Imaginative Ideas, One Good But Others...

I have enjoyed at least one other book by this author, but I have mixed feelings about this one. In it, a young boy is creatively thinking up ways to combat that little germ that has given us such trouble this past year. I actually think his first one is a great idea: double masking, using a procedural mask next to the face but an imaginative and funky one to be worn on the outside. The other ideas given definitely shouldn't be done or encouraged, like squirting people with sanitizer or throwing masks at people we don't have one if they have a runny nose. (Masks become ineffective once they are wet, like from nasal discharge.) Still, this book could be useful in opening up discussion about what we can do to stay safe and even to encourage children to think creatively about how to do so. You might need to say that most ideas suggested in this book wouldn't really be good to do, but then you could then come up with good ideas—or silly ones—together. You might come up with some good, practical ideas... or at least you may be able to ease a child's fear about the pandemic with a little outlandish humor.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Lovely and necessary for these tough times

I love this little book it was an easy reader for a child about eight years old to really understand the germs that are out there but to make it fun and adventurous and dealing with these trouble times were now living in. My hat goes off to the author for a job well done.
