Rate this book
Olivia Byrd spent eight years of her childhood at the hands of a monster. Now that monster is gone and she is finally free of him, but she has been left with so many unanswered questions.
Who was he? Why did he take her? Who killed him and why? And most of all, was she really free and safe now?

With no answers in sight and no idea where to start looking for them, Olivia decides it’s time to move forward and start living the life she fought so hard for. With her protective guys at her side, and her family at her back she faces many new challenges. She has a new home to build with the men she loves and college classes to tackle, all while still striving to overcome the darkness of her past, and the horror of recent trauma.

And if there is one thing that life has taught Livy and her guys, it’s that life is never easy and the past is never really the past. If they want the answers to the questions surrounding the kidnapping and security for the future of their family, there will be more danger, and secrets to uncover ahead of them. The question is, do any of them have the strength left that they need to get to the truth and find their version of happily ever after?

This was a nice ending to such a traumatic story. I read waaaay too much smut because I was expecting more than a sex scene per dude, but the story was so good that I’m not complaining. I feel like maybe there was a run out of material, for the story to take the turn it did and for the villain to be who he was. I was expecting the shooter to be someone related to the Shadow, but it threw me off the norm with him being someone affected by the Shadow’s sickness. It’s fucked up because Olivia has already been through enough, but it felt weird that it wasn’t her kidnapped this time. I guess we gotta give girl a break.

I'm not going to lie, this book series could have been really good, but they weren't.

-- SPOILERS AHEAD --

Something that I have been commenting on and on and on in my reviews of these books was that the make-believe factor is not there:
- the heroine Olivia has been kidnapped 3 times. ok? how is that even possible considering 2 of her boyfriends are basically lethal and have the authority to protect her due to their jobs. she has 4 boyfriends, 2 parents, one big brother, everyone takes so many precautions. I was like "ok here we go again..." ALSO given the circumstances that she found herself in, you would think she would be careful but no of course not, of course she would wander off by herself and get panic/anxiety attacks because of that.

- she has PTSD, was kidnapped 3 times, suffers from panic attacks, doesn't eat normally, and what not and she is constantly talking and acting like nothing ever happened and downplays her situation so shortly after she was rescued...

- her ability to readapt to the world she was taken from is simply abnormal. I don't care that this is fiction because the point is to make me believe in the story and take me in this world and make it real for me. but there is simply no logic. how? really... how on earth did she learn anything and I mean ANYTHING in the past 8 years she was kidnapped... anyyything!! school education? nope. manners? nope. language/vocabulary/slang/form of speech? nope. sex education? nope. nothing. nada. she wasn't neither allowed to speak nor was she spoken to in 8 years. how is she coping so fast with everything?? how is she a genius in math?? so good she outsmarted professional criminal investigators!! how did she manage to "catch up" on school work so fast? how can she enter college so soon?

btw I was so mad in those scenes where kyle was missing and she started having sex with matt... I was like?? are youu for real right now? for the first time in many books I just wanted to turn to a chapter of another characters pov (either kyles or kades would have been great) to know what was going on and not stay in the main pov where the heroine was being a victim all over again and whiney and not allowing me to know what was going on...

the whole book is literally just her saying she is alright then panicking, then being good again. so many contradictions in the book. like in the las part where she was at the hospital whining that she needed to see kyle or she would die right... and then kyle comes and she is like "you shouldnt have come I feel so guilty blablabla" omggggg I just wanted to throw my phone away reading that...

on the GOOD side:
- I did not DNF because I love when guys are protective and this series is no exception.
- although it could be worked on, the idea of the book was actually new for me. her being a survivor and now being adopted by an extremely generous family. I liked that...

I think the author does not lack writing skills. I think she writes well enough (the foreign language not really... that was annoying), but she should work more on the creative part, on the building of the story. because the first book started well enough and then it became very repetitive and that made it boring to read...

Such an Emotional Read

This has been such a heartbreaking and emotional series to get through, and yet I have loved each moment of Olivia's journey. Book three takes us into even deeper recovery and growth, both for Olivia as an individual as well as her relationship with her guys. We see her conquer certain fears (including her fear of intimacy) and experience new joys and new strengths. We see the bonds with her guys grow to be lifelines for each other. The overarching theme of "Family" in this whole series is so beautiful, and the way the guys are protective, not just of Olivia but also each other, was moving. As difficult as certain parts of this story were to read, it was always gripping. Carefully straddling that line between despair and hope. When I analyze my feelings overall, the difficult parts don't in any way overshadow the courage, love, and hope that resonated throughout this series. This is not a "light" read, but if you're in the mood for a truly engrossing story, with some heart pounding moments and a slow burn romance with "sweet heat" with some memorable characters, and you can handle the potential triggers as there are some very dark moments (especially in the first two books), I absolutely recommend you dive into the "Pieces of Us" trilogy.

A perfect ending

Olivia and her guy's still have alot of drama and pain to get through before they get their happy ending. But together the can accomplish anything. They can fight those who are out to cause them pain and they can figure out the clues to who the mystery person is who helped Olivia's kidnapper. These guys all struggle to deal with the horrors of their pasts and I love that this series shows just how traumatic living with nightmares and triggers can be. I just love every member of this family and an kind of sad that this amazing series is complete. I really love these books.

KERRY!? WHY?

First off, let me start by saying, I love the characters stories however...

In this book, Kerry made a mess of things.

The grammar, and spelling errors aside (trust me, that is hard for me to say, since they were so ABUNDANT!) she also, for some unknown reason, decided to use a form of Britsh language that less than 0.05% of the Brit population uses anymore!

It was frustrating, and nauseating.

In this book, it felt like she was doing it on purpose, laughing as she wrote it, trying to see how many ppl she could piss off using the words both that we no longer use and also, the wrong words for situations.

THANK GOD, that this was a good enough story to hold my attention but, honestly... 2 stars is generous.

Read the story, it's good but, only if you have the mental capacity to switch the words out for modern day English. And the good sense to fill in the blanks.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A perfect end to this great series. Packed with lots of action and love with Olivia and her guys!

I love Lincoln and I’m excited that he’s getting his own book. I’m hoping Liv and the guys will be mentioned still, I can’t get enough of them! Especially after how that epilogue ended.. such a tease!

Five stars all the way

What a conclusion to an epic series it just flowed so perfectly from start to finish. I hate reviews that tell you the whole story line so I won't ruin it for everyone else so all I'll say is amazingly written fantastic characters and a brilliant author can't wait to carry on reading more by her .

Drama drama drama, so much drama and I was already tired of it in Book 2 but I read this book just to find out who the second person was (the kidnapper's accomplice). I skimmed a lot tbh, because over and over again it's the same thing. Olivia: I'm weak, it's my fault they got hurt, I can't function without all four of my guys, I need them so much... and also the not being able to sleep or eat because she's so stressed and worried, to the point she gets dizzy and can't even stand on her own, literally making herself sick. So YES, she IS weak because she won't even make herself eat even though she knows she needs the fuel!

I know she has been through a lot and if she's not sleeping because of nightmares that's one thing, but this constantly stressing herself out and crying -- she cried so much in this book -- and not even taking care of herself even though she knows this worries the guys and in turn causes THEM to lose sleep... that's just self-centred. She's always moaning about how she's making them worry, but the things that she can do to NOT worry them, she doesn't do. Like trying to eat, like getting some rest, like NOT RUNNING OUT AND DOING STUPID THINGS ON HER OWN.

In Book 2 we saw her get stronger, she even fought her kidnapper and won; but in this book it's like she regressed. Oh yes she finally managed to have sex with each of them! Bully for her! A milestone to be sure, but apart from that she really seemed to have regressed and became this weak, weepy, shaky, needy woman. (By the way, if you're wondering, the sex scenes were kinda meh.)

The identity of the second person was a surprise but it's never explained why he shot Chris. Pretty sure that was a memory and not just a nightmare that Olivia had. And if he had shot Chris with Olivia present, that also means he should have known where the kidnapper was when Olivia escaped the first time. So it doesn't make sense that he didn't do away with the kidnapper at that moment. And was he the one who was trying to bury Chris's body, or was it the kidnapper? A few questions unresolved here.

I love when big tough guys are protective and gentle with their woman, but in this series, I felt it was a little too much. Smothering. They didn't encourage her to be independent and to be herself, rather they were always worried and hovering. I get that she had already been kidnapped three times and somehow also keeps getting beaten up or injured but still.... it was very much "you little helpless woman, I big macho man, you need me to look after you, you can't be on your own" and sometimes I wanted to roll my eyes at that. And I felt that Olivia and her harem were all co-dependent, based on how much not only Olivia but all the guys kept saying they couldn't live without each other. It really didn't seem a healthy relationship. My advice? Read book 1 and stop there.

I wanted to love this but...

There were many things I loved about this series. In the beginning the guys were sweet, the female MC was damaged but healing...then...good lord it was like watching a train wreck through the rest. Drama, drama oh and hey, moooore unnecessary drama. It was just one thing after another. The characters never grew and even by the last book I wanted to smack the girl. I know trauma, I know trauma is processed differently by everyone. I know that overall she was healing but good god all these tiny little moments of constant repetition of the same conversations “oh I’m not good enough, oh it’s all my fault, I can’t function enough without all my guys, I’m refusing to eat or sleep because I’m upset” girl needs a better therapist to help with her trauma and codependency issues. Like...seriously.

Still: even through all that...it was a well done attempt. Excellent villain, though the time lord thing was...unnecessary...the overall storyline was well done. I think that I will revisit this author again and see what other tales she has in store.

Great ending, even tho i feel like i had wanted more interaction between her new found friend Joy, the very first one outside of her family which is big. And also the new brotherly bond between Linc and Kyle. The ending would have been even better if the epilogue would have been when they got their first child after 4 years ;) i am happy for Xander that he got his HEA in the end!
Btw, what was the whole reason to why Livy got kidnapped? i think i missed it, maybe we got to know it in the second book? if so i forgot why, lmfo. I really liked how the author tied everything together in the last book, we got to know more about the guys past as well as Livys kidnapper and the shadow

I am so sad this series is over! I have loved following Livy’s journey and have reread the first books several times while waiting for this ending. It was a well thought out and finished ending, with learning more about the guys’ histories, wrapping up the unsolved parts from the previous books and watching Livy and the rest of the family grow.

Amazong book andone of my favourite series!

Always depressing

Not enough steam to balance out how unstable 98% of the characters. Fmc still has panic attacks every 5 minutes...like the series is depressing g but it seriously barely gets better....glad it's over. This is not a romance. This is a womens self destruction with 4 guys jn it.

Why did you read this book?
I am working my way through RH completed series I’ve been meaning to finish.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Contemporary, Crime, Fiction, Horror, Philosophy, Psychology, Romance, Suspense, Thriller

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS
I think my favorite part was Cole’s date with the MC. Renting a boat is romantic.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who likes dark content, drama, and suspense.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS
Meh, I didn’t like this book as much as the others. There is a reason that this series rubs me wrong sometimes. The drama is so heavy, it’s a bit over the top, and doesn’t allow the characters (or the reader) any breathing room. Unlike the previous books the characters seemed be forced out of character just to make certain events happen. (Matt not telling the guys about his mom. Kyle going off on his own and following a stranger into an abandoned area… Who does that?) Xander and his partners break-up was sad, but understandable. There were also elements that didn’t add much to the story. (MC chronic headaches.) Also, how or why the MC reacted to the mysterious strange at the ball was never revealed. Based on the story there was never any point she would have met the guy, so he shouldn’t have set her off. Also, I am a bit tired of these bad guys constantly getting the jump on the MC and guys. Considering all the issues you would think paranoia would be added to that list. But… noooo it seems like the characters constantly make themselves vulnerable. Finally, the MC goes into a burning building to try to save one of her guys. (The MC personality also goes back and forth. From her being a harden bad ass to a meek woman that needs others to comfort her.) Overall, not bad if you liked drama, but this one was a bit over the top for me to like it.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
Each of the men sleeps with the MC. Matt has some light Dom stuff in it.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
Medium burn.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are 4 love interest, all of them males.
Kade- works for CPD.
Kyle- Ex-military and lost his whole squad.
Cole- “Big Teddy Bear” Type.
Matt- He has experienced trauma like the MC.

💖💖💖💖💖

🌶️

I have officially finished the third book in the Pieces of Us series, Healing Shattered Hearts by Kerry Taylor, and honestly… this felt like the right moment to look back not only at this book, but at the series as a whole 🫶🏻 This story came in with so much emotional weight, and from the very beginning you can feel that it’s meant to wrap, to heal, and to remind you why you got attached to these characters in the first place.

This book truly warmed my heart. There is a lot going on, emotionally and plot wise, and while I didn’t fully love how rushed some parts felt, especially when a meaningful, healing, or cute moment was followed by an abrupt interruption, it still managed to keep the same rhythm as the previous books. The drama, the tension, and the plot twists stayed consistent with the series, which made it feel cohesive rather than messy ✨

One of my favorite parts was the development of the secondary characters. Seeing Xander find the love of his life, watching Evie grow, feeling Keira and Grant’s steady support, and witnessing Lincoln’s healing journey was genuinely everything 🥹 These arcs added so much heart to the story and reinforced that found family vibe that this series does so well.

As a whole, I really loved the series. Found family and 4 cinnamon roll MMCs? Say less 💖 All the guys absolutely slayed, and there were so many moments where I found myself swooning over Livy’s relationship with them. Romance wise, this was a 10/10 for enjoyment. Seeing Livy grow, trust, and slowly reclaim herself across the books was incredibly satisfying.

And yes, we finally got a bit of spice 🌶️ I’d call it a one chilly pepper situation, not because it’s intense, but because it’s intentional. It’s not the focus, but it represents Livy’s trust in the guys and in herself. One scene per character, very soft, very restrained… special mention to Matt’s dominance because okay, noted 👀🔥

That said, even though the main storyline was technically closed, especially regarding The Shadow and The Darkness, the conclusion didn’t feel as solid as I expected. There was reflection, and the epilogue was undeniably sweet, but I personally missed seeing more of Livy in between. I would have loved a chapter after the final drama, showing her experiencing fewer panic attacks, or simply living as a family without constant fear. Since the epilogue jumps four years ahead, that middle space felt a little empty, and as a reader, I really wanted to witness that healing timeline 😞

As with the previous books, there were quite a few misspellings and grammar issues. Nothing that can’t be fixed with Calibre (yes, it’s my guilty pleasure; sorry but I’m a perfectionist 😅), and definitely nothing that ruins the story. If anything, this story was so good that it deserved the extra care.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this series and I’m really glad I finished my 2025 and started my 2026 reading stats with it ✨ It was emotional, comforting, and full of heart, and I know this is a series I’ll remember fondly.

This series reached right into my heart and grabbed ahold of me from the very first sentence. It blew me away. It ripped out my heart stomped on it then glued all the little pieces back together again. Not that I read that sentence it doesn't really sound like a recommendation does it?
So before I get too far into this I should say this series has some pretty rough content. Kidnapping, rape, beatings, child abuse, etc. Some people find these things triggering or just distasteful to read about. Whatever floats your boat, I'm not one to judge. But now you can't say I didn't warn you. I personally have never read a book where I felt the content made me uncomfortable. But I have never had any kind of abuse or trauma in my life either.
This story is extremely slow burn, its not your typical kinky sex in the first 5 pages like most are these days. Personally, I love the tension, the build-up. How the lack of immediate sexiness gives time for the characters to build and interact. The care and respect that the 4 main men show for the leading lady is so amazing. The fact that all 4 main men suffered from their own traumas and use the knowledge of what they went through to help Livey work through her issues is such an amazing thing to read about.
This series touches very heavily on mental health and how trauma can affect people. There are instances of panic attacks, high anxiety, and PTSD flashbacks. Livey is encouraged to attend counseling to deal with her issues and over time counseling helps her learn coping strategies and how to work through panic attacks.
I work in mental health. I love to see books like these helping to shine a light on mental health and counseling. People everywhere need to know that it's ok to ask for help. The stigma surrounding mental health is so frustrating to see and I think books like this that show it in a positive way are wonderful.
On a bit of a different note, I adore the cover art for this series. In a world where everything seems to be bright colors and rainbows, the stark black and white cover art speaks so much. I can feel Livy's pain just from seeing the covers of the books. I have honestly never been one to pay much attention to the covers unless there is a hot shirtless guy pictured. But these images really hit home that this is a book about Livy and her healing journey. Not about sex and not really even about romance. This is a story about multiple peoples broken pieces helping hold each other together.

I couldn't wait for this book to come out. I've started to read it first thing in the morning and I pretty much devoured it! And I will definitely re-read it soon.
I loved to see Livy get better and be there for her guys when they needed her. That we got to see it works both ways not only they are there for her but she is there for them as well. We finally got Cole's and Kade's stories and we got to see more of Kyle's life and Matt's. I was sad there wasn't much of Evie and Keira and Grant, but I get the guys move out so they couldn't be there as much. I fell in love with Linc and with how Olivia handled the situation. This was the example of how far has she come.
Also, all of us knew the Shadow had help from the police department, but I would say none of us expected this. It was a really great conclusion of the Shadow's story.
Now why didn't I give it 5*? Well, it felt kind of rushed. There were too many storylines and too many things to focus on. I didn't get why there was the thing with Matt's mom or the thing with Xander and Simon - maybe we can hope one day Xand will get his own book and it was a foundation for it. We didn't get to see the guys be at university they've just started there and it seemed like Livy would have a friend and then there was the end and four years later all of them are out of university and have jobs. Also I felt like Livy and her guys deserved a better ending. It felt kind of "cliffhangery". I know we will get to see them in Lincoln's books but still I would die for an epilogue novella or something. We can only hope Kerry finished it like this so she can come back and continue their story.
This all said I think before the ending there should be one more book. But I understand that we don't always get what we wish for.

Representation: Hispanic Hero

Overall: 3.25-stars

I realized while reading Healing Shattered Hearts I need to be in the mood for this type of romantic suspense reverse harem romance. The Heroine was SO freaking weepy this whole book and obviously, given that it's been less than a year since she escaped captivity, she has every right to not have herself together. But, her characterization detracted from my enjoyment of the book. And, I was SO looking forward to this finale. I think if I had been in the same mood I was while reading the previous two books I would've enjoyed it more.

That being said, I liked how Healing Shattered Hearts wrapped up all the loose ends from the previous book while still developing the main characters. Taylor did a great job exploring the pasts of each of the guys and while I complained about the Heroine being weepy, I did appreciate that the Heroine's characterization reflected someone who has severe PTSD.

Safety Rating: Safe with Exceptions

Possible Triggers: Yes

This was such a heartbreaking series that I was immediately hooked into.

It’s such a unique story about trauma and trying to recover and learn that there is good people you can find in life.
I loved every page of it and I am definitely sad that this series is over!

Olivia is a really unique character that I loved right away. I love how in each chapter she gets a bit stronger with the help of her new family. The guys in this series were amazing and I’m so glad that there was no drama between any of the characters. As dark as this series is, it still was really beautiful and heartfelt at the same time. I honestly couldn’t decide who my favorite character was in this series. They were all so great and the guys were just so supportive of Olivia. It was really great that they all opened up to Olivia to support her. Cole, Kade, Matt, and Kyle all have very sad backstories, and seeing how much they all love and support each other was so awesome to read about.

To be honest this series is a tough one to review without spoiling anything. I highly recommend you check this one out if you are okay with reading this one because it may be triggering for some.

Overall I’d give this series 5 stars!

A cliffhanger ending...lets hope she finishes it.

This end book in the trilogy was as drama filled as the last two books.

The main female character is still a traumatized clingy person. But since she has been kidnapped by a pedophile twice and once by a twisted serial killer intent on draining her blood. And doesn't have years of therapy to get over it. It is understandable she has issues.

Over all its a solid story, but very improbable.
The books reverse harem theme is loosely tenable. Its stylised on a open singular unity with the female only engaging with one man at a time.
Whereas a true revese harem has multiple partners together regularly and one on one occasionally.

Over all its a good story and I would give it a 4 to 4.5 rating. With some editing to correct a few grammatical errors. And maybe add some stronger counseling it could be a fine psychological thriller with a harem twist.

Definitely not for the faint at heart or sufferers of PTSD. There are dozens of triggers in these books.

I waited until all the books were out before I started reading them due to the fact I hate waiting! I have loved to see the growth from the 1st book to this one.

I would say the first few books are definitely a slower burn romance but I kinda appreciate that due to all the trauma she went through. They took the time to really let her heal and build lasting relationships with each of them above the physical.

In this book I loved how she finally grew into her sexuality and explored things she wasn't able to before and truly find out who she is after the trauma and with so much love from her partners that you cannot help but to fall in love with each of the guys.

Great end to a wonderful series!

Book 1 - something about the writing style and pacing drew me in and I read every word. I love a book of deep drama with some suspense and the need to work out a problem.

There were multiple points of having to suspend reality and just let go of certain facts in order to follow the story.

Book 2 - really enjoyed getting some closure on the overall situation. Not sure I am liking all the male character. However I was very happy to see Kiera have more involvement and get more time.

Book 3 - I normally marathon read series. Otherwise, I forget what I liked so much about the book and lose interest in the overall story. However there wasn’t enough growth or new material to pull me in and I found myself skim reading book 3. For the record, kade was my favorite.

Still amazing

As I already said in previous review of this serie, I really love it and every book captivates me!
Like the title says, this book focuses on healing for Olivia as much as for her guys.
The Shadow's story will find its epilogue, not without struggling and pain, but finally we can hope that they will find peace and be able to live fully HEA.
My only criticism is that Olivia's monologue got very repetitive. Always the same words about how she couldn't live without her guys, how she doesn't deserve them, etc. It got a bit old even if it's a part of her PTSD.
Like in every book I cried reading some parts but when I look at the cover of the 4th book, I couldn't keep myself having a big smile🥰 It looks very promising and can't wait reading about this beautiful HEA!!!!

Spoiler !!!!!!!!!

I do love Livy and her guys , but there was just to much going on and to little story.

It felt rushed , I knew that the conclusion to who the traitor was , would be in this book , and it didn't shock me , the reason though didn't do the story justice.

I wished we had seen more of Livy and if she and Joy would become friends , and a little bit more of Lincoln and Kyle interacting would have been great.

Also what was up with the ending ?? I would have loved an epi with her being a mom instead of just ending it like that.

Conclusion : book 1 and 2 were great , book 3 fell behind unfortunately.

Beautiful finale

I’m so sad to say goodbye to these characters! Livy and her guys have the most beautiful relationship and seeing the incredible character development has been my favourite part of this series. It was great to see the loose ends getting wrapped up in this finale and finally some answers to the questions left after book two. Livy’s character is written so painstakingly, the care taken to make this story so realistic is what sets it apart in my opinion. Sweet, romantic and a satisfying slow burn make this series a must read.
Can’t wait for Lincoln’s book either!

Great Book

Healing Shattered Hearts continues Olivia and her guys story and sees the guys continuing to try and find out who The Shadows’ accomplice was as well as starting college and developing their relationships. This book ties the loose ends from the previous two books up and brings the story to a great conclusion. I love the characters and loved the journey Olivia took from the first book to the end of this book, seeing her come out of herself and finding herself after everything she’d been through. Overall, this is a good book and a fantastic series that I would recommend reading.
