to keep going until I finish (and not just that instinct that forces me to finish a book) and then I read it all in one sitting.
I wish we didn't know what was wrong with Emberly so quickly. I wasn't even halfway when it was revealed to the reader, and then several chapters later finally introduced to the rest of the characters. I would much rather be guessing what was going on with the rest of the group instead of having the mystery spoiled close to the beginning. Also, Steel made a big leap to guess what was up and I don't think I would have ever guessed that.
But it doesn't feel like there was anything happening. Nothing really changed between Steel and Emberly, the villains didn't get any better or worse, and not everyone has to have a significant other, even if the relationship isn't established.
The conclusion didn't feel like the end of anything, and not in a good way. It felt unfinished; like there was another book with an even bigger, worse villain who will swing by and cause these characters to grow. Plus, I feel like I ended this book with more questions than answers, so a spin-off might answer things. Technically Good
Once again, this book is technically good. It's well written (with a few exceptions), properly edited, and gives us a cookie cutter happy ending. Now, I just have to point out this gigantic flaw. It's kind of a spoiler if you aren't good at guessing plot twists so, read no further if that's the case. Seraphim is a heartless, selfish bitch. She never really cared about her offspring and she DEFINITELY would not have left him alive if she was aware that he could be the end of her. In fact, she probably just would have used him as the blood sacrifice and saved herself the trouble of finding another. It's the way Hall wrote her character, and I hate the fact that she went back on all of that work just to have a convenient ending. Lazy writing... Now she did make a concerted effort to cut out her censored curse words, and I really appreciated that. I do wish we could have seen our experienced alpha male in action, but this series was hardcore YA. She was just jerking us around by writing her male love interest as an alpha shifter... Having read many alpha shifter books, I have a certain expectation at this point. Three out of five stars to Unleashing Fire. (At least this title makes sense.)

I do wish we could have seen our experienced alpha male in action, but this series was hardcore YA. She was just jerking us around by writing her male love interest as an alpha shifter... Having read many alpha shifter books, I have a certain expectation at this point. Three out of five stars to Unleashing Fire. (At least this title makes sense.)

Very intense!
This book kept me guessing at what was next. So much going on and I loved every minute of it! My only complaint is the ending. I didn't expect the abrupt last sentence. I thought we would get to read about the tribute to a certain celestial , maybe a hint of news about a missing angel, that would lead to another book?! All in all , I enjoyed this series immensely and would highly recommend to anyone that reads fantasy.

A solid end to the series. There was lots of action in this one, but I found it let the emotions of scenes fall a little flat unfortunately- as the characters didn't have a chance to process events before the next big thing hit, I felt that the reader didn't either.
I was hoping for a bit more romance in this one, as I felt Steel's 'alpha-male' role had a bit more to give. He was however a very sweet, considerate and devoted boyfriend for Emberly. I just would have liked a bit more emotion from this book! Romance, love, fear, heartache, hate, hope, joy. I felt the speedy events didn't allow any of these emotions to come through the page, which was a bit of a shame.
I love the found family in this series, and it's wonderful to see how the characters have grown through out the books!
Overall an enjoyable series I'm glad to have picked up 💜

Jaysus!!
This book was intense!! The conclusion to the trilogy literally left me with a good hangover.
I was hooked from the beginning and the multiple POVs kept me intrigued and glued to my ebook. It has great pacing and tons of fighting scenes, I absolutely LOVED it!!
The worlds that the author created including the spirit realm all seemed very realistic and easy to picture in my head. Tons of intense scenes so be sure to grab your favorite reading snack and settle down for a incredible anxious read. 😬

Third book did not disappoint at all! The action, the suspense, the characters kept me flipping page after page. (probably why I finished it in like 5 hours haha). Ngl, I'm going to miss a certain character even if I've only known them for a short while. Steel gets 100x more swoon-worthy in this final book, new relationships are hinted at and I'm particularly curious about one that might or might not happen. Overall loved this series! 5/5

Good Series
I enjoyed this series, Emberly grows so much throughout the three books it's nice to see at the end of the trilogy she has the one thing she never did... Family.
I would've loved some spin offs of this series between the other characters that u love along the way 💖

Delightful ending to a wonderful story! Original, creative, and full of action. Plus, I love the covers on these stories. Makes the readers think twice about what they know about the Angels and their interaction with humans. A must read if you like fantasy novels.

I absolutely love this world, the characters, the bonds, Emberly and Steels relationship. The ending left me wanting more. If there isn’t going to be another book (even if it’s just a short story)I dunno what I’ll do.

I sort of felt it in the second book--that feeling of almost. As in, this was almost a fully formed and executed idea for a story. I was okay with what we were given in book 1--which was somewhat juvenile, surface level characterization, a decent beginning with lots of world building, and a plot that had some nuance and many directions to go.
Book two didn't further any of that, however. The characters stagnated, the relationships went nowhere and didn't feel authentic at all, the twists weren't... well they just weren't. The evil bad guys weren't as evil as I would have liked, and the ending...I wouldn't say it fell flat, but it didn't shock me either.
Now to this book. It's basically book 2 with different words.
The relationship (what relationship?) between Steel and Emberly is probably the most underwhelming, forced, and inauthentic romantic subplot I've ever read. The whole soul-bond thing was stupid. Served no purpose other than as a source of jokes at the MC's expense and to give Emberly and Steel some semblance of chemistry. Which didn't work.
And the lovey stuff that develops between Sable and Deacon, Ash and Grayson (both of which could have been started 2 books ago and made to feel authentic, but wasn't) and Shira and Sterling? Half-baked, insta-lovey, bland. It all felt like some weird afterthought...what was the point?
The whole possession thing might have been interesting, if the bad guys were interesting. Instead, it just read like a convenient way to take Emberly out of any and all action for half the book.
Eden was mostly pointless. Unless the point was to be racist and sexist and abusive.
There is no adult in this book who acts like an adult. And some of these assholes are millions of years old. They treat these TEENAGERS like peers. Gossiping, trusting them with dangerous situations, bowing to their wills... There are no adults in this series. All of these kids aren't even out of school yet, and by the end of the series, none of them have plans to return to the school. Why? Some still have 3 years of education to complete?
I hate books where magical/supernatural stuff destroys real-world cities because they never cease to underestimate the chaos and destruction humanity can rain down upon itself. ESPECIALLY when it's scared and doesn't understand what's going on. These creatures destroy Buckingham Palace. There's news that they also 'hit New York'. If you don't think Nukes would be flying by now you've got another thing coming. Especially if America was attacked. NYC's already had a massive attack on it. You think another attack wouldn't generate some radical response? Yeah, right.
Hall doesn't even let us see a news report on what humanity is thinking. We get like 1 sentence where the Elders admit they're working with the humans--basically using missiles to take out the hotel where the orbs are. But we don't see the humans speak or act or agree to any of that at all. Hall treats humans like animals--inconsequential. Except this is Battlefield Earth. And humans happen to reign supreme. The Forsaken aren't fully able to form in the real world for most of the book--appearing as shadow blobs that just blow shit up randomly. You can't make me believe world leaders won't be trying to pin the destruction on their political enemies.
The ending (after the battle) was hella underwhelming. I'm with Emberly on being dubious about getting married. 17 is VERY young. And I don't really believe in the relationship enough to not feel icky about it.
So yeah. The story did come to a conclusion. That's about all I can give you here. The words stopped at an appropriate place. Congratulations.

Face to face with her father, Emberly finally has the meeting she never hoped for. But he does not have the time for the long awaited reunion. Only for making sure Emberly is safe. His army needs him.

While the angel-born world is in shock with the new information and working on capturing Thorne and Seraphim and avoiding world ending events by protecting the orbs, Emberly and her friends do everything they can to protect each other and the world. But it is not easy when they keep being separated.

For example:
- the bracelet: the first time Em cannot take it without an instrument and then someone can simply open the bracelet?
- use of the "angel" word: super confusing. Angel is a lot of things: it refered to the entire species that did not betrayed the creator; 1 of the 9 Angel lines/classifications; it is also used as angel-born to describe Nephilim. For example, Emberly is an Angel-born angel line born of an angel-born Angel line and a seraph angel. She is a Nephilim of the angel classification and the Daughter of a Nephilim that is of the angel classification and an Angel of the seraph classification. (I think this is it, a bit confusing, I hope I write it right) During some scenes it becames a bit confusing.
- Forsaken: the Forsaken are possessed beings by Fallen angels and they don't have their class specific powers.
As it is possible to see with Silver, even when the fallen does not have full control of the being they possessed, the being itself shows the characteristics and looks of the Forsaken. When Seraphim possessed the first body, it looked like a Forsaken but she did maintain some powers(?) (Is that right? She could do a fire rope thing, didn't she?). But not the second time. It is all confusing.
Also, when Steel was released he got his powers back but we never saw Silver's. Was it because she was possessed before she gainned them?
- the whole Seraphim planning everything: She couldn't have predicted what happened to her, nor Silver nor Thorne could have spoken with her after she disappeared because they were not there when it happened so they could not have planned it.
Not a fan of the reader knowing more about what is going on with the characters than the characters themselves. We readers already especulate and guess a lot of what is going to happen without the help from the author. If you add the author showing us more or giving us more clues than the characters, it takes the fun away.
And it started to get a bit repetitive with Em always being captured or escaping.
But overall a nice, enjoyable story.
And as always, my congrats and respect to the author for their bravery and imagination. No hate nor hurt intended with this review.

The third instalment in this Fantasy Paranormal series gives us more details about the world and the characters we love! Loved getting to meet Camiel and going to Eden - an ancient, hidden city with secrets of its own. Emberly and Steel go to Eden since it’s supposed to be safe for Emberly. But it turns out it’s not as safe as they wanted it to be.
London and other cities are under attack by Thorne and his Fallen forces. The entire angelic community must unite to fight against the common enemy. But ancient feuds and prejudices are not making it easy for them to work together. All the while, Emberly has a secret being inside her that could doom them all.
So much happened and secrets spilled and the master plan revealed. This book surprised me a lot when the secrets were revealed. I did not expect that twist here! It was a fun adventure. We get to learn more about Thorne’s life and his past. He was a complicated character from the beginning and as we learn more about him, he gets more complicated.
The relationship between Steel and Emberly progressed amazingly and was simply adorable. We got to learn why Steel was having dreams turning nightmares about Emberly for so long. We got to see them understanding each other in a way others count and the bond between them was endearing.
“You brought me back,” I whisper.
“I said I would.” A smile curves my lips.
“Is that your way of saying ‘I told you so’?”
He covers my hand with his own.
“No. That’s my way of saying I love you.”
Emberly continues getting kidnapped and wanting to be rescued, it’s the one annoying factor of the story. She says she can take care of herself but the amount of times she gets captured is almost funny.
I loved the way the story progressed! The battle was exciting and the way the different points of the plot merged was fascinating. This became my most favourite read from the series!

“Let me make one thing abundantly clear. I will watch the world burn before I let her go.”
A good ending to this series- There was a lot going on in this book, it was very action packed and there were a lot of new characters, places, and relationship developments. Since there was so much going on in this book it was a lot to process emotionally- I feel like the characters sometimes had no time to process because there was something else happening that was equally as bad. But I loved the new characters- Shira and Nikias to name a few. I loved that Camiel was in this book more- it was great to see a softer side of him than his Warrior Angel side.
There were some new potential love interests in this book- Ash and Greyson, Nova and Throne and maybe Sterling and Shira. I wish we got more on these- but when the world was falling apart, I can see why there was no time. But I really hope in the next book they bring these characters back so that I can have more development and know if they got together! (The next book is about Nova- but I am totally cool with more spin-offs with Ash, Greyson, Sterling, and Shira. I need to know what happens!) I love Emberly and Steel’s romance- I love how they fell into place with one another, and they never had a love triangle or doubt in their relationship.
Overall, I am so happy to have read this series (so far- waiting for more spin-offs). I love that the books focus on found family- it was really well done! The character developments were so good- I feel like everyone grew so much throughout the series. I can’t wait for the fourth book for Nova’s continuation.

Finally finished this series yesterday, and wow! What a showy finish! Everything that made the series so thrilling in the first two books--the angel concept, the tension and romance, the amazing friendships, the action, the touches of paranormal horror--is all amped up even further in this final installment.
While many final books fall prey to too much action and not enough chill times with the characters, Julie Hall avoids that here. We get more development of Steel's and Emberly's romance, more banter with the friends (Ash gets her own POV, and what might evolve into a romance of her own), and a few family secrets of Emberly's, too, during a short break at the peaceful angel-born sanctuary Eden. While this made the beginning a little slow, I appreciated how even in the third book where we already know our characters pretty well and the situation is dire, Hall took time to do more work on them rather than just stringing together action scene after action scene (though there is plenty of that too). It makes me wonder if, perhaps, there will be future installments to the series to explore the other characters and their romances...? (hmm, well, it looks like there will be a sequel pairing up Nova and Thorne).
In any case, I feel accomplished for having finished the series, but still intrigued enough to read any further installments.

3.5! But I rounded down for personal reasons.
For the life of me, I’m always forgetting Emberly’s name by the time I have to review these things and for once I actually remembered. That means this book is my favorite out of the other two.
This book is multiple POV, and I like that more because you get a broader picture of the whole story. I always enjoy watching the bad guys turn 180 or holding out hope for those lost to the darker path. Some things were predictable, others were a nice surprise.
The writing was okay. At some parts it really gripped me, especially when small moments got built up. I’m a sucker for the love between Steel and Em. I think Em seemed a bit oblivious but it could’ve been me knowing more than her and getting frustrated over it. Who knows.
I enjoy Em’s crazy form when Steel’s threatened. I love the Magic. Like the angels when they come into play. Wish the whole “gotta be a secret from humans” fear was a littttttle more present to make it more, but it isn’t the main thing so I’m okay as it, for the moment.
Overall I liked it. Sometimes it felt dragging but I’m also an impatient reader (especially when I’m holding off chores) so that definitely comes into play lol.

For the life of me, I’m always forgetting Emberly’s name by the time I have to review these things and for once I actually remembered. That means this book is my favorite out of the other two.
This book is multiple POV, and I like that more because you get a broader picture of the whole story. I always enjoy watching the bad guys turn 180 or holding out hope for those lost to the darker path. Some things were predictable, others were a nice surprise.
The writing was okay. At some parts it really gripped me, especially when small moments got built up. I’m a sucker for the love between Steel and Em. I think Em seemed a bit oblivious but it could’ve been me knowing more than her and getting frustrated over it. Who knows.
I enjoy Em’s crazy form when Steel’s threatened. I love the Magic. Like the angels when they come into play. Wish the whole “gotta be a secret from humans” fear was a littttttle more present to make it more, but it isn’t the main thing so I’m okay as it, for the moment.
Overall I liked it. Sometimes it felt dragging but I’m also an impatient reader (especially when I’m holding off chores) so that definitely comes into play lol.
