A combo package of fun and information. The book tells us about the quirky habits of animals as they fall asleep. The rhyming prose will be a hit with the little kids along with the information about the strange behavior of the beloved animals. The illustrations are fun too.
Charming display of different habits that animals take to rest. It can be an excellent aid in reading with children and helping them fall asleep. _________________ Encantadora exhibición de diferentes hábitos que los animales adoptan para descansar. Puede ser una excelente ayuda para leer con los niños y ayudarlos a conciliar el sueño.
This book is a pleasure to read. It’s fun and informative and interesting. Best of all, it helps young ones get to sleep at bedtime by showing them that other creatures sleep too, albeit in their own way.
Sleep is a vital activity for animals both great and small, but it looks different depending on what those animals must do to survive. Sleeping with one eye open, dolphins and ducks protect themselves by managing to be aware of their surroundings even while resting. Penguins and otters sleep close to one another, and flamingos sleep standing on one foot. And these are only a few of the many animals included in this collection! At the end, a human parent and child with light skin prepare for sleep, just like the other animals in the story. Though no two animals sleep exactly the same way, the act of sleeping is one that connects animals to one another across the world.
Written for very young children, this book features four lines of rhyming couplets on each page. Though the meter is not consistent throughout the narrative, the repetitive structure and wealth of interesting facts will keep readers engaged. Readers of all ages are sure to learn something new from this story and will be excited to share their newfound knowledge with others.
Easily the most striking component of this book are the beautifully rendered watercolor illustrations. Dominating each page, these dynamic visuals will engage readers long before they can read or understand the accompanying text. Depicted in sleep, vivid hues adorn each animal featured in the story.
From snails to whales, a wide range of animals and their sleeping habits are introduced in How Animals Say Goodnight, which is a visually stunning bedtime story for very young readers.
Beautifully Illustrated Book about How Animals Sleep
This is a delightful children's nonfiction book that both shows in illustrations and tells in rhyming verse how different animals sleep. A child will not only learn about bears’ hibernation but how an albatross sleeps while flying high in the sky or whales while they drift in the ocean. Quite a few animals, too, keep at least one eye open to watch for predators! The illustrations are richly colored and pleasantly done. The tones in this book are cool in general, making it a great book for bedtime reading. I thought the illustrations were excellent and quite beautiful in all cases, and the rhyming verses were mostly done well. If your child has an innate curiosity about these kinds of details about animals or the natural world, she or he might find it fascinating.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is an absolute true bedtime storybook. The illustrations are painting worthy. The story is fact filled about how animals sleep and told in a drowsy way. The little ones will not know they are learning about the animal kingdom as they drift off to blissful sleep dreaming about animals. I highly recommend this book for the birth to eight year olds who enjoy different animals.
