This book contained two Christian fiction novellas with secondary themes of Christmas and romance. Both stories are set in the 1940's following World War II.
In the first novella, Bev Winters is a war widow with a six-year-old daughter looking for a job. Dan Fisher is a widower needing help in the used toy store his deceased wife started. A patchwork quilt she made while she was dying becomes an important component of this story as well as the following story.
In the second story, Olivia Howard loses her home in a tragic fire, but firefighter Nate Forester rescues her and helps her cope with the loss. Nate is a veteran of the war and has dealt with loss, too.

Two delightful Christmas novellas set just after WWII, that include a handsewn quilt made with love in both stories. The first one was set in the city, with snow and carrying a Christmas tree up into an apartment. The second story was set in the country with cows and warm homey community. both had heartwarming happy endings.

We have 2 Christian romance stories in one book, where the common denominator between the 2 is a handmade patchwork quilt which brings the characters from both books together in the second story.
The first is about Dan Fisher who lives alone since his wife, Darcy, died of leukemia. He has a photography business and also runs his wifes used toy store. He hires Bev Winter, a widow of the War. She has a 6 year old daughter, Amy. The story takes you through their relationship and the quilt, which Dan's wife made before she died, is given to Bev's daughter, Amy, eventually.
The second story is about Olivia Howard, a 2nd grade teacher who looses her house in a fire. She is rescued by Nate Forester, a volunteer fireman who lives at home on his parents farm, and does farmwork when not putting out fires. The story takes you through their relationship and you get to see it bloom, but not without trial and error. The quilt is sent to Olivia by Bev Winter because she read a story about Olivia and her house fire in a magazine and she wanted to pass something on to her that would make her feel good.
These are great stories, all rolled up into one book, and I highly recommend it!! They are written well, and it is a fast read.
