Her mother's passing affected Lady Alice Softcreek in more ways than one. After witnessing her father wither in grief, she's vowed never to fall in love and suffer a similar fate.
Rumor has it that William Millington, the Marquess of Eearhum, is a heartbreaker unlike any other. He is also very much against taking responsibility for any of the broken hearts he's left in his wake. Until the day he meets a lady who seems completely unaffected by his charms.
Magnetic and irresistible, the attraction between them pulls them closer to each other. And to their own damnation. A note promising another stolen moment with William lures Alice outside at night. Only, the face she sees starring back is that of a nightmare.
Hanna Hamilton has been fascinated with the Regency era ever since she was a young teen, first discovering historical romance novels by famous authors such as Jane Austen and Lisa Kleypas. She believes that love was just so much more magical back then, more like a fairy tale. She always daydreamed about finding love herself that way, but since that is impossible in the twenty-first century, she decided to write about it instead!
Born in Texas, Hanna Hamilton obtained a degree in Creative Writing and has worked as a literature teacher before becoming a novelist. When she isn’t writing, Hanna likes to explore the countryside with her husband and two children, gaining inspiration from the natural world around her.
So, come on a journey into love, confusion, and redemption all within the Regency era. Hanna hopes that you will enjoy immersing yourself into her novels and that you too will find a love for old-fashioned romance, just as she has.
Lady Alice Softcreek had made up her mind to never marry due to her father's grief and the suffering he went through when her mother died. She never wanted to have to go through that. She has turned down many marriage proposals. She has a younger sister, Emma. Emma is looking forward to marriage and having her own family. Her father, the Duke of Warington needs to have his eldest daughter married to someone that can take over the Dukedom and for her to produce an heir. He has invited William Millington, the Marquess of Eearhum, and his younger brother Christopher to come and stay for a while at his home. Rumor has it that William is a rake and has broken many hearts. Alice wants nothing to do with him. As Alice and William get to know each other better will Alice change her mind about marriage? Alice is kidnapped. Who could have done this? And why? Will William look for her? Will he find her? There is mystery, romance, a kidnapping, and it all makes a very interesting story. The plot is well thought out, the story is well written, and is enjoyable to read. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Lady Alice Softcreek has sworn not to marry after watching her father grieve the passing of her mother
Rumor has it that Lady Alice Softcreek in more ways than one. After witnessing her father wither in grief, she's vowed never to fall in love and suffer a similar fate. On the other hand, William Millington, the Marquess of Eearhum, has a reputation of a rake, a love them and lead them type. When these two meet, it's definitely not a match.
Their siblings, Lady Emma and Lord Christopher, are instantly smitten with each other. I really enjoyed reading how the various relationships played out. And not everyone is thrilled watching the way Alice and William interact at a ball thrown by Earl Brownley. Someone tries to abduct Alice but instead briefly grabs Emma before realizing their mistake and letting her go. But who is behind it?
Ms. Hamilton is a wonderful writer and is especially talented in the way she introduces her characters and intertwined their backstory with what is currently happening in the storylines. You will really enjoy this book.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is voluntary and honest.
The hero is a rake. At least, that's what the heroine has heard. Now, of course, we shouldn't always trust what others have to say about important members of the ton. But this hero? He is one of the worst sort. He sees the heroine and finds her enchanting. And the only thing he can think of is enchanting her. Now don't think now that he plans on marrying her. Of course not. He just wants to get her to be infatuated with him just like all the others before her. Goodness, even his brother admonishes him for breaking the hearts of countless girls. The good thing is we don't know how far he has taken it with those ladies. Has he slept with them?? Possibly. He didn't care at all that he hurt them. Good man. Sarcasm off.
Anyways, I read this one. The whole book. And yup I am kinda proud that I managed to do that. This one isn't badly written. Goodness, who am I kidding? It is! There was no proof reading so there are quite some grammar issues. It's also that it was not historically accurate and by accurate I mean that the protagonists used phrases we use nowadays. The dialogues were stilted and didn't fit in the time period. And then there was the plot. The whole killing and kidnapping trope didn't make a lot of sense... and the wedding, good god, why don't you just use a time travelling machine so that they can get married in today's time if you want to depict that...
Perhaps I nitpick. Maybe I love to do research too much to be a good reader. Who know? However, I still wish that anyone who seeks to be an author would do their research on the subject matter and get it right. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Dukes are not addressed as "My Lord"! They are addressed as "Your Grace". That being said, the intrigue of the book finally took off and...wow did it take off! Got me on my toes and searching through the words for answers fast. I enjoyed the humor that was woven into the midst of all the drama to lighten the mood from time to time. The subtle romance was nice too. Not too heavy, but enough that it got the blood flowing.
Ms. Hamilton writes about two sisters who, while alike in looks, are quite the opposite in personalities. They, along with their widowed father, embark on a tale of mystery and unexpected encounters that will make the reader laugh and cry as the characters' past experiences are shared amongst their guests at the manor and each other. The author gives great insight into the storylines and makes this a great read. I received this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
I probably would have drug my rating up to four stars of only the refitting were better. In several instances entire words were missing...suite, you might be able to guess art what SHOULD have been there, but that is not the point. Poor grammar and poor word smithing really irritate me until the impact of the story gets lost. If that doesn't bother you then you may well enjoy this story.
Characters were well developed. Relationship between the H and h was fun to watch evolve. Even though I knew early on who the villain was, it didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the book at all. I only gave it 4 stars because of the very poor editing job. Missing words in sentences, using wrong for of a word (for example using “their” for “there”), etc was distracting and at times forced you to pause to try to decipher what the sentence was supposed to say.
You will not want to put this story down. I thought it well written and plot filed with intrigue, love, mystery, passion and romance. It was easy to fall in love with each character. I Very much enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to read it and isn't sure if they want to. You will love it.
I love a well done Regency Period romance novel, and this is just the kind of tale that Hanna Hamilton I’d a master at writing. That’s certainly the evidenced by Conveniently Trapped with the Marquess. Alice and William’s story is a true delight, a “heartbreaker” and troubled heroine evolving into a perfect HEA. Totally delicious, and easy to highly recommend.
This is a story with Interesting characters And a familiar plot
The characters are well rounded each with an individual personality that the author has woven through the story. I could easily see this Story made into a TV movie. I like the aloof attitude of Alice and Williams drawing her out. I would easily read more of Hannah Hamilton books.
This book had me still thinking about it the next day! It has good strong characters, a scandalous plot and a beautiful love story. What’s not to like in this totally clean book that is beautifully written it’s so easy to imagine everything as it’s written.
Enjoyed reading this story and loved all the characters. Very strong characters that evolved beautifully. Couldn’t get the extended epilogue to finish.
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. In this book we have Alice who is opposed to marriage because her father almost shut down in his grief for his wife. William is a rake that wants Alice. I did enjoy the read but not quite sure how the title fits in with the story. At times this seemed to move super slow but at other times it was a good read.
