OWNED BY THE MAN I BETRAYED
Eight years ago I uttered a lie that changed a man’s life.
My father banished him from his bratva cell. From the country.
Now he’s back to take my inheritance. My life. Not through murder, but marriage.
And my own father arranged it.
Maxim thinks he can make me submit to his will. He thinks he gets to call all the shots.
I wanted him once and he refused me. I won’t fall for him again.
And I don’t plan to cave.
Not even when he makes me tremble with need…

Having read the first book and hating it because it had way and I mean way too many troubling elements, I can best describe this second addition to the series as the feminist counterpart to the first.

Seriously, in our male MC we got a feminist mobster, a total sweetie, I would take him home and introduce him to mama (if he wasn’t a mobster of course - turns out in real life I got some prejudice against murder and general nefarious dealings lol).

The heroine, I thought was good as well, a bit of a departure from what we usually get which was refreshing, but then there were some things that didn’t make that much sense in terms of her personality. So she was this seductress type who liked to manipulate with her sex appeal and make use of her ..feminine wiles?! But then of course, it turned out she kept herself “pure” because after 4 years at UCLA where she partied her a$$ off, she did everything but have sex. Why?! Well, I suppose so that at the very tender age of 23 she could tell her unwanted husband that he’s her only. It didn’t make sense, and the explanation of how she did it because “it was the one thing she could control in her life” didn’t fly with me because it made no sense since that’s what her dad wanted from her, which means if she needed control she’s have done the opposite. But why argue the point any further, it was clearly written in so that the hero could go all proud Neanderthal about how he owned her and he’ll be the only one blah blah blah.

Apart from all that, the plot was ok, but nothing much happened. It was very light with the drama, the action as well and generally speaking it felt like I was reading a mafia rom-com. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t great.

5 Born Ready Stars ⭐

The princess brat and an arranged marriage that will bring her to heel in the most decadent and delicious manner. Their history may be best forgotten, but an arranged marriage brings them full circle.

Sasha is the daughter of Russian Bratva leader. Upon his death, she is now wife to Chicago Fixer, Maxim. She may have been forced into this arrangement, but even her tantrums won’t keep her safe from Maxim’s will of having her as his wife in every sense.

“I’m not having sex with you.”

Maxim gives me an unfathomable look. “I hope you’re good at satisfying yourself then, because no other man will be getting between those legs.”

Fortunately for Sasha, Maxim quite enjoys her antics and is quite indulgent of her behaviour and need for attention. Although it wasn’t his choice to ‘inherit’ her, Maxim will do whatever is required to keep her safe. The fact that he’s insanely fascinated by her, makes this situation bearable.

“I don’t know if you’re punishing me or you want to be punished sugar, but you have to find another game. This one is too dangerous, da?”

Used to being unloved and discarded, Sasha uses wilfulness as a weapon. However, Maxim sees beyond the persona. He would be everything she needs, if only he could trust her. And he wants to. Even if he has his hands full with Sasha's resistance at every turn.

“You’ll be screwing anyone you want while you keep me under lock and key. Is this how it works?”

I grip her hair and tug her head back, then slide my mouth down the column of her neck. “If you want a different arrangement, caxapok, then claim me.”

Is it hot in here? Because these two together were dynamite, ready to blow at any moment. I thought initially that the spoilt routine would grate on my nerves. But the little glimpses of the real girl kept me centred. I fucking loved Maxim. His confidence and amusement of Sasha had me smiling. The Fixer was low on drama, high on steam and made discipline and coercion mighty attractive. This series gets better and better!

Pretty fast pace and a steamy moments..

Sasha ill be honest she was a spoiled brat.. I was already annoyed how she acted then the more you learn I felt bad for her. I understood why she acted out why she was the way she was.. did I like her by the end of the book meh not really but I understood her. What I hated was what she did to Max when she was 17 Like girl? That part annoyed me so much.

As for Maxim I liked him way more he was more mature with what was being thrown at him. A wife who thinks he hates her and he doesn't hate her lol he hates lying and being betrayed. And that comes back to bite them in the ass.. and Max should've looked harder and trusted his wife.. but he has been hurt in the past.. but also his brothers should have told him sooner.. and not treat his wife like that.

So these two are like oil and fire Sasha trying to have a normal life outside her dead fathers mob and annoying Max and Max trying to trust his bratty wife.

Low angst, no ow/om drama( unless you count flirty),no cheating, Drama, slight secondary character, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhoreish

Style: Mafia Romance
Story: 3/5
Enjoyment: 3/5
Dark Level: 0/5
Sexual Level: GOOD

Violence: No
Male: Wealthy and Sexy
Series: Book 2
Pages: 260
Audio: FAIR (male)

STORY:
I really enjoyed book one, The Director. Even in book one I got excited knowing Maxim’s story would be next. Maxim was sexy, but too nice, like really nice mix with jealousy. His niceness mix with Sasha’s annoying tantrums did not give me a good mixture. I expected a bit of anger with what Sasha did 6 years ago. Sasha, she is 23, but she read like a 17/18 year old. Understandable she is rebelling because she feels trapped before her father dying and after his passing, even so, it just felt ok. I didn’t get that much burst of excitement as I remember I feel like I am reading the same attitude tantrum/behavior different scene.

Also to note, didn’t care for the audio. I have listened to book audios where a male voice carries the book, but this one, even this was just ok as well.

CHEMISTRY:
Sexually I had no issues. I often like the way the author does her sex scenes, so this was satisfactory and pleasing for me.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
It was exciting catching up with Ravil and Lucy, the twins, Oleg even if he doesn’t speak and that penthouse they are always gathered in.

OVERALL, it was just ok, a little disappointed but still planning on reading book 3 and books from this series.

✰✰TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Sasha was summoned to her dying father's house, told that to protect her, she was to be married to his former protégé, Maxim. who now lived in Chicago...with her being the only child of a feared Russian Bratva boss, he was insuring her safety, knowing she was the reason Maxim was now in the U.S. rather than with her father's Bratva cell...she was disinclined to go along with this, but was married right then by an official who came to his residence...then within the week after the funeral, she was on a plane to the U.S. with her new husband. He didn't want a wife and she didn't want to be married, so first chance she got, was determined to leave...thinking of her mother's suggestion that Maxim only agreed to the marriage to get his hands on her father's only legitimate holdings of oil wells. Taking her to the penthouse shared by the Ravil's Bratva cell, and installing her into his, now their room...advising her that she would have an escort if she needed to go out...but soon she discovered for the first time in her life, she had someone who actually listened when she spoke and liked that he had her happiness in mind...but you will need to read this compelling story to see what happens...I voluntarily read this story through an Advanced Reader Copy.

Sasha is really a spoiled brat. Ok she didn’t want to be given away like a prize pig in a county fair. And to Maxim who she believes hates her for what she did a long time ago. But she also is uncertain of what her life will be. Maxim is controlling everything and she wants to find herself. She is also looking for someone to love and care about her. She doesn’t want what her parents had. Maxim is not thrilled about being pushed into a marriage with Sasha. Yes, he desires her but she is a spoiled princess and needs to be reined in. He will enjoy teaching her the rules but he doesn’t want to break her.
I have to say she really is a brat. She was pushing Maxim’s buttons from the very beginning but man did they both have a hard past. For Max, you can understand his trust issues and hating lies. For Sasha, she was controlled by her father who took her mother as a mistress. She didn’t want her mother’s fate but they way she acts, you wonder and so did she. I was glad when they finally got together but then a twist came. I knew who was to blame. Just had that feeling. And then my heart broke. I cried. It was a hard road and Sasha as I said before is a fighter and tough. Thank goodness. I am so looking forward to Black Light Rematch and The Enforcer.

I thought this one was really good. Maxim was a really good Hero. There was just enough conflict to make it interesting but not too much so I was annoyed with it all. Both the main characters had their strengths and their weaknesses but I'm glad they weren't too stupid to see that they could have an HEA together.

Mafia romance at its best.

This one was super fun. I didn't think id like this book at first, mainly because of Sasha, I absolutely hate bratty heroines, but she definitely grew on me. Maxim was yummy, powerful, in control and oh so sweet. Together they just worked.

The Fixer (Chicago Bratva #2) is the second book in the Chicago Bratva Series. Released February 2, 2021

The Fixer is a Mafia/Bratva Romance. Once I saw that I thought to myself… “A Renee Rose Mafia Romance? Sign me up!)

I’ve learned from prior Renee Rose books, that her Mafia novels will deliver that delicious edge and heartwarming love. Her dark reads aren’t as dark as it can be in this genre. She has a style all her own. I can always trust that I will love the hero at the end of a Renee Rose novel. Her characters always deliver real life emotions that leave me pausing to take it all in.

The Fixer is definitely a 5-star read for me!

Renee Rose always delivers with her unique blend of heartwarming emotions and sexy darkness. We are also treated with familiar characters from
The DirectorThe Director, the first book in the series. You don’t need to read The Director prior to this book, however the secondary characters in this novel were first introduced in The Director.

The Fixer is one of my favorite Renee Rose novels, second only to Stefano’s story (Jack of Spades) in the Vegas Underground Series
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Maxim and Sasha were epic. Maxim was the dream husband. The way Maxim and Sasha were brought together after 6 years of separation was not ideal for either of them. Sasha’s father is the Pakhan of the Bratva in Russia. Sasha is called back to Russia because her father is on his deathbed. She moved to The Unites States, California to pursue her dreams of having a normal life. She always knew that her happiness would come to an end and she would have to return to Russia. Having a father as a Pakhan is not easy. Still, she had no idea that her father’s dying wish would be to reunite her with the man whose life she ruined all those years ago.

Maxim, who currently lives in Chicago and is a member of Ravel’s (from the Director) The Director Chicago Bratva outfit, also gets called to Russia to be at the side of his former mentor who is dying. Sasha’s father arranged it so that Maxim and Sasha would have no choice but to get married. It’s a shock to them both.

This forced marriage is not what either of them wanted however Maxim handles his new life with mature acceptance while Sasha acts out in defiance. I understand her need to rebel as it is explained further in the book. I loved how this book gave us enough background to understand the history as well as such deep emotional connection between Sasha and Maxim.

You could feel the love, respect, and angst between them. I truly enjoyed reading about their experience and this relationship. There was character development and proclamations that made me swoon!

I definitely recommend this sweet, Bratva arranged marriage, sexy read!

Been waiting for this one and once again, Renee Rose didn't disappoint me. Maxium and Sasha are basically forced to get married. She's a mafia princess and he's one of the top dogs in the Chicago mafia scene. When her father passes away, it's up to Maxium to keep her safe but she fights him at every turn!! It was fun to watch their relationship develop but I sure wasn't expecting the twist that might have ruined it before it even began. She doesn't want to be tied down and he doesn't trust woman so how are they going to make this work? There's drama, some angst and OMG, the steamy scenes? Let's just say keep some ice water handy, you may need it! Loved this story so much and I can't wait to see more of them down the line in other books!! Next up.....Pavel and Kayla. This one is gonna be good!!!!

Stunning Mafia Romance!!

Sasha at her Father’s death bed is betrothed to the man who turned her away when she was younger. Embarrassed, she lied, which resulted in his exile. He has returned to collect her; will he hate her, beat her, or worse?

Maxim is satisfied (now) post-exile with his life in Chicago. Called back to wed the daughter of his former protege, he understands he is the only man who can keep her safe especially keeping away from Russia.

There is a large sum of money involved.

Sasha is flirty and flaunts her good looks. Maxim detects an underlying innocence. Sasha expects cruelty, but Maxim is generous and supportive.

Highly entertaining. Wonderful development of this relationship. I literally could not put this one down!

Doesn’t deliver what synopsis promises

This dark mafia romance promised to have all the right tropes and ingredients I love: an anti-hero with a difficult past who is somewhat of an alphahole, an awful betrayal, forced marriage and a heroine who is innocent but strong. Alas, The Fixer fell short on all these counts.

First of all, Maxim, the fixer, is too nice by half. After the way Sasha, the heroine screwed him over, he doesn’t hold a grudge. He could have died because of her actions, instead he was banished to another continent. The fact, that his banishment ultimately worked out for him is no excuse in my eyes. So when her father, the pakhan – who was a father figure to him, too – asks him go come back and marry Sasha, he doesn’t hesitate. And he does marry her, not to exact any type of revenge, but to protect her. Also, he really sees her and supports her in realizing her dreams. There is no dubious consent; with regard to the intimate side of their relationship he is very patient and responsive to her needs.

Not that she deserves his consideration. She is a spoiled, self-centered brat and not too bright into the bargain. As her father paid for her education, she could just look for a job to support herself. But she feels entitled to his money, so she agrees to marry Maxim. Once married, she does her level best to make Maxim’s life as difficult as possible. She considers herself an innocent because she still has her hymen, even though she used to suck off her fathers guards to get her will (eww). And despite the kindness and patience Maxim has shown her, she is all to willing to believe that he is secretely plotting to get rid of her when a rather dubious source suggests this to her. At one point she vetures pecariously close to TSTL (too stupid to live) territory.

I don’t really expect a mafia romance to be overburdened with occupational details, but it would be nice to see the members of the bratva do some kind of business, if only for background. Maxim is supposed to be this legendary fixer, yet we never see him actually do anything to deserve the title.

I really wanted to like this book more, but for me the hero was way too nice, the heroine rather obnoxious (not made any better by first person point of view), and the story overall not dark and intense enough for my tastes. 3 stars (and half a star for Maxim).

Sasha has been living the life for the past for years. School in LA. Friends. Parties. Honing the only skills that give her power. But the gig is up. She’s done with school and her dying father is calling her home. To Russia. Sasha’s father is a boss in the Bratva, so he’s arranged a marriage to keep her “safe”. When her future husband walks through the door, she can barely believe it. Maxim. Sasha’s first crush. The one she tried to seduce and then he got sent away. Surely he must hater her and this is a ploy to get back at her. Maxim whisks Sasha off to Chicago and offers her the world, but what’s his play? Is he willing to open his heart or is this all an act to get his hands on her money and to control her?

I LOVED the Fixer! Maxim was awesome! Attentive and vulnerable; alpha, but secure enough not to be too controlling. Sasha was great as well! Melodramatic, but sensitive and kind. The characters were interesting. The storyline moved quickly and kept you engaged until the end. Lots of interesting and likable side characters. An overall great read. I cannot wait for Oleg’s story!

Terrific Bratva book

I really love every Renee Rose book I read and this is no exception. This is an arranged marriage romance and Russian Bravtva book at the same time, most of the action takes place in the US though. I am so looking forward to reading the short story with a couple of side characters from this story in the soon to be released Black Light Roulette Rematch book which I have coming and then I have to wait for the next novel in this series, but I am going to get it when it come out. I really recommend this book, I just wish that I didn't have to wait for the next book.

This was an absolute page turner. Sasha was given to the man she betrayed eight years ago by her father on his death bed. Her father even went so far as not only giving her to Maxim but also making him be in charge of her inheritance.

Sasha and Maxim's story started with her lying to her father about him and he is banished from the Russian Mafia but now he owns her because her father saw that they are married before he dies. Maxim has a strong distrust of women because he has been lied to in the past

This author gives you so many emotions in this book there is hate, revenge, betrayal. Will Maxim trust Sasha or does he think she plans to lie or betray him again? Her father said he knows Maxim will protect her, should she trust her father's judgement or will she try to leave Maxim? Plan to read future books from this author.

Intense drama an abundance of excitement filled with fear, danger and angst kept me glued to my kindle. This story is amazing with plenty of steamy chemistry heartfelt emotions with a sweet side and humor. Renee always writes an attention grabber and this one is just more proof of her inescapable web that sucks you in with twists that get the heartpounding enjoying every blasted word.

In the last book The Director, we knew Maxim had to leave and go back to Italy for some reason but had no idea why. With The Fixer, we now know why. We get Maxim and Sasha's story and what a story it is. I have to admit at sometimes Sasha surprises me. She is a devious little minx. And Maxim for someone who wanted nothing to do with her, he jumps right into the mix of taming her. LOVE IT!

Renee does a great job with her newest release. Hope we get stories from the others!

This couple starts their courtship at the wrong end.
Getting married at the deathbed of her father, his pakhan, may be unusual for "normal" people but when you are born or adopted into the Russian mafiya, you don't say no to a "request" like that.
For this couple it means they have to get to know each other to make this marriage work.
But how do you do that when there are huge sums of money at stake, people getting killed, loyalties in question?
They may be brutes or spoiled princesses but that's not all they are. There's much to find out about each other.
Hot, sweet, brutal, the perfect mix!

The Fixer is the second book in the Chicago Brativa series by Renee Rose. A dark billionaire mafia romance, this page-turner has an interesting storyline and great characters. There's betrayal, lies, distrust, revenge, twists, heartbreak, drama, humor, plenty of steam, and so much more.

A solid 4 stars. This is book 2 in the Chicago Bratva series. Maxim was forced to leave the Russian brata by the head guy Igor for a lie that his daughter Sasha told. Now on his death bed Igor makes Maxim return to Russia and Marry Sasha. Two souls that do not want anything to do with each other. This is Maxim and Sasha story. It is funny, witty with just a hint of violence.

Couldn’t put it down...
Sasha and Maxim are married at her father’s death bed and neither is too happy about it...at first. Her father was the head of the Russian mafia and his death leaves Sasha vulnerable to betrayal which is why he gave her to Maxim to protect. If only it was that simple...

Dealing with old history is never easy for anyone, and Sasha gets hit with some hard history when her father tells her that she's marrying the one man who should hate her. It's not bad enough she has to get married, but to Maxim?

I thought that Sasha was really interesting. She has behaviors and skills that she has learned to protect herself and to control her world, and then she has her real self, and they don't really ever quite intersect most of the time. I can understand why she has all these layers, and I would need to have them too, in her case. Any kind of control is good, even just a little bit.

I think that Maxim is a good guy. Yeah, he has some definite moral issues, but that doesn't mean that he's not a good guy. It was really interesting to watch him during the story.

Book Two in the Chicago Bratva series picks up where the first book ends by focusing on Maxim and his "unwilling" bride. This technically can be read as a standalone but it is recommended to read the first book for a better understanding of this world. This series is perhaps better renamed as the "hostage brides" or the "unwilling women". Because in this one, just like the first, the female definitely does not want to be held captive.

A PHENOMENAL romance, an unlikely couple, an endearing love full of promise! MUST-READ!!
Once again, I am in awe of author Renee Rose’s ability to tell what is billed as both a Crime Thriller and a Multi-Cultural romance with such perfection that by its end, readers will feel assured that the romance they have just lived with her compelling characters has taken them to the highest level of the most BLISS-filled nirvana ever felt by a reader! While I dubbed the first book in this series “Sheer PERFECTION!” the amazingly detailed ending of THE FIXER had me whispering the same thought as I read the last sentence! Perfection is what readers see in every romance Ms. Rose touches because that is how this author rolls. She puts together the most unlikely couples, has them fall in lust, and before her readers’ eyes, Ms. Rose turns them into fascinatingly endearing characters, worthy of this incredible unconditional love they have found. Then through compelling action and circumstance, she has those same readers totally convinced that the ONLY way these two characters will survive is to work together, admit their love for each other, and without question stand together against the foe bent on destroying their hope of a life wrapped in each other’s arms. Like Ravil and Lucy from The Director, Sasha and Maxim fit together perfectly despite the fact that her lies about him resulted in his banishment. On the surface, they are oil and water, but then author Renee Rose begins to weave her story magic. Using her eloquent and enticing prose Ms. Rose captures the focus and emotion of her readers as she weaves the story, grows her characters through angst and action wrapped in chemistry, and then accelerates their relationship through captivating events that require Sasha and Maxim to work together and trust each other. Understandably, the seemingly sudden appearance of the words “The End” is reached long before a reader is willing to leave the story’s cocoon. Leaving those same readers sad, unwilling to let go of what has become more tangible than their real lives, and longing to see more of the loving relationship the HEA has developed. THE FIXER is an incredible, erotic novel (18 and over, please) about one of those rare and compelling love stories that imprints the mind and keeps a reader smiling long after the reading is completed. I jumped to volunteer to read an advanced copy of THE FIXER, and this is my voluntary and honest 5+STAR review. Do yourself a favor and get your copy of THE FIXER today! Happy pages! 😉

This was a very enjoyable read. I'm really loving this series and was very excited to read Maxim and Sasha's story. I do think that if you wanted to enjoy this book as a standalone you easily could. While characters reappear and events are referenced there are no true stumbling blocks that will make you feel you are out of the loop. I'm not saying you won't be intrigued and tempted to go back and read those books, but I don't think you have to. As for this book, it is a enticing blend of drama, emotion, danger, twists, excitement, humor, sweetness and steam. I loved Maxim! So cool on the outside and burning with passion on the inside, this dominate man definitely had a sweet side even with the baggage he carried. Sasha, I have to admit I had mixed and complicated feelings about. I spent at least half the book not liking her (Even if I could feel for her) and then another quarter of the book I spent wishing that she was not so darn clueless. Even saying all that though, I could not actively dislike her enough to make an impact on the pure pleasure I received from this book. These two made the kind of twisty couple that has a start rooted in sweetness but their situation and life itself forces their tale into the shade with some drastic turns. An excellent book and addition to this series. I am eager for more books in this series to be released, especially Oleg and Story's romance. I am posting an objective, unsolicited review.
