This book can be read on a one-page-per-day kinda way. Each page has a "Keep this in your pocket" snippet that summarizes the page and leaves the reader with a mental note to take from the readings. Although the book suggest it helps to deal with "toxic" people, it applies to all people and generally boosts self-esteem for readers at all stages in their self-development and awareness growth.

If I could, I would give 1.5 stars. It was just so repetitive and I got tired of seeing the word “toxic” 5 times on every page. I believe that to a certain extent personal responsibility can be empowering. But this just seems to be a book by a woman who teaches influencer therapy and has mostly elite clientele. As a mental health professional myself I feel as this book is out of touch.

This is an excellent book to help you reclaim your life and gain wisdom and peace after being in toxic relationships. I highly recommend this book. Definitely deserving of 5 stars *****

Very repetitive. After a few dozen pages nearly all the content just becomes rephrased. Also the subtitle “quick hacks” is misleading because this book is nearly 300 pages and all the hacks are all along the same lines of “love yourself and set boundaries”.

This book clearly has a targeted audience for those who are Christian as faith and God are intertwined with her hacks. So although I found some ideas interesting, I couldn’t relate because of this “God has a plan” and “just have faith” motifs. I don’t understand why a book about psychological behaviours needs to include religion as anyone can be a victim to toxicity or abuse and need help, not just those who are Christian.

That said this book could help people who are stuck in situations and need these affirmations to get out. But honestly I wouldn’t recommend this one specifically as there is better content out there that is more inclusive to a broader audience and is less repetitive.

The ideas presented are valuable and mercifully free of Christian references and forgiveness as the solution to everything.

On the down side, this is the most redundant book I’ve ever read. What is said in 261 mini lectures could have been consolidated into 26.

This book has short therapy lessons. It's not really meant for sitting down and reading all at once, but for reading a little bit each day, as you need insight and support.
I found its messages to be very helpful.

I spent a long time reading this book. Early on, I knew I didn't want to rush through the short chapters like a daily devotional, but I also didn't want to read too slowly. I ended up reading about 2 chapters per day and took time to reflect on the content. I've recommended this book to several clients and will continue to share it with anyone I think would benefit from its valuable content on developing healthy relationships with oneself and others.

The main message of the book is if you are in a toxic or abusive relationship- whether a parent, a partner, a friend- just love and respect yourself enough to leave.
