I have officially finished the third book in the Pieces of Us series, Healing Shattered Hearts by Kerry Taylor, and honestly… this felt like the right moment to look back not only at this book, but at the series as a whole 🫶🏻 This story came in with so much emotional weight, and from the very beginning you can feel that it’s meant to wrap, to heal, and to remind you why you got attached to these characters in the first place.
This book truly warmed my heart. There is a lot going on, emotionally and plot wise, and while I didn’t fully love how rushed some parts felt, especially when a meaningful, healing, or cute moment was followed by an abrupt interruption, it still managed to keep the same rhythm as the previous books. The drama, the tension, and the plot twists stayed consistent with the series, which made it feel cohesive rather than messy ✨
One of my favorite parts was the development of the secondary characters. Seeing Xander find the love of his life, watching Evie grow, feeling Keira and Grant’s steady support, and witnessing Lincoln’s healing journey was genuinely everything 🥹 These arcs added so much heart to the story and reinforced that found family vibe that this series does so well.
As a whole, I really loved the series. Found family and 4 cinnamon roll MMCs? Say less 💖 All the guys absolutely slayed, and there were so many moments where I found myself swooning over Livy’s relationship with them. Romance wise, this was a 10/10 for enjoyment. Seeing Livy grow, trust, and slowly reclaim herself across the books was incredibly satisfying.
And yes, we finally got a bit of spice 🌶️ I’d call it a one chilly pepper situation, not because it’s intense, but because it’s intentional. It’s not the focus, but it represents Livy’s trust in the guys and in herself. One scene per character, very soft, very restrained… special mention to Matt’s dominance because okay, noted 👀🔥
That said, even though the main storyline was technically closed, especially regarding The Shadow and The Darkness, the conclusion didn’t feel as solid as I expected. There was reflection, and the epilogue was undeniably sweet, but I personally missed seeing more of Livy in between. I would have loved a chapter after the final drama, showing her experiencing fewer panic attacks, or simply living as a family without constant fear. Since the epilogue jumps four years ahead, that middle space felt a little empty, and as a reader, I really wanted to witness that healing timeline 😞
As with the previous books, there were quite a few misspellings and grammar issues. Nothing that can’t be fixed with Calibre (yes, it’s my guilty pleasure; sorry but I’m a perfectionist 😅), and definitely nothing that ruins the story. If anything, this story was so good that it deserved the extra care.
Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this series and I’m really glad I finished my 2025 and started my 2026 reading stats with it ✨ It was emotional, comforting, and full of heart, and I know this is a series I’ll remember fondly.
