Description
Delivery by Sea is based upon the author’s early life, what he got up to, how he coped with recovery from a life threatening brain haemorrhage aged 15 when any dreams he had had are dashed because rather than examinations, Nick has to first deal with the way his brain functions have altered. He has to learn to walk once again, as he has a left sided weakness and is prone to epilepsy and the consequences of it. Delivery by Sea is a story of the human spirit and how an individual comes to terms with his disability.... and more. Although based entirely upon the author’s own experiences, Delivery by Sea Includes experiences of people with similar situations such as Nick’s, such as when and if he or they should commit to marriage and have children, how his epilepsy affects his aspersions and work prospects . Also how his life changing disability alters his interactions with those closest to him. Delivery by Sea is a story of the human spirit overcoming and adapting to life after a life changing event. Where there’s a will there’s a way..Nick deals with temper, with the anger & frustration born of his condition in a sometimes humorous manner. Anyone can overcome adversity if they try hard enough. The title reflects how much the sea and yacht delivery played a part in his recovery from being a strong, confident, fit, healthy teenager into a limping and terrified young man, through to the meeting the woman of his dreams, who is prepared to support him through Hell and high water, and to enjoying, in an almost vicarious way the lives of his two children. Delivery by Sea is a story of hope. Tragic, sometimes farcical, but all true.And just as with other books he’s written, Nick’s own plot is somewhat chilling, as over the years, it documents a struggle with his epilepsy & depression, which on occasion is more than difficult to cope with. The support & succour of Chris, Nick’s highly qualified Neuro trained wife, and the love of his two children, Sam & Elizabeth, and of how his family & friends see him through difficult times. One constant seminal to Nick, friends & family apart, is the Sea, which, though sometimes harsh, has always been there for him.
