It was a bittersweet experience to see more layers in Soo-Won's complicated relationship with Hak and Yona. Mizuho Kusanagi did a great job using flashbacks in this volume - perfect timing and heartwarming illustrations. Waaahhh, I heard my heart breaking into a hundred pieces. I still believe that even though Soo-Won's methods were wrong, he had good reasons behind them. I also think that in his own way, he still cares for Yona and Hak and is trying to protect them. I swear, if those 3 kids don't resolve their issues by the end of this series, I would SCREAM.

Why do I keep doing this to myself?!?! 😩😭💔

Yes, I should wait until at least more volumes come out at a time. Will I? No, probably not. I’m stupid like that. 🤪

Anyways…despite the emotional heartache I had for DAYS that left me leaving this volume on my library pile and ignoring for so long, I loved it! Seeing my favorite Happy Hungry Bunch back in action (as much as they can, anyways) was so satisfying and lovely and they always at one time or another make me laugh. Even if they are all still separated at this point. 😩😭😭

Hak and Yona learn more things and grow even more making me love them even more. The tension just keeps building with what’s exactly going on with Su-Won, and I think we’re going to learn what actually happened between Yona and Su-Won’s fathers in the next few volumes which I’m excited for yet very nervous because of the little we know how much of it is a lie or the truth? And why? I’m super curious and want to knooow!!!

Though the end…💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭 It ripped out my heart and made me want to cry. 😭😩 Please give my ship a break and bring them back together soon, pleeease!!!!! My poor babies, I feel so bad for them…though I don’t think things are going to get easier for them for the next few volumes or so still. *sigh* Poor things.

So despite all the heartache and pain, I loved this volume and can’t wait for the next one!

(yes I’m odd, please don’t judge 😜)

Content: mild swearing; violence (nothing over PG-13)

Well, this was different…

I'm not sure what to say first. Yona's compassion in the face of one of the hardest things she has probably faced or one of the biggest bombshells of news about a certain character? Or maybe too, the decision Hak made about his own future?

*rubs forehead*

I don't even know, but seeing Hak in a certain chapter in this one was super cute! Though its far from cute seeing him give more than his all to be close to Yona. That is is just some plain swoonworhty-ness right there! No and, ifs, or buts about it!

I very much enjoyed the beginning and how there may be an alliance, but you can't keep any of these guys tied down. They WILL do their own thing and I'm 1000% for it. I don't like this alliance. Well, I should change that. I don't like the effects of the alliance on their personal relationships. Its wrong what is being done, though with that one tiny secret out in the open, I have no idea where things will go from here. I'm just going to leave it at that because I don't know what else to say.

Sinha getting angry about how he couldn't see Yona was EVERYTHINGGGGGGG!! Yes, it was a super minor part, but HE IS SO PRECIOUS!! Even seeing him get mad at Gija and Jaeha and doing what Zeno said he should do was hilarious! (Sorry Jaeha! LOL)! I love his character so so so much!!!

I really do think maybe the critical moment that really shook me is how Yona treated Su-won in his moment of weakness. That was really mind-blowing and humbling. I'm not sure how I would reacted if I was in her shoes. (Also makes me glad that Hak isn't around right at that moment even though I really miss him. *nervous laughter* I told my husband the mangaka is cruel to after 30 volumes give readers the ultimate kiss only for Yona and Hak not be able to be together. I truly hope its just a few volumes until they can reunite again and not like 10+ volumes later…)

That ending was a gut puncher! I refrained from skimming the next volume because my heart hurt so much! *sobs*

I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I AM STARTING TO LIKE SUWON!!! I'm starting to see the long term goal here, and I am having a hard time hating him. This volume changed the tone of the entire series for me. I cannot ever get enough of this one, but I can see it is slowly working towards its end. It's hard to know how to feel other than in awe, because clearly the mangaka knew what she wanted from the beginning.

Please, bring this story to more interesting rute. It's always boring when things in manga turn more to political of that world than to the chatacters.

Okay but what the fuck was that. Yona, you really gonna backslide? After all this development? Don’t you dare.

RECAP: martial arts tournament. Jaeha and Gija go all out to wreck the stadium so the crowd leaves and Sinha and Zeno don’t need to show their powers. Hak decides to join the sky army, galfan the falcon is reunited with Hak, Yun meets Minsu and they nerd out about medicine, Yona witnesses Suwon’s illness and is barred from seeing anyone. Jaeha comes to take her to Hak but she sends him away.

“Even if you kill me, you cannot become King Hiryuu. Just try it. Then turn and look behind you. And there, the true red-haired king shall surely deliver your death.”

Secrets are uncovered, destinies are revealed, and old, dark wounds are reopened; all in one swift move.

My brain literally screeched to a halt at the revelation that was had in this volume. Casually and without fanfare, we are gifted a discovery that does nothing but bestow more questions. And just how will all fall into the puzzle we've slowly been building?

Consequences, devastations, mixed feelings, and an even murkier and uncertain future, all of it yet to be seen; one thing is certain, wherever this path leads it's not what I had pictured at the beginning and it reshapes everything that we have known to this point.

While there are smaller changes to the status quo being made, changes that gave me some hope and restored a bit of my faith in humanity, changes that are important and significant, they were promptly overshadowed by the huge weight of what we now know. And while my faith in humanity was somewhat restored, I was left shattered and scared by the end of it all, all the same.

“A girl who has never even held a weapon before can practice with the bow every day and become plenty skilled. [Can we become like that?] No. She was just more desperate than anyone to get stronger.”

Chapters 182-187

Volumes like these remind me why this series needs an anime reboot or continuation.

This continues the tournament arranged to show off the dragons powers, although some things happen that prevent the Yellow and Blue Dragons powers to be shown. The series and characters are beginning to be nostalgic with Hak voluntarily being a foot soldier, Gulfan (Su-Won’s bird) flying with Hak. Su-won almost feeling comfort with Yona and Hak, but Yona especially. But, the volume ends with a secret that will cost Yona, the Dragons, Yun and Hak’s life if it got out. So, Yona is shown pushing everybody away to protect them.

This one had a bit of action in the beginning ~ which is why I think this would be so good animated again. (I can be hopeful okay!! 😩🫡) but also a good bit of politics and things ramping up.

Ooh, it's only getting more and more interesting. Call it karma, but it isn't technically karma either since whatever illness Su-Won has is what also killed his mother. Assuming his mother wasn't deserving of such a fate.

1000000000000000000000000000/100

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i don't know what to say about this volume. i just bought it recently and reread the entire volume even though i've already read it online. i've forgotten many important details in this volume and rereading it was... overwhelming, TOO MUCH FOR ME TO HANDLE. i'm aware that many people in akayona fandom hate soo won and couldn't possibly forgive him for his betrayal but!!! this volume really made me think of their friendship and understand soo won's feelings a little. that part where soo won collapsed at yona's room and yona hugged him made me cry so hard. he thought it was just a dream so he told yona about hak joining the sky tribe. IT MADE ME FEEL THAT SOO WON WANTED TO TALK TO HIS FRIENDS AGAIN SO HE TALKED ABOUT HAK IN SUCH A FOND WAY TO YONA BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY IF IT WAS JUST A DREAM AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (im sorry im not articulate enough but fucking hell im a mess)

anybody who felt the same way about this volume?? t____t

Le doy un 4,25. He disfrutado mucho mucho mucho este tomo.

loved so much

We find out a bit more crucial information in this volume but what I loved to see most was how much the dragon warriors truly care for each other. Hak is amazing as always.

The plot continues to become more complicated in messy in this latest installment of Yona of the Dawn. New information in brought to light regarding the events of volume one, as well as characters' pasts. We see continued growth from all the main characters, and there is a continued feeling of the story closing, if a somewhat explosive ending. The tension has been growing for the last ten volumes, and it isn't slowing down, as with every volume we gain new information on politics or the dragon warriors, or more backstory and exposition is given.

10/10, another fantastic volume from Mizuho Kusanagi and team.

This volume started out a little slow for me, which hasn't happened with this series in a long time...but the plot development in the later half of the book totally hooked me! I love that this storyline keeps me guessing!

But I miss the whole gang being together. I want them reunited, please. *sniffle*

I saw this cover… a year ago? And I’ve been impatiently waiting for it’s English release – it does not disappoint. The volume was also good. This is a series that always leaves me chomping at the bit for the next volume.
