I adored this gift box.
As a massive Harry Potter fan as soon as I saw this Guided Deck and Book Set I knew I had to have it and I am very happy to say it was everything I hoped it would be and so much more.
I love the way the themes featured in the Harry Potter books and films are used to spark self-reflection and deep thought as well as being encouraging and entertaining. Questions such as what animal would you be if you were an animagi and why made for some interesting internal discussion. The addition of the why stopped me from just saying my favourite animal and instead thinking about an animal whose qualities are more suited to my personality.
I also adored getting to learn some interesting behind-the-scene facts about the films as well as hearing from members of the cast about their feelings and thoughts on their characters, other characters, and various situations from the series. These additions were also joined by images such as photographs and concept artwork which made this book and card deck feel more rooted in the world of Harry Potter than I had expected it to be when I purchased it.
Jody Revenson has done a fantastic job with this gift box. The questions she chose to include and the situations she uses to guide and highlight the real human behaviours, feelings, and experiences from the Harry Potter series that everybody can relate to made for a truly magical reading experience. I am so glad that I have this fabulous book and deck and I am excited to continue on my Magical Meditation journey.
Magical Meditations by Jody Revenson is a must-have for all Harry Potter fans.

Based on the films, this collection of cards features questions based on various aspects of the stories. It's published by Simon & Schuster in the US and by Insight Editions in the UK.
The cards, which are larger than playing cards but would still fit into most hands, come packed in a cloth bag. The bag has the outline of Hogwarts embroidered on it. A drawstring keeps the cards safe and contained when not in use. There's also a book which contains all the questions for quick reference.
The questions are divided into eight colour coded catagories; Identity, Relationships, Values & Beliefs, Battling your Fears, Personal Growth, Experiencing Loss and Flights of Fancy. Each card has a short passage about a part of the story and a question related to it. For instance, a short passage about Dumbledore pairs with a question about people in your life who may have mentored you at some point. The book also has behind the scenes snippets and pictures of props or scenes from the movies.
(Note this is an American publication, so the first film is always referred to as The Sorcerer's Stone rather than the British Philosopher's.)
The backs of the cards tell you which category they're from, so there would be no surprise if you were dealing them out. However, if you took them from the bottom of the deck each time, you wouldn't know what you were getting until it was in your hand.
I love the little bits of information in the book; I didn't know a lot of the behind the scenes info before and they make the movies even more interesting.
This is a great set with some really thoughtful questions, and I look forward to going through them to learn more about myself and my friends.
