Dream Land’s innocent troublemaker Kirby is back at it again with more of the mischief fans of all ages know and love. These cute and carefree Kirby comics—ready to be consumed in any order or inhaled all at once—will leave fans tickled pink!
kirby!!!!!! ugh and I adore Rick, Kine and Coo; it was delightful to see them so much in this volume as well. Especially Coo!! They made him so cool and sharp, I love it.
The humor is not super my style, so I was having a hard time deciding if I was really enjoying this volume. However, at the end of the day, it did make me laugh, and it's such a surreal dream to have a Kirby manga in my hands, so it gets three solid stars from me.
More gag-based adventures of the round pink hero, each with a theme of sorts but not much of a plot, instead mostly just consisting of Kirby goofing around. There's a lot of breaking the already loose continuity for the sake of a joke, and some very exaggerated character expressions, some of them being a bit disturbing. Kirby runs in an election for ruler of Dream Land against King Dedede and wins, then blows the budget on toys and food pretty much immediately. Another story is a parody of role-playing games, with Kirby, Dedede, and Gooey gaining levels, getting hints from townsfolk, and losing hit points. I have to wonder why there hasn't been a Kirby RPG yet. In another, Kirby and his friends are secret agents trying to thwart Meta Knight's plot to launch a pepper missile at Dedede. Attendees at the Dream Land Olympics learn of secret underground games where they play sports that were banned at the normal ones, like speed eating, string figures, strip rock-paper-scissors, and funny faces, which is known to cause dangerous after effects. Mr. Tick-Tock shows up in this one as the director. And Dedede creates an eraser shortage in Dream Land in order to corner the market. Rick, Coo, and Kine are regular supporting characters in this volume. And the final story features Kracko as a stern enforcer of the rules.
I still don't know much about it but April 27 2022 marks 30 years of the adorable pink alien from dream land created by Masahiro Sakurai and named after the lawyer who helped Nintendo won a 1984 court case against Universal - Kirby
By the way I sure hope you enjoy playing Kirby And The Forgotton Land when it launches to Nintendo Switch on 25/03/2022
The 1st volume brought a lot of charm. As for the 2nd volume it continues to bring charm to the character filled with excellent sense of humour and Dedede is just Dedede - wait didn't I said it on my last Kirby review?
Overall it's actually cute and it's a must read for anyone who's into Kirby as well as Nintendo and of other all things video games
I'm not too fond of the personality given to Kirby here. The story arcs are alright, but the author makes it sound like they were 'obligatory' and he had to do them. The biggest quirk I have this time around is the eyes...there are several panels where the eyes look off and it's all I could see.
Now that all being said, I definitely liked the spy arc the best and that's what's going to drive me forward with the series, even though I like Kirby in general and would read the next books anyways because it's something Kirby to enjoy.
Another fun set of chapters wherein Kirby continues to terrorize Dreamland (but mostly just Dedede). I liked the addition of our new three characters, and the mangaka did a great job at consistently finding new and unique scenarios to throw the cast into (my favorite here was the Dragon Quest-esque world). I know this is a collection of chapters from the manga's original run, but I'm curious to see if we'll get any more new chapters as we did in the last volume (unless there was another one-off new one in here too that I didn't notice).
This was a good volume. I find Kirby kind of annoying and rude, but he was much better in this volume than the previous one. He's still pretty selfish and self-centered. He also bring a lot of chaos to everyone's lives. But these stories felt less mean-spirited than the ones in the previous volume. Each chapter is a standalone story that is fully of silliness, with no real stakes to speak of. I'm going to check out the next volume and decide whether I will continue with the series then.
Very adorable and a lot of fun. My son and I bond over Kirby, so these volumes are perfect for us. So many great designs and characters from the games brought to life. The gags are pretty good, and Kirby's characterization is just the best. I loved the story's about him learning manners and the great eraser bubble.
The Kirby of these manga is just not the lovable pink puffball I know and love from the games. Instead, he's the type of guy who always causes his friends trouble for comedic effect. I can't seem to stop reading them, so there must be something here, but they're not to my taste.
It was funny and cute. I couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it. Definitely need to read more volumes of Kirby Manga. They’re hilarious, funny, cute, and really good.
This was another fun volume of the Kirby manga, however I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first. Kirby was still funny and cunning, however I don’t think as many of the stories stood out in this volume, in comparison to the first.
