وُلدِت أسمهان أيكول في ""أدرنة"" بتركيا عام 1970. قامت بتأليف أربع روايات جريمة بطلتهم ""كاتي هيرشيل"". ""جريمة في البوسفور"" و""جريمة في إسطنبول"" هما أول روايتين وقد تمت ترجمتهما إلى ثماني لغات.
تخرجت في كلية الحقوق في جامعة إسطنبول، وحصلت على الماجيستير في الحقوق من جامعة ""هامبولت"" ببرلين. أثناء دراستها في إسطنبول، كتبت مقالات عن المشاكل الاجتماعية للمجلات الثقافية التركية. وبعد تخرجها عام 1996، انتقلت إلى برلين مع زوجها حيث بدأت بالكتابة في أدب الجريمة، لكن باللغة التركية. وهي الآن تعيش في إسطنبول وبرلين.
تُرجمت هذه الرواية إلى أكثر من ثماني لغات، وهي الجزء الثاني من أربعة كتب عن مغامرات ""كاتي هيرشيل"". وترجمت العربي الجزء الأول تحت عنوان ""جريمة في البوسفور""

Esmahan Aykol began her writing career as a journalist. Today she is a fiction writer, best known for her "Kati Hirschel" mystery novels.
Aykol's fiction touches upon stereotypes of Turks and Europeans (eg. the character of Kati Hirschel is a reverse of the norm: a German immigrant in Turkey).
Aykol divides her time between Istanbul and Berlin.

In Istanbul, decent apartments are hard to come by, or at least hard to come by without a generous helping of baksheesh, the monetary lubricant that smoothes so much of Turkish life. Kati Hirschel, the owner of Istanbul’s only mystery bookshop, is happy enough to pay that unofficial price if it means she can have her dream apartment. However, the property comes with one unwanted feature, the body of a man Kati had recently had a very public argument with.


Partly on the grounds that she might become a suspect, a vague possibility that is quickly discounted, but more because reading all those mysteries must have taught her something, Kati begins looking into the killing. As far as the mystery element goes, we are in fairly standard amateur sleuth territory with Kati an engaging central character.
 Where the book really scores, however, is in Aykol’s introduction to modern day Istanbul, a cosmopolitan city that is a magnet for the rural poor and their less than cosmopolitan traditional ways and where Islamists and secular modernists rub up against each other.


Aykol’s clever touch is in making Kati, though a native of Istanbul by birth, a German by parentage and upbringing, have both an insider’s familiarity and an outsider’s eye on her Turkish neighbours (and her fellow Germans, come to think of it).

أما المعنى الضمني فهو  "رشوة " والفرق بين الاثنين كبير ، ولكن يبدو أن الكاتبة حاولت أن تكون مهذبة في هذه النقطة ، فأنا قد دفعت رشوة للنجاح في امتحان " قيادة السيارة" والسبب هو أني فقط لا اريد تكرار الامتحان عدة مرات وانا اعرف النتيجة 😒


" لكن الحياة تأخذنا في مسارات مختلفة ، و أهواء الناس لا تعرف حدوداً . وهوسي الخاص هو التحقيقات ، لا حيلة لي في ذلك "
هذا ما قالته كاتي لتعطي نفسها المبرر وراء بحثها عن حقيقة جريمة وقعت بالمصادفة بين يديها والحق يقال انها كانت مناسبة تماماً للمهمة التي وكلت نفسها لها ، كانت ذكية ونشيطة ، كثيرة الحركة والتفكير ، لم تمل او تتعب، ولم تفكر في الاستسلام وترك الأمر للشرطة  التركية  " التعبانة"
كان عندها وجهة وفكرة ، وتريد ببساطة اثباتها، وانا كنت أريد ذلك أيضاً بصراحة 😁
لذلك لم أتمكن من تركها قبل ايجاد حل اللغز

" أحبي محامياً ، وستعرفين أشياء كثيرة و بسيطة يتجاهلها الناس العاديين "
هذه كانت نصيحه "كاتي" التي لم تستفد فقط من كون حبيبها محام ٍ ، بل ومن حقيقة انها تكون تركيه وقت ما تريد والمانية متى تطلب الأمر .
و لكن مطلبي اكبر منها فلطالما تمنيت أن احب "نائب عام" وليس محامياً 😁😅

كنت اعرف انها ليست ابدا على مستوى ما تعودت عليه من روايات الجريمة وأعتقد بأنه يجب على الكاتبة أن تتعب على نفسها اكثر اذا كانت تريد المتابعة في هذا المجال ولكني مع ذلك قرئت الجزء الثاني وذلك لاني مغرمة بروايات الجريمة أولاً ، ولأني " اكلت فيها مقلب" تانياً ، فقد توقعت ان أجد شيئاً افضل ولكنها حافظت على نفس المستوى

Kati Hirşel, Almanya doğumlu ancak İstanbul'da yaşayan, yalnızca polisiye kitaplar satan bir kitapçı ve polisiye sever. Aynı zamanda da amatör dedektif. Bu romanda satın almak için kelepir bir ev ararken tesadüfen bir cinayetle karşı karşıya kalıyor. İlk başta cinayetin şüphelisi durumuna düşse de kısa sürede masumiyeti anlaşılıyor. Ancak yine de merakını dizginleyemeyip katili araştırmaya devam ediyor.
Esmahan aykol bence iyi bir anlatıcı. Kitap zevkle okunuyor. Muamma kısmı da iyi denebilir. Tek sorun bence Kati Hirşel'in amatör dedektif olması. Amatör dedektifler ya kendi başlarını ya da bir yakınlarını beladan kurtarmak için dedektiflik yaparlar. Ya da cinayet yakın çevresiyle alakalıdır. Bu romanda ise Kati Hirşel'in cinayetin şüphelisi olmadığı anlaşıldıktan sonra olayı sırf merak saikiyle araştırmaya devam etmesi biraz tuhaf kaçıyor. Yine de zevkle okunan bir kitap.

عادت كاتي من جديد لكن في جريمة مختلفة هذه المره وقعت في اسطنبول أثناء رحلتها للبحث عن شقة جديدة للسكن بدل من القديمة التي طالبتها المالكة بزيادة شهرية غير مستحقة قدرها ١٥٠ يورو ، كانت ترغب بالبحث عن شقة للإيجار بمنطقة مختلفة ليستقر بها الحال إلى رغبتها بالتملك ولكن بطريقة ملتوية تدفع مقابلها رشوة لموظف حكومي مختص لتحظى بشقة سكنية بعد أن تطرح بالمزاد العلني لعدم ثبوت صاحب ملك لها، كانت هناك خيارات متعددة لها وراقت لها واحده رغبت بأن تعاينها قبل أن تقدم على الشراء لتلتقي بعثمان صدفة ساكن بشكل غير شرعي بهذا المكان وتتوالي الصدف بعدها كعادة المؤلفة من مقتل عثمان واتهام كاتي بقتله وبحثها الدؤوب كما عهدناها عن القاتل لتكشفه بالنهاية وتتستر عليه مره أخرى🤦🏻‍♀️.

حياتها العاطفية غير مستقرة بالبداية بعد أن هجرت حبيبها لتعود له بعد ذلك وبمساعدته تلملم خيوط الجريمتين اللتين وقعتا في هذا الجزء، وهناك جزءان آخران كذلك تكمله لمسيرة كاتي الهاوية في عالم الجريمة اسعى لشرائهم قريباً.

راق لي اسلوب المؤلف كثيراً وبت أستسيغ للأدب التركي اذا كان طابعه مشابهة لـ أسمهان أيكول.

في هذه الرواية تصف لنا تفشي الفساد في الدوائر الحكومية وكيف أن الرشوة أو البقشيش كما يطلقون عليه هو السائد لكي تسير الأمور في تركيا، الرواية قديمة نوعا ما قبل أن يزدهر اقتصاد تركيا وتنتعش السياحة بها لتصبح قبلة للمسافرين.

ترجمة سلسلة للـ العربي للنشر والتوزيع عابها تكرار بعض الصفحات بالخطأ فالواجب مراجعتها قبل نشرها بشكل أفضل من ذلك.

لو كان الجزء الثالث (الطلاق على الطريقة التركية) متوفر في مكتباتنا في الكويت لقرأته مباشرة لكنه للأسف لا.

Secondo capitolo della libraia Kati che si ritrova nuovamente coinvolta in un omicidio, o forse dovremmo dire che si immischia nelle indagini data la sua passione per i polizzeschi. Non aspettataevi un Poirot ma più una Miss Marple, insomma una donna che mescola il racconto della sua vita personale con le indagini, sempre personali, per risolvere un omicidio. Il romanzo si svolge come se fosse lei stessa a raccontartelo quasi fossimo seduti a prendere un çay tanto che a volte si rivolge direttamente al lettore. Vengono inoltre descritti anche aspetti della vita e della società turca attraverso gli occhi di una donna europea che vuole vive ad Istanbul mescolati ad una buona dose di autoironia di una donna sui quaranta anni. La lettura scorre molto bene.

Il delitto è più solido e l'indagine verosimile.
Ma, ancora una volta, non è il motivo principale per cui ho divorato questa storia.
Istanbul e i suoi abitanti, Kati e le sue paturnie ecco i veri protagonisti.
Senza scomodare Chistie ogni volta, ma c'è qualcosa nei polizieschi scritti da donne che mette il delitto in secondo piano e non ti dispiace.
Scopettone, Lackberg, Aykol, Vargas hanno questo in comune, ciascuna a modo suo.
Ecco è il piacere di leggere una bella storia di gente in qualche modo simpatica, in ambienti vivi e pulsanti.

Another fun romp through contemporary Istanbul with a very offbeat narrator - enjoyably cynical and excitable, and always a bundle of fast-moving story-telling. If you think getting a new home or apartment is a pain where you live, just follow Kati's exploration through the truly Byzantine process of real estate in Istanbul. A body in the apartment is the least of it.

Good characters, interesting background, lively interactions and a dryly hysterical voice give this story a unique flavor.

Mi sono avvicinata con diffidenza ma ultimamente ho voglia di letture leggere e una protagonista tedesca, libraia e trapiantata a Istanbul non poteva non intrigarmi. Non è un giallo sensazionale ma quanto è stato bello girare di nuovo per le strade di quella città splendida! Kati è un po' matta ma mi ha fatto simpatia fin da subito. È bello approfondire qualche abitudine o qualche rito stambuliota leggendo un giallo un po' diverso ma pur sempre costruito in maniera semplice.

Letto durante la mia breve permanenza a Istanbul, sono andata a cercare alcuni dei quartieri citati... La protagonista, Kati Hirschel, ha una libreria di gialli, e solo per questo particolare mi è piaciuta un sacco. Le atmosfere della città sono rese bene, peccato che, non avendo letto il primo libro, un paio di riferimenti a fatti accaduti cadano nel vuoto.

I liked this book as I enjoy any murder mystery. I like the strong female character with obvious flaws, most of which I can relate to, and that she is quick witted. I also like that I was given a small introduction to Turkish culture which I found interesting. Of course, this isn't a literary novel I would dive into to write a thesis on, but it's good beach reading.

Libro un po' sciocchino, con una protagonista che sta a cavallo tra Miss Marple e Bridget Jones, però trapiantate a Istanbul.
I personaggi sono superficiali, i moventi del delitto del tutto futili, l'analisi della società che sottende alla storia è appena appena accennata.
Lettura veloce e priva di conseguenze.

Ritroviamo Kati Hirschel - la donna tedesca che è tanto innamorata di Istanbul da abitarci ormai da quattordici anni e aver aperto una libreria specializzata in gialli - dopo un anno e mezzo circa dal primo caso, e le cose sono un po' cambiate per lei, tanto che all'inizio stentavo a riconoscerla.
Innanzi tutto deve cambiare casa, quella casa che lei amava tantissimo sulla parte europea del Bosforo, perché non può permettersi di pagare un aumento di 150 euro sull'affitto. Così si trova invischiata in una serie di traffici di appartamenti, con bustarelle, impiegati del comune corrotti e faccendieri di ogni genere che le danno consigli su come acquistare un appartamento anziché cercare una casa in affitto. Kati si troverà invischiata in un delitto, e, come da copione, indagherà in modo neanche tanto velato. Intanto la sua vita privata procede tra alti e bassi. Dopo l'ennesima lite, Kati lascia il fidanzato - l'avvocato Selim, che aveva conosciuto in volo per Berlino nel primo romanzo della serie - anche se non si capisce neanche perché, e intanto dà appuntamenti ad altri uomini - tra cui Batuhan Unal, il commissario della squadra omicidi - per condurre le sue indagini.
Insomma, Kati mi somiglia sempre di più alla Agatha Raisin turca: mi sta un po' antipatica e non la trovo particolarmente brillante come detective, ma non riesco a smettere di leggere i suoi casi.
Però mi è un po' mancata l'ironia del primo volume, con tutti i preconcetti dei turchi sui tedeschi e dei tedeschi sui turchi, che qui sono molto meno presenti.

Torniamo a Istanbul con Kati Hirshel, tedesca trapiantata in Turchia, ora libraia appassionata di gialli. Anche stavolta si troverà invischiata in un omicidio, del quale in un primo momento sarà anche indagata.

La prima vittima è un uomo poco raccomandabile che specula con parcheggi e immobili, con il quale ha avuto un alterco per un appartamento che vorrebbe comprare, la seconda una signora anziana facente parte di una famiglia legata a un gruppo politico militante per “Uniti per un futuro radioso” partito fondamentalista.

Successivamente grazie anche al suo legame non ben definito con Batuhan commissario di polizia verrà scagionata e potrà continuare le sue indagini parallele. Ritornerà tra le braccia del suo fidanzato Selim, con il quale aveva litigato per una sciocchezza.

Che dire, anche questo libro non mi ha soddisfatto particolarmente, avevo deciso di dare una seconda opportunità a questa scrittrice, che nonostante le fantastiche premesse della trama (libraia che ama i gialli e li risolve in un contesto meraviglioso come Istanbul, temi che toccano le mie passioni) proprio non mi aveva preso, un po’ per lo svolgimento della storia, un po’ per i rapporti personali, ma sopratutto per il carattere di Kati che proprio non mi ha conquistato, un ‘insoddisfatta cronica che ripete ossessivamente il suo punto di vista a discapito degli altri.
Magari è un effetto voluto, oppure una caratteristica dello stile di scrittura turco, ma l’ho trovato troppo caotico per i miei gusti.

Appartamento a Istanbul di Esmahan Aykol è un giallo che fa parte di una serie di gialli, che hanno sempre la stessa libraia di gialli come protagonista. Questo romanzo sarebbe il secondo volume, ma essendo storie autoconclusive di casi diversi, possono essere letti in modo a sé stante e separato, io per esempio ho letto soltanto questo e penso sicuramente di fermarmi a questo. No, che non mi sia piaciuto, è stato un giallo piacevole da leggere, una lettura spensierata e originale, ma non perché abbia chissà quale articolata trama, anzi è un giallo approssimativo, non l' ho trovato molto accurato con gli indizi, e non sono di certo morta dalla curiosità di scoprire chi fosse l' assassino, non so, non riesce a tenere alta la suspence, tuttavia il libro mi è piaciuto per l' ambientazione ad Istanbul e per una protagonista cinica, quasi anti-eroina che agisce e pensa in un modo un po' fuori dagli schemi, tanto da stare anche sulle scatole in certi momenti. Tuttavia, credo che una seconda lettura ad un altro libro della serie la troverei ripetitiva e mi stuferebbe quasi subito, perché si perderebbe quell' effetto novità.

I think this comes under the heading of "cozy mystery", although the sleuth is not a little old lady. It's Kati Hirschel, owner of Istanbul's only mystery book store.

Kati is looking for a new apartment because her landlady is increasing the rent on hers. She learns that there are ways to get a bargain price when buying an apartment, so she takes to bribery (baksheesh - actually a kind of "tipping") to secure a lovely apartment. But then a man is found murdered inside that very apartment. Because she had a bit of an altercation with this man she is put on the suspect list.

So of course she has to find out who actually did it. Kati's methods are totally random, as best as I could tell. I found no procedural process to her investigation. And she doesn't seem to mind of she doesn't actually have the evidence when she accuses someone.j

I found it amusing because of Kati's personality, which is bold and blunt, and her comments about her life and life in Istanbul. Fun to read.

محبط جداً من قراءة الرواية

من الرواية، توقعت أن أقرأ تفاصيل رائعة لمدينة اسطنبول تجعلني أزورها قبل أن أراها ، لم أجد الكاتبة قامت بهذا الشيء بشكل موفق

من الظلم اعتبار الرواية بوليسية حقيقةً، الرواية اجتماعية بالمقام الأول حدثت بها جريمة أو جريمتين مرتبطتين

لا أدر ما علاقة بحث بطلة الراوية عن شقة بالجريمة الحاصلك ولا إسهاب الكاتبة بمشاعرها تجاه الرجال (وجدت بعضها غير مهذب صراحة)

ربما وفقت الكاتبة بشرح شخصية ومشاعر الناس التي يمتلكون مزيجاً من دولتين أو ثقافتين في شخصيتهم فبطلة الرواية تركية ألمانية

لا أنصح بها لمن يبحث عن رواية بوليسية .. الحبكة ضعيفة وتفاصيل التحقيق ليست مثيرة تحبس الأنفاس بل بالعكس ضائعة في تفاصيل اجتماعية غير ضرورية .. أجد أن الكاتبة ربما استعملت الجريمة لإضافة شيء من التشويق لرواية اجتماعية مملة

In Baksheesh, Esmahan Aykol takes a slightly darker turn than the previous books, and it really works. Kati Hirschel finds herself trying to help an old friend whose husband has been arrested, leading her into a world of bribery, corruption, and complex legal loopholes.
​The title says it all, it’s a fascinating look at how 'baksheesh' (tips or bribes) greases the wheels of society. Kati remains as witty and independent as ever, but the stakes feel a bit higher here. It’s a 4-star read for the incredible realism and the way Aykol handles the darker side of Istanbul with her signature dry humor.

رواية جيدة و لكن رواية جريمة أقل من عادية بصراحة، التحقيق و التشويق كان ضعيف و مش ممتع ، الممتع هي الشخصية الرئيسية كاتي، البنشوف منها و معاها اسطنبول و الحضارة و العادات الألمانية و التركية و الاختلاف بينهم و خفة الدم في السرد، رواية مسلية خفيفة بتوريك الفساد السياسي و الرشاوي في تركيا و بتوريك عادات المجتمع التركي ال شبه المصريين جدا في حاجات كويسة و حاجات وحشة برده 😂 قراءة خفيفة و لكن لا أرشحها كرواية جريمة أبدا، زيها زي الجزء الأول، لو قرأته متقرأش دي، مفهاش اضافة اوي، إلا عن اسطنبول و المجتمع التركي الهتقضي معاه وقت لطيف أثنأ القراءة

Peggiore del primo (Hotel Bosforo), ma non male. Ho fatto più fatica a leggerlo perché in questo è meno evidente la vena polemica e comica della protagonista, il caso però è più "realistico" e interessante. Posso anche dire che ho avuto tutti i sospetti giusti prima della protagonista, cosa che amo in un giallo. Ah e in questo compare anche meno Istanbul che nel primo è quasi un personaggio del libro. Non so se lo consiglio, qualcuno potrebbe anche decidere di lasciarlo a metà... Io continuerò la serie sperando in un'evoluzione positiva

İstanbullu Alman kadın dedektifimiz Kati, bir ev satın almak ister ancak bu sefer de cinayet zanlısı olarak şüpheleri üzerine çeker.

Esmahan Aykol'un ikinci Kati romanı kendi içinde tutarlı olmakla birlikte çok da keyifli bir okuma sunmuyor okura. İsim vermemek için Türkiye'ye dair herşeyin üstü bir örtüyle örtülüyor... Bu da Alman okurun hoşuna gidebilecek ancak Türk okuru cezbetmeyecek bir şey haline getiriyor romanı.

عادة أحب روايات الجرائم التركية لذلك لم أشك أنني سأحب هذا الكتاب، كما توقعت كان جيدا ويشبه روايات الجرائم التركية، كما كان مشوق وانتهيت منه في بضعة أيام فقط.
أكثر ما أعجبني في الكتاب هو أنه كان من وجهة نظر سيدة ألمانية، مما جعلتني أرى الفرق بين الأتراك والألمان، وهذه هي النقطة المختلفة في الكاتب.
بالطبع لم أتفق مع كل الأفكار الموجودة في الكتاب، كما أن نهايته لم تكن بالقوة التي تخيلتها ولكن لا بأس...

Kati è un personaggio molto simpatico e affascinante però alcune volte risulta anche molto irritante. Ciò che più ho apprezzato in questo capitolo sono le bellissime descrizioni e informazioni sulla città di Istanbul, che spero un giorno di poter visitare.
Il giallo è piuttosto leggero e un po' banale ma comunque piacevole.

Level up nello stile narrativo dell’autrice.
In questo libro è riuscita ad integrare meglio il capello socio-politico-culturale stambuliota all’interno della narrazione, rispetto ad Hotel Bosforo che sembra più un saggio che un giallo.
È stato dato maggior spazio allo sviluppo del crimine e alle capacità investigative della protagonista.
Avrei apprezzato un finale più strutturato.
