Volume 10 is the final volume of the Pokémon Adventures Collector's Edition and also is the conclusion to the Emerald arc of the manga. Without spoiling anything it also wraps up the Firered/Leafgreen arc. The villain to me became a bit lackluster in this last volume and the stakes never made me feel anxious for the main characters. The story does wrap up in a neat way but it also might feel a bit rushed at times. The ending of this volume feels like a true ending of all the arcs that came before it, from the Red/Blue/Green arc to the Emerald arc, it feels like the 'end' for this part of the Pokémon Adventures story and luckily it wraps up in a good way.

The problem with a series like this is that certain characters become your favourites and you just want more of them, but with so many characters in one place the spotlight needs to be shared in a way where you'll never be satisfied with the amount your faves got. AKA give me more Yellow and give me more Sapphire and Ruby together pleeeeeease 😭 their banter was so good in this and Ruby is once again a little shit because he's pretending to have forgotten the revelations from their final battle (which really seems to just be the mangakas distaste for canonising relationships what with this and the Red Misty Yellow love triangle that was played with but never solved - but I guess that's fine, they are kids)
Also real talk: if the arc hadn't been about Emerald getting all the battle things then there is no way Red wouldn't have won their tournament. He's literally known as the fighter. Also also if the Pokémon pair ups are anything to go by it looks like hatcher Gold is gonna be busyyy 😉

Compared to the other books the conclusion for this chapter in the series was pretty boring. Everything happened quickly and the end of the book and there wasn’t any build up. Overall though I really enjoyed reading all of the Pokémon Manga and I like how they brought all the characters together at the end even if it was anticlimactic.

A fantastic conclusion to Emerald's chapter, which does a great job at linking the plot from the FireRed/LeafGreen chapter and using all 10 pokédex users for its bombastic conclusion. Just like the Ruby/Sapphire chapter, the latter part of this chapter puts less focus on the main character's award-collecting goal in favor of building up the main villain and conflict for a climactic showdown. While I enjoyed the individual battles in the previous volume more, I enjoyed the focus on the characters this volume had, especially the focus on Emerald and his backstory. Emerald's story made him a more sympathetic character while also effectively slotting him into the world of Pokémon. Seeing every pokédex owner return was both exciting and satisfying from a narrative perspective, as each person had a valid and logical reason to be there for the final battle. Each character contributed to the victory at the end, and while I would've personally liked to see more emphasis put on each character's unique abilities and skills, I understand that would've likely made the final battle overcomplicated (and at the end of the day, this was all to conclude Emerald's storyline more than anything). Also, Guile Hideout was a fine enough villain. I really liked the design of his armor and how he planned to use Jirachi for his own goals (also sports the goofiest name in this series yet).

This volume, being the last Collector's Edition they released for this series, also concludes the larger plotline around the original 10 pokédex holders, and overall, I found this journey to be an incredible ride from beginning to end. I was already expecting to enjoy this when I started reading, just given my adoration of the franchise since childhood, but I didn't expect to see such detailed and well-choreographed battles. The characters, storylines, and worldbuilding were good and fun to read, but the battles were easily the best part of this entire manga. They all made such effective use of each Pokémon's abilities, biological traits, and specific moves that each battle felt fresh and tense in its own unique way. The art was stellar, always ensuring you understood exactly what was happening, and I really enjoyed how many of the battles in this series also effectively utilized the setting, whether it was on the roof of an abandoned building during a storm or in the middle of a lake filled with Gyarados. I would heartily recommend this series to any Pokémon fan, even remotely interested in seeing some engaging battles, as a lot of the ones here put those in the anime to shame.

Unfortunately, this is the last omnibus they released for this series, as I would've loved to see the entire series collected in gorgeous volumes like this. However, regardless, given how much I've enjoyed the manga thus far, I will likely continue reading.

It’s here! The final volume of the collector’s edition (though I hope for more in the future..)!!!
Although this arc is not my favorite , I did fangirl so hard when all the Pokédex holders teamed up for that final battle!!!!
It was beautiful!!!!! I can’t say much without spoiling. This volume is a lot smaller so I’ll just leave it at that!!!!

My overall thoughts on the collector’s edition:
4.5/5 stars!!! This series is so much fun! I thought it would be repetitive but they did such a good job at changing up the storyline and the main characters for every arc! Shonen is not my fav genre but I really enjoyed this series.
Now for the physical volumes themselves, the collector’s editions are big, have colored art pages and the pages are sooo nice. I definitely recommend them!

So despite Emerald being so hands-off about being close to pokemon, it was a bit weak on the reasoning WHY. Course it says something about the cruelty of people towards those with any perceived defect but as it shows, that damages somebody's psyche.
...
How did Red & Yellow's Pikachus learn volt tackle? The bangles for the fire, water, and grass ultimate moves were nifty, more elegant ways to TM, but Volt Tackle is an egg move soooo HOW?!

Not the best ending I've ever read. Especially when they save the worst character until last.

This is the concluding volume in this series; however, the main focus of the story was on the Battle Frontier in the Hoenn region. Emerald, the main hero in the arc, is attempting to win the Battle Frontier when chaos ensues once Jirachi is taken captive by a mysterious individual, revealed as Archie. He is later revealed to be a past villain in the series along with the past Pokédex holders from the earlier arcs. Together, they free Jirachi and save Hoenn (and the Pokémon world), again. In the end, Emerald successfully wins at the Battle Frontier.

As a whole, this series was enjoyable and my first real taste of manga. I recommend it for Pokémon fans, mostly because the books are in line with the video games rather than the anime show. They are fast reads because they are written for children; however, they are enjoyable for all ages.

Enter Crystal, the capturing expert! I really liked the time we spent with Crystal, but this one hopped around the Gym leaders quite a bit and then introduced Eusine quite late who I did not care for…

I wanna get back to Gold and Silver as well, hopefully they reappear in the next volume.
