Avery is, Andie’s twin. Andie is from the first book and she is married to Mike, Drew’s (Red) boss, and his best friend. This is also, a gap book. Can’t remember, the exact number. I’m thinking around fifteen-years since, he is, three-years-older, than, Mike. We learn from the last book there are sparks between Red and Avery, although he is fighting it. He brings out all the reasons why they can not be together.
This book is the start of the case, of the pushy sister matchmaker, Andie. Not a becoming look, for her. To the point, where Drew feels a need to take, Avery aside, and give her, the ‘it's not you, it's speech,’ and they're not even dating. Humiliating her, even more. Causing her, to date less than desirable men. Not take care of herself, and latching on to men that are not treating, her with respect.
But, when Andie gets an SOS call from, Avery who is out with her new boyfriend, and finds herself in crisis mode, it's Red who steps in to help, especially when he hears it's concerning, Avery. He finds out her general location and he's out the door. When he finds the sleaze all, has Avery on display, in the middle of a group of his friends, at a busy bar, and he’s manhandling her, he loses it. He takes her out, but not before teaching, the handles-man, a lesson.
This one night, without knowing it changes the course of who they both are. Even with all the roadblocks, they tend to put up, they come out of the dark tunnel. Then, one major obstruction comes barreling at them before they get their feet under them. Red (Drew) as Avery rather he is called due to the meaning of Red, he gets an assignment out of state that long, drawn-out, and complicated. Taking him out of the country.
This assignment, tests them both, as to whether they are both in it for the long haul. But, when Lorna, Mike’s mom arrives to care for her nephew. This while her sister, is with her, she explains, she can cry her tears but when the time comes Drew will need her. Lorna knows she can give. This means everything to her because, even though she's her sister's mother-in-law, she has been mothering, her too.
See how these two, emotional shipwrecks, sail off together or hit dry land head-on. If they sit still long enough, will they find out they are speaking the same, language or is that the problem? The thought of sitting still, for too long is not something, realistic for them. Jason and Christy, are there also to help her not feel alone.
This book didn’t really interest me much only because I felt Avery was seeking too much attention. Now that her sister was married and with a son, she was looking for some type of relationship and getting in relationships with random guys. Although I’m not too keen on reading many books with twins. In my opinion I felt this author forced a reunion with Avery and Drew only to pair them up with one another and because she is a twin why not write a story putting Drew and Avery together. I’m not too happy that this story was forced because the author wrote at times that Drew didn’t have time for a relationship because he worked in the field too much. He didn’t have time for a relationship. On the other hand, Avery was doing too much to draw attention to herself with the help of her sister trying to play matchmaker all because of their agreement as kids to find their prince, get married, and have a family together. (I don’t understand that concept, but whatever.) So, I lost interest in this book altogether.
I am in love with this book and can’t wait to read the whole series!!
Avery & Red are couples goals!!
This story had so much substance and just enough filth!! I couldn’t get enough of the characters. The sisters dynamic reminded me of myself and my sisters.
The suspense was awesome!! I was not expecting it.
Another lovely romance from Nikki Rome in the Heroes of Calvano Security series. Avery and Drew were so determined they couldn't be together, and it was so riveting to see them finally just accept they were made for each other. The romance was heartfelt and steamy, and it was so nice to see the characters from other books drop in. A fun, sexy series for romance lovers everywhere!
Ms. Rome has delivered another wonderful story in her series of Calvano Security. This one has a strong hero who has just started a relationship with the sister of his boss's new wife. Drew and Avery are a well matched couple but she is worried that she is not strong enough to be a wife to someone who puts himself in danger. The characters are well defined and the plot moved along quickly. When Drew is captured on a mission and seriously injured, we get to see how strong the couple can be.
The author handles difficult situations with tact and understanding. She does not fall into the trap of the hero is fine in a few days. I really like all the characters in the story and hope to check out more on them. I highly recommend this book
Unbreakable is book 3 in the Heroes of Calvano Security series.
For some reason I couldn't connect with Avery, I felt like she was jealous over her sister getting married and she just wanted attention on her. Once Drew pulled his head in and started dating Avery the story got better but the poor me attitude from Avery has made this one of my least Dave books from this author.
If you like strong characters who are good human beings but don’t know what they are missing out on until it’s right in front of them, this book is for you. I enjoyed watching these characters find their HEA by almost losing their better halves.
Drew was always on a mission for the security firm sometimes gone weeks with radio silence. Now he finally was ready to have a relationship with Avery his boss's sister in law.
